60 of 184 · most liked firstI played Azur Lane back in 2019, and like a lot of people I was excited to see the game being brought to a new dimension. The original game was a mobile gaccha. and like other gacchas relied on waifus and a visual-novel type story to make money. However unlike most gacchas Azur Lane wasn't a turn-based RPG, it was a sicescrolling, wavebased bullet hell shooter. With Crosswave's announcement of being a 3D third-person shooter I was expecting it to focus on fleshing out the gameplay and taking…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't really have too many complaints about crosswave, I just think there's a lot of wasted potential. They could've done some really cool stuff but decided a visual novel was the best way to make it more self-contained. Call me back when we're fighting against siren kaijus with the monsters that accompany ironblood characters. Literally some of the coolest design ideas i've ever seen and nobody wants to do anything with them. Yostar is sitting on an IP that could have killed hoyo and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to play the mobile game, and I love Azur Lane. So I pre-ordered this game back when it was announced, excited for a PC edition. And I got hooked for a while, still fresh at the experience. Now, speaking as a person who practically has completed Crosswave after release, you're better off playing the mobile game. It's free too. Don't get me wrong, Crosswave is a lovely game, but it could've been something so much more. Repetitive grind aside, and a story that is mostly just about joint…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Azur Lane Crosswave exists to deliver anime booba to your screen and to disappoint your parents. It has absolutely no value as a game. The action part of the game strives to be kept under 120 seconds, so if you have the attention span of a steam lettuce before your next booba fix, this is for you. The "gameplay" is extremely poor. Inventory and equipment management is irrelevant on normal difficulty, this is just serving anime booba on a platter and nothing more. Story is about as deep as the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Saved the world, improved international relationships, sunk hundreds of enemy ships and got married with my whole fleet in the way, all of this followed by an easy and fairly enjoyable gameplay, great visuals and catchy soundtracks. What else can I say? 10/10.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games that I'm afraid my words won't properly convey my feelings. In truth, I like this game, it did what I hoped it'd do when I bought it, and I'll likely even finish the story. I wanted to say all this up front because I suspect things will go downfast fast in this review. Azur Lane: Crosswave is a spin-off of a mobile series about "Ship Girls" (Anime Waifu that are also historical warships). I've not played the game, but I've always enjoyed the concept. You recruit…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I forgot to write a review for this back when the game released, probably because I was so mad about it. Yeah I mean this is basically a scam lol. $34, and $43 of DLC. What do you get for that price? The ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gameplay of the mobile version of the game but in 3D, woooooooooooooooooow, exciting. Even if you're well-off and only want waifus, this is terrible value. Crosswave never got any updates and has like, 5% of the shipgirls the mobile version has, so just install azur lane on your phone…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute waste of time and money. I got it through a discounted activation code for like $5 and now I wish I didn't even pay that much. I want to be clear, I play the Azur Lane mobile game a lot and I love it. But even as long as I played Azur Lane, this game is so boring and tedious. They include a ridiculous amount of dialogue, which for an RPG would be okay, but the story is absolutely trash so it just feels like they are trying to bloat the game to increase "play time." And to be fair, I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Azur Lane: Crosswave is a single-player 3D action spin-off that takes the franchise’s shipgirl cast and turns them into an arcade-style naval shooter. Instead of the mobile game’s management-heavy structure, it focuses on quick missions, character-driven scenes, and flashy battles designed to feel like an anime spectacle. In combat you directly control one ship in third-person, steering around the battlefield while firing constantly and avoiding incoming volleys. The pacing is brisk and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a big fan of the mobile game (been playing since 2019), I had relatively high hopes for Azur Lane Crosswave at release, and through playing it here and there over the years, I've come to find the game to be not as bad as many say, but also not amazing. Strictly a game I'd recommend for those who've at least tried the mobile game or even the anime first, or if you just really like VNs. The main issue is how the game was marketed. The screenshots and description give the impression that the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crosswave gets a thumbs up for being harmless fun, but as a "game" it has some pretty profound flaws. For the most part, it's a visual novel with a sprinkling of short and simple arcade-style battles. While the gameplay in those short battles (they last at most a few minutes each, and maybe thirty seconds if you're kitted out) is certainly adequate, everything outside of the VN scenes gets overwhelmed by the grind; level up your ship girls, level up your affinity, level up your gear, find those…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An action game based on the gacha game franchise Azur Lane where the player selects 3 playable ships (girls) that they can change in the middle of combat and 3 support ships to complete scenarios which generally involve mowing down mobs, big boss ships and other ship girls. The control are responsive. The character designs are beautiful. There are 4 different ship classes, and all of them play different enough from one another. Even ship girls from the same class are distinct enough. