Atomik: RunGunJumpGun

ActionIndie

Developer ThirtyThree

Atomik: RunGunJumpGun is a tough as nails game that puts a gravity-defying weapon in your hands. One button lets you fly, the other blasts obstacles out of the way. With a cast of crazed characters, challenging gameplay, and a pulsing musical score, it delivers twitchy platforming goodness. From the Steam store page

Outstanding two-button twitch game. I get very strong feelings of VVVVVV here, which is a great thing 'cause I love that game. It looks impossible, but its really not. You don't have to collect really anything to get through - and the levels are really really short. Plus, there is a super-fast respawn mechanic, similiar to Super Meat Boy. The storyline is definately cute, but not obtrusive; the game keeps you in the action for sure. Pros: +Excellent artwork and detailed lighting +Awesome…

TL;DR --> Probably one of the best and most polished autoscrollers made out there, by a 3-people team that you can tell they've put their heart in this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE SCAVENGER'S BACK! If you're reading this, I already like you. That means you're either in my friendlist or that you have a special and good taste in videogames. I've followed this game's progress around 2 weeks before its release. I never heard…

As someone who tends to dislike masochistic games, let me tell you that RunGunJumpGun has the distinction of being brutally hard and brutally addictive at the same time. These two qualities tend to be exclusive to one another (well, at least for me), and the only game I can recall off the top of my head that marries the two better is Hotline Miami, which is itself an amazing title. Just like Hotline Miami, dying doesn't make you want to quit the game; it makes you want to try again and again.…

Planet 1 : "Hey this is fun and approachable, I can 100% this game." Planet 2 : "Hmm this is pretty hard, that's a nice challenge." Planet 3 : "Oh god this is hardcore! Why did I commit to 100% this? My fingers hurt! Can I really do this?" Then I spent 15~18 hours on planet 3, with about 6000 deaths on this planet. In the end, a very satisfying experience.

Fantastic game - and I'll admit I'm a very casual gamer. While the trailer is intense, it is a quick to learn and fairly "easy" to play game. The endless lives/smooth respawns keep you from feeling like an absolute failure and chucking the computer out the window when you mess up. ;) Disclaimer: While I was able to try this game long before it was released owing to some personal connections, I did not receive a free copy of the game. I would gladly pay more for it than $9 though!

I have never felt so conflicted about a game in my life. I wanted to love this game. I REALLY wanted to love this game and for the first hour+ I did. Controls are simple, concept is great and MOST levels are designed GREAT. The soundtrack is incredible and for the most part the game IS actually a lot of fun and challenging. So why a negative review? I honestly feel like I got tricked somehow into buying a turd with gold paint on it. This game SHOULD be a new indie gem but it's held back by a…

A hard, fair, and well-balanced arcade runner / platformer with some of the most brilliant level design I've ever seen. RGJG shows the creative limits of what a developer could do, level design-wise, in a simple game with just two buttons. The part of the game that makes you appreciate the level design even more is the collectables, though. Technically, you can complete each level just by getting from start to finish, but if you're anything like me, that half-аssеd playstyle will just leave…

RunGunJumpGun is a very peculiar game... You are only given two actions throughout the game, so there are only 2 buttons to press, one for shooting and another for boosting yourself in the air. Simple, right? You are constantly thrusted forward from the left to the right of the screen - think of it as a 2D side-scrolling runner (Jetpack Joyride) and you've got the idea. I want you to imagine the difficulty of Super Meat Boy, the psychedelic flair of Hotline Miami and a few reject characters…

No. No. Absolutely awful. I'm sorry, but who thought that combining a precision game with loose as heck flight controls was ever a good idea? I've tried to tolerate this one, I really have. But the introduction of the windmill mechanic (which looks really cool in the trailer, sure) just completely broke me. All atomiks up until that level, and then more deaths on that level than any level prior. Yeah, no. Good riddance, to be honest. This game takes its simple concept and does seemingly…

I play games and every day hope that I'll find little gems like this. Everything just comes together, the music, the colors, the silly characters, the simple controls and punishing levels. It's like SuperMeatboy and Hotline Miami had a lovechild and then raised it to be kickass.

This game did do a lot of things right like keep the stages short to compensate the difficulty and keep respawn times low, but it also has some glaring issues I can't overlook. For starters, the default control scheme is really painful on one's hands. I had to not only remap one button to the A button, but I also had to pull out antimicro to set a shoulder button on reverse throttle as well to make the control scheme even somewhat manageable. The first world isn't too bad, but starting in…

Quite a hidden gem of a game. It has a very simple premise but that's all it really needs. Tons of levels and some very cool concepts at work, if a bit frustrating at times hah. If the game was just the first 2 worlds I would say it's a bit lacking both in amount unique content and in challenge. But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if the 3rd world doesn't have both in spades. I breezed through worlds 1 and 2 like nothing, but still haven't come close to *finishing* world 3, let alone perfecting it... Absolutely worth…

Great game with a very energetic aesthetic. The graphics and music and effects are super colorful and powerful. There's also some interesting characters and story that pop up between levels. The game's also incredibly hard. I've been aiming for 100% completion, but maybe I should just settle for normal completion. It is very satisfying to beat the levels after dozens of attempts though.

