Checkout my full review @ https://www.manuelsbento.com/apex-2026-primal-thrills-and-physical-prowess-elevate-a-familiar-survival-formula/ Rating: B APEX is a remarkably solid, propulsive survival thriller that knows exactly what it wants to achieve and delivers on all fronts. Charlize Theron's extraordinary physicality and commitment to her own stunts are jaw-dropping, while Taron Egerton brings a wonderfully …

This might not be the most original thing in the world, but it is executed well and the characters are relatable enough to build tension. That makes the moments of fright more engaging and leaves you ultimately quite satisfied. The casting is fantastic, and of course the locales where this is shot are breathtaking. It's really not a bad movie, and I recommend it.

Just awful. I feel like I have already seen this movie a thousand times, and I did NOT even finish it. Predictable, with no story. No connection to the characters. SKIP THIS ONE!
- [2]
Predictible. A silly and boring film, unfortunately. It could have been interesting but the landscape was the most interesting thing in the film.

APEX on Netflix is a blast. Yes, the plot is ridiculous and over-the-top. But Theron does some impressive stunt work (or at least it looks like she does) and there are a handful of gasp-inducing moments. Enough to make this a worthy recommendation for date night. Not for family movie night though.
How this was made: an AI model (deepseek-v4-flash) read 34 of the 114 public posts we collected about this film and wrote the summary, likes and dislikes, citing the posts behind each point ([n] opens the post). A second AI pass checked every statement against the posts it cites; anything it could not match was removed, and code removed any statement with quotation marks, numbers that are not in the posts, or unattributed claims about people. The split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Generated Oct 9, 2026. Method
Critics, per Wikipedia
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 68% of 109 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 6.0/10. The website's consensus reads: "Benefitting from astonishing Australian locations and Charlize Theron's raw athleticism while skimping on the finer details, Apex doesn't mark the zenith of survival thrillers but makes for a solid entry." Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 58 out of 100, based on 23 critics, indicating "mixed or average" reviews. Luke Buckmaster of The Guardian gave the film two stars out of five, stating "It's hard not to be cynical about movies like Apex, or to second guess its format: a trajectory whereby the…

neutral · AI labelView post →An old film-buff acquaintance used to have a "That's it, the film's over now!" moment. It was a scene where a character would do something so unbelievably stupid, so beyond credulity, that everything after that point was impossible to enjoy. Anyway, I watched Apex on Netflix last night.

Safety Last was a real triumph and Woman of the Hour leaves me excited for what Anna Kendrick does next. I had fun with all of them.

positive · AI labelView post →There is a 2026 movie on Netflix called Apex with Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton that is sort of a spiritual successor to The River Wild. It is not “good,” really. But still. Thought you should know.

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm a fan of director Baltasar Kormákur and more so for Charlize Theron; there must be something better for them to waste their time on than straight-to Netflix race and chase like Apex...
