unlabelledView post →So, in my desire to improve my French I'm watching Asterix and Obelix. Interesting thing: For a kids' movie it's much more open about sexuality than you'd ever see from a US film. Cleopatra is always wearing skimpy clothes and several of the men are clearly quite interested in her. (1/n)

unlabelledView post →Asterix and Obelix: The Big Fight is so much fun. It's like if Sony Animation made an Aardman film.

unlabelledView post →When playing through Blood and Wine, getting to this insane Asterix reference the moment you step inside and see the familiar booths from the movie on top of a recreation of the shots for the same gags is a hell of a pull. I had a giant smile on my face the entire time. This is just wonderful.💚

unlabelledView post →20. Asterix et Obélix Mission Cléopâtre Loosely based on the 1968 frankly excellent cartoon and the 1965 comic book, this movie sees Gaul hero Asterix having to visit Egypt to help a friend build Caesar's Palace in 3 months. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Nd1...
unlabelledView post →Man we used to get documentary, real documentary not ego-stroking fluff pieces, about how movies are made! Really put the work and artistry at the center. I have this French movie, Asterix Mission Cleopatre, that comes with a making-of longer than the movie itself! It’s amazing!
unlabelledView post →Asking because I just binged the recent "Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight" on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it. I remember seeing the comic as a kid in the 90s when visiting a British friend (living in the US), but never read any of them. I kind of want to check them out now.

unlabelledView post →Certainly watching Asterix and the Vikings and it’s so much more peak than the Britain movie already with its Disney quality animation

unlabelledView post →#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Finally saw prey, I liked the idea of having a native heroine. Shallow Hal was neither Jack Black's nor the Farrelly's best film. The Wild Robot was a friend's recommendation which I really enjoyed. The Asterix movie was still fun to watch.
unlabelledView post →The Asterix animated movie "The Mansions of the Gods" had two English language versions: a UK one with well-known UK celebs doing the dubbing, and a Canadian version with relative unknowns. The latter was _much_ better! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix...
unlabelledView post →Can't make a movie where Asterix and Obelix meet American Indians without having a ceremonial pipe scene, but it's the '90s, and children will be watching this, so you have to make it very clear throughout the scene that smoking is very, very bad.
unlabelledView post →Last night I watched the live-action Asterix movie. And yes, I know all about Gérard Depardieu, but something else occured to me. The characters were very much like their comic book counterparts and... they're kinda dicks.
unlabelledView post →I wish that Americans embraced Tintin and Asterix. The 2011 Tintin movie by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson and Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight would had a great chance to make them popular and more well known in America and show them that there's other European comics besides The Smurfs.
unlabelledView post →A strange oddity I found out: The animated film "The Twelve Tasks of Asterix" is on Netflix Canada, but only accessible by searching the movie on Google and JustWatch and only with French and Dutch language tracks/subtitles. Bizarre.
unlabelledView post →If you love animated movies, you really owe it to yourself to watch the new "Asterix and Obelix: The Big Fight" movie on Netflix. Any of the recent asterix and obelix animations for that matter. Thank me later.
unlabelledView post →My parents gave me the old Betamax for my room with a decent collection of kids movie taped on TV or copied from rentals! So I was always rewatching them. And then later I got a VHS VCR to watch even more movies! Asterix movies were, collectively, probably my most played ones!
unlabelledView post →Ok I'm pretty sure this was an actual scene in the third Asterix and Obelix live action movie

unlabelledView post →3.) Asterix: Mansion of the Gods The most recent movie my friends and I watched on our Asterix marathon, and it's probably one of my favorites so far. I don't have a personal preference on which dub to choose, but overall it was pretty funny and charming
unlabelledView post →This would be AWESOME⚡(I'm thinking about the last Thor movie, when about midway through I was praying he'd turn into Asterix!)
unlabelledView post →Rewatching the Asterix movies and while Asterix and The Big Fight isn't a good 2D animated movie, there's something bewildering about the animation having the insane tone clash of being a comedy but taking itself so dramatically serious. The English dub makes it such a trip.

unlabelledView post →I absolutely love the Netflix Asterix. I was really surprised by how sharp it was, especially given most Asterix TV/movie stuff in the past couple of decades has been so weak. I guess it's the non-Depardieu-ness of the whole endeavour?
unlabelledView post →nice movie, i liked that it's a little different from the classic Asterix and Obelix movies
unlabelledView post →The Twelve Tasks of Asterix is a classic and the movie is great too.