This is the perfect combination of the brutality and addiction of Hotline Miami and the mindless, up down forward run and gun of Jetpack joyride! There are vivid visuals with a great sound track to match, each level feels unique and difficult, and collecting atomiks feels rewarding. There's a great mixture of well coreagraphed levels that look super difficult but play like a dream, and levels that look simple or easy and play like a trip through hell. The placement of collectibles is also…

RunGun JumpGun is a wall punchingly good game. It has a kickass soundtrack, cathartically frustrating Gameplay, and for a game who's dialogue is only a sentence or so in a textbox after each level, it has a surprisingly hilarious and satirical edge. Highly recommended.

Atomik: RunGunJumpGun is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app is yet another of several hundred, if not thousands of garbage low effort endless runners plaguing Steam. Hate the game. Mindlessly trying over and over until you memorized the level enough to finally make it. - levels arent clever, its just throwing stuff at you on mass - why would you use RB & LB instead of RT & LT - had no fun, the first levels are easy enough, but they simply ramp it up so high, that you have to play the same levels for a long period of time Stopped playing early on, it just feels like a huge waste of time, with no fun being involved. I ecommend it to SOME people, that enjoy really difficult platformers or that doesn't care much about achievements and 100% completion, but just want quality time. I feel everybody else will have a hard time with this game. So what is it about? Two buttons, one for shooting forward, the other for shooting down. Shooting down will propel you up instead of…

This game is a neat concept, but immediately upon playing it feels like the levels or the mechanics were never play tested widely enough. Even the tutorial makes it obvious the scroll speed is marginally too fast and you get run off the level very easily. Only being able to shoot OR fly is also pretty bad when combined with the previous issue, as you often can't gain enough momentum to get through gaps. Part of it is probably an aspect of 'git gud' but the game and mechanics don't make me care…

Now I'm not one to write reviews often but I couldn't help but write for this one to show my appreciation. I got this game for pretty cheap during a huge discount and thus I didn't really have high expectations from it. In fact, I had second-thoughts about it because of the lack of Linux support. Pretty much like flappy birds but with more oomph. Shoot obstacles and gun jump avoiding obstacles and collecting bits. Arcade gameplay with psychedelic visuals that will blow your head off. 3 planets divided into several rounds each with 10 levels. Stages are short and memorizing level is the most important with a bit of trial and error. For a simple arcade game it's ok, but if you're looking for something more - look somewhere else. Rocket jump out of ten.

Quick Score: 5/5 Notes: Sick autorunner. Its basically flappy bird but with a machine gun and saws and bullets everywhere. Took me 8 hours to 100% the game. Pretty challenging, but very fair. Average level length is only about 15 seconds so you never have to worry about losing a ton of progress.

Humble game that doesn't overstay its welcome, each new area introduces a gimmick which works well and is used in challenging yet fair ways, the controls are simple, only issues i have is that the story generally isn't too interesting and the game runs faster on higher fps so you need to make sure to lock it to 60 if you use 144hz or etc, but other than that a hidden gem of a game which is insanely fun for what it is!

Flappy bird with a minigun and killer presentation. Every level is the hardest jump in VVVVVV. Not as frustrating as it sounds, at least for me. The game is so twitch, it leaves thought behind, and all that's left is reflex and muscle memory. It's got a definite rhythm to it. One of the best games I've played in recent memory. The basic premise of RunGunJumpGun is very simple: Either propel yourself upwards by firing downwards in order to dodge obstacles as your character runs to the right, or fire forwards to destroy whatever obstructs your path. Two buttons. One very difficult helicopter game. And the zany cast of characters feeding you spurts of dialogue between levels adds a lot of charm. I am absolutely in love with this game.

The difficulty gets to such a ludicrously high level in the third world once said windmills of death are introduced that I admit it started to affect my enjoyment and eagerness to try and get every collectible. A trick I found is to just hold fire in certain levels and tap the other button rather than switching between the two.

It's like Metroid (looks), Hotline Miami (style) and a certain crappy, flappy bird (base gameplay) had an LSD-fueled pleasure session, and I'm very much a fan. I've unlocked the second world already (still a long way to go before I perfect world one, though), and I was happy to find a new gameplay mechanic awaiting me! ...this also looks sweet on an Ambilight set-up!

Flappy Bird meets Super Meat Boy inna dubstep style! Absolutely love this game from the minute 1 - retro pixel graphics - awesome music - ultra fast paced gameplay - play stand up in my arcade cabinet, dancing at the same time - esasier than meat boy had to stop playing cos my wife was shouting from upstairs for dinner great great game! kudos to the devs cheers!
