A disgraced Tokyo detective spirals into a world of corruption, addiction, and violence as he becomes entangled in a twisted investigation.
unlabelledView post →Kind of similar but distinct to the related mini-genre that BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS is in where it's a movie written as a serious drama that the director thinks is stupid and instead plays as a comedy
unlabelledView post →I am finally watching Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call: New Orleans and I'm only a half hour in, and I don't want to exaggerate. But I think it might be the best movie ever made
unlabelledView post →I love the idea of a new Bad Lieutenant movie every couple of decades made by a different gonzo director
unlabelledView post →Takashi Miike has made several films I really like but I've watched enough of his work to know he's extremely hit or miss. I'm pretty ambivalent about the world's need for a third Bad Lieutenant film. But it was written by the dude who wrote The Eel, and Audition, and 13 Assassins.

unlabelledView post →This is becoming my favorite film series. Just a bunch of disconnected films loosely joined by a title and a vibe. I want every director to make a Bad Lieutenant film set in some city they love.
unlabelledView post →I’m such a baseball sicko that I watched Bad Lieutenant and took notes on the fictional 1992 Dodgers/Mets NLCS that took place in the background of the film

Cage at his Cage-iest, "sheet him again, his soul is still dancing" will stick with me. I thought Backrooms was pretty mid, sorry fans. Movie just sort of... ends.

unlabelledView post →Watched Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans last night in honor of Val Kilmer. It's more Nic Cage's movie, but I care not. It's a great film and the edible was very strong so those iguanas on my fucking table were a welcome sight.
unlabelledView post →I'm SORRY there's a new Bad Lieutenant being directed by TAKASHI MIIKE????
unlabelledView post →I like how Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo is coming out 17 years after the previous movie, which came oit 17 years after the first one. It’s like the Before films if they had basically nothing to do with each other.
unlabelledView post →Saw Bad Lieutenant 1 and 2. Liked the Herzog film better. But I like dark comedy with superimposed iguanas that look like they were shot by an 8-year-old. Keitel was great in 1 but parts went torture porn which I know was purposeful but…2 makes you think it’s a reboot, then goes wholly other places.
unlabelledView post →Love that every 17 years a new renegade auteur gets to take a crack at a BAD LIEUTENANT movie. Hell yes.
unlabelledView post →Such a bizarre movie. 9 years before Bad Lieutenant, Harvey Keitel plays a short-fused, Machiavellian and altogether deeply unpleasant narcotics detective whose corrupt shenanigans are catching up to him against the backdrop of serial killings of cops in the city. Johnny Rotten as his foil! Grim.

unlabelledView post →Not surprised. Ever seen Bad Lieutenant? 90's film. It's fiction, but the story of a bad cop "taking" drugs from dealers & users and using them himself is not a far cry from reality.

unlabelledView post →> the Youtube version is indeed cut and surprisingly the Tubi one isn’t. Tubi is pretty good about not cutting movies. The only thing I've seen it missing is part(s?) of Bad Lieutenant. ofc I have no illusions, tubi is only tolerable bc uBlock Origin still works to block ads, evetually tubi will enshittify and block adblockers. Also it's only available in some countries (us, canada? england? australia? nz?) sounds like an interesting movie, I'ma watch it next chance I get!…
unlabelledView post →Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. Werner Herzog took a turn into more mainstream American film, and Cage took a chance on a role that was one of Harvey Keitel's key performances and made it his own.
