60 of 175 · most liked firstI watched 225 movies in 2025. Here's my rating and two* sentences on each with my thoughts (Part 2: A-P). I watch a lot of movies, I don’t necessarily have a yearly goal however I like keeping a record, so here is what I watched with some thoughts [Link to Part 1 (2025 movies)](https://lemmy.world/post/41059248) - My rating scale is .5-5, and my review philosophy is “how well does the movie succeed at what it is trying to do?” - Thus Pacific Rim would be rated highly, whereas Transformers…

Transcendence-1.5 stars- Rebecca Hall & Cillian Murphy deserve a better movie. The Last Stand-3 stars- Wasn't expecting to see Zach Gilford. She's All That-3 stars- Buffy, Scooby, & Psych?!
positive · AI labelView post →Putting Zimmer anywhere near the same league as Williams is grotesque. Zimmer writes a medley, then has an army of underpaid and under-credited orchestrators write 95% of the film. He couldn't orchestrate his way out of a paper bag. His primary skill is pushing the "every instrument on every note" button on his Project Sam VI and then adding an additional 6 french horns, 6 trombones, and probably a pipe organ. Can you recall a single melody from Oppenheimer? It's all just environmental boom…

Omg, but I just remembered the video store where I worked charged me a late fee for a movie that was in my vcr when my apartment burned down. The movie: Backdraft. I shit you not. I did sue that job and win, though. Litigious AF!! 💃🏽

neutral · AI labelView post →Based on the poster image, I was briefly of the belief that Backdraft was a Nightmare on Elm Street movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →He didn't need big roles either. His brief appearance in Backdraft stole the movie. It is a perfectly fine film regardless, but his arsonist (up for parole and asked for expertise) lent such gravitas. What a horrible loss.

positive · AI labelView post →Try watching Backdraft with a retired fire captain (AKA "Dad"). Dad: Don't open th… DON'T OPEN THAT GODDAM… Movie housefire: *boom* Me: Whaaaat Dad: He let all the oxygen in Dad: *discourse on firefighting* #MissYouDad
neutral · AI labelView post →I'm reminded of asking some friends "what's that thing when oxygen makes a fire bigger, they talk about it in the movie Backdraft?" and they died laughing at me about how the phenomenon IS backdraft, why did I think the film was called that, did I think the main character was named Johnny Backdraft.
neutral · AI labelView post →I had a bike that I would ride on the side of the highway to get to town and spend the $8 I got for my allowance on some soda and whatever toy struck my fancy at the Eckerds. Sometimes my parents would let me rent a video game from the Blockbuster, which would always be Chrono Trigger. On Friday nights we would go to Pizza Hut and I would get a plastic cup that was a tie in to whatever kids movie was out at the time. Usually I'd have some Book-it stars to turn in to get my free personal pan…

neutral · AI labelView post →My \_\_\_\_ is Iron Chef with the original music. It was from the movie "Backdraft" so they had to remove it from all the YouTube versions, but they also cut out the sound of Chairman Kaga's shoes and his bite of the pepper. They ruined the show because there's somebody out there who still wants their pound of flesh from a movie that's 33 years old.

neutral · AI labelView post →Zimmer's Backdraft theme. Manages to be iconic both in the movie and on Iron Chef. Also basically set the template for every great 90's film score. (Don't ask me what I think about every score Zimmer has made in the last 25 years. Also guy's a bellend irl)
positive · AI labelView post →at #TheBear: Carmy: Cousin? Richie: yeah? C: Why are you listening to the theme music from the original Japanese version of Iron Chef? R: ...I'm not. This is the soundtrack to the 1991 film Backdraft. C: No it isn't. R: Yes, it is.

neutral · AI labelView post →Just a reminder that the theme to Iron Chef is also the theme to the Kurt Russell firefighter action film Backdraft
neutral · AI labelView post →Hey movie folks, am I right in remembering that in BACKDRAFT, they kind of give the fire a kind of sentience or will? Not in a literal sense, just that it seems to “act”?
neutral · AI labelView post →Last night I watched Backdraft, the '90s firefighter whodunit, a film I had only seen bits of on TBS of a weekend. The theme song was driving me batty. "I know this song," I said to my wife. "Where have I heard it before?" It's the fucking Iron Chef theme. Same fucking song.

positive · AI labelView post →The only trivia I know: Chairman Kaga, in 1987, starred in the popular Japanese production of Les Misérables as both Jean Valjean and Javert. And the music to one of the US versions used the music from the film Backdraft as its theme. I am not a chef, tonight I made popcorn for dinner.