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Azur Lane: Crosswave is a console spin-off of the mobile gacha game, built as a hybrid between a light 3D action shooter and a visual novel, but mostly the latter. It’s mainly aimed at fans of the series, if you like the characters, their designs, and seeing them interact, this delivers. But as a game, it’s limited, with shallow combat and a heavy reliance on dialogue. I’d probably only recommend it on sale, unless you’re already a big fan of Azur Lane. Gameplay Combat puts you in control of…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute garbage, thank god i bought it when the steam store was still in pesos. I knew the game wasn't good before playing it so i had very low expectations but it was even worse than that. I expected some janky, weird gameplay that i could laugh at and get some entretainment value from it, but i got an extremely boring, dull, repetitive and braindead gameplay with 0 redeeming qualities, it doesn't even have good spectacle. You mash your attack buttons and things die, the end. If you're an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted a fun action game with cute anime girls, but this one lacks the fun part. The story isn't really interesting so I ended up skipping most of it to get to the actual gameplay, but from what I've read before resorting to skipping, the characters at least are fun to follow. The action gameplay however is another story. There is no feedback at all on your actions, so every ship feels the same even though they are played differently. Plus most of the gameplay is just keeping the target in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like an absolutely mediocre PS3 game... but if you love Azur Lane, as I do, then it's absolutely worth it. The game is primarily a visual novel, so expect more cute hijinks with the shipgirls and an as-usual insane plot with the Sirens. However, there is a gameplay element in which you can control your favourite shipgirls and have quick battles. It's basic and the game rewards you for finishing the battles in under 2 minutes so it can return to the visual novel. It's disappointing, as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's boring. That's about as blatant as i can be. The dialogue drags on and while it's impressive how much the voice actors did, the scripts and last-luster cutscenes just hurt. The combat was so bare bones that i looked up videos for future battles to make sure i wasn't going nuts and it's the same thing there as it is in the beginning: hold a button and look at an enemy for 2 minutes straight. Don't bother. The girls are cute, but everything around them is a slog

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really repetitive gameplay. No skins, pretty much a VN. Only for AL lovers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would not recommend this game unless its on a massive discount or you love the azur lane series. Since the game hasn't gotten anything since 2020, do not expect any issues to be resolved. The main 2 being failed to launch and terrible keyboard control. Overall, its a game with very beautiful visuals. Like most games I played, either I did some research or had played it before in some capacity, which includes this game. It's definitly lacking in the Quality of Life component. It had a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished the story and still have a lot of things to do, everyone says that the mobile game is better but thats not true. The mobile game is an online gatcha with a lack of story and this is a visual novel with battle elements and you can easily unlock all characters, no gatcha and other things. This is a way better, i really enjoyed it and of course i recommend it. A must play Azur Lane game!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is relatively strong in the visual novel sections of story I've seen, using a strong existing cast of characters and portraying them in a way that compliments the source material. Being a booba game, the 3D versions of the shipgirls are modelled in a way that pleases my monke brain, sadly though that's where my praise ends. Unfortunately, this game completely fails in any gameplay sense, with little depth to battles because of a simple control scheme and only gear and shipgirls to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Remember, when a game company is good at something, they capitalize the thing they are good at while making the game. For the instance of Azur Lane: Crosswave, it is visual novel. You heard me, it is a visual novel at core. It tries it's worst to hide itself as 3d action shooter game, but fails miserably at it. To put it simply, it is 90% visual novel and 10% action. You can buy the game yourself to see for yourself, I'm not stopping you. I will rant about the game before talking about good…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game being labeled as adult content is probably because it's a story about a bunch of anime waifus getting wet.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love Azur Lane Better than NIKKE.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A basic but cool third person shooter sandwiched between thick layers of visual novel. It somehow feels like a free to play and has grinds for guns, boosts to damage, misc abilities. It's a shame cause I did have a little fun customizing my ship's load outs and building a fleet but each ship type basically feels the same. I personally liked the game in a shut off the brain game but I don't recommend it especially at full price. Pros: Picture mode WW II Ships are now Waifus Beautiful artwork…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool fan service. Now you can enjoy your favorite characters in 3D! This is a mix of visual novel and TPS with RPG elements for fans of anime girls and the original Azur Lane game. Gameplay: https://youtu.be/wDtqrWVeqm0 The gameplay is simple and monotonous, but there are many beautiful ship girls. It's a real pleasure to look at them. The game has a photo mode in which you can get a good look at them (you can change poses, facial expressions, background and camera angles). The main part of…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ Shipgirls + Familiar faces (Starter squad, Prinz, Enty, etc) + Story is not just a re-hash of the gacha plot + No actual gacha mechanics, you just have to grind stages to unlock your favorites +/- Keyboard control defaults are a little wonky, but are freely customizable from the menus. -? Gameplay is a little repetitive, but if you are a long-time fan of Azur Lane, you're probably used to that and/or don't care -? Obtaining equipment blueprints is, predictably, somewhat grindy sometimes -…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: +Harem, Pantsu, Beautiful characters, Unique and sexy design, 3D anime with realistic physics (better than AAA games), Innuendo, Very large number of combinations with main and support shipgirls, All dialogues are voiced. +If you find it hard to believe that these ships are girls, think of David Martinez from *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners*. These girls have miniature ship parts and weapons attached to their bodies, which is why they are unofficially called shipgirls. The official name is…
