unlabelledView post →I had to replay this great game on PC even though I already played it on the Xbox at the start of the year. It has some annoying elements, such as the low number of matches in some areas or the need to quiet down the baby every second, but other than that, it was a fun and intense game. I also really like the character Tasi; you can relate to her during the entire game because she has been through a lot. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3620980518&tscn=1765323334

unlabelledView post →Talk about a fall from grace for Frictional Games after the fantastic prior releases, Amnesia: Dark Descent and SOMA. Amnesia: Rebirth is absolutely terrible. Incredibly cliche horror tropes, terrible writing, unbearably bad voice acting, and monster encounters that are so poorly executed that it makes you just want to stop playing the game. Amnesia: Rebirth breaks the #1 rule of all horror games: DO NOT FRUSTRATE THE PLAYER. Once the player becomes frustrated, the immersion is removed, and…

unlabelledView post →If you remove the fact that it's an Amnesia game A Machine for Pigs is genuinely such an incredibly good game with an amazing atmosphere, monster designs, story, music and specially voice acting.
unlabelledView post →I didn't personally enjoy this game as much as the Dark Descent, but it is still better than A Machine for Pigs in my opinion. The plain desert being the main setting for this game doesn't really feel like an Amnesia game, and the story is, I guess fine? Not as good as the Dark Descent but certainly better than AMFP. I do like how they added some sort of "sanity" mechanic that brings the purpose of the series though. I wouldn't recommend this game, and would only get it at a sale.

unlabelledView post →You'd think if it was this easy to cross into the other world, just by visiting Algeria, Alexander would've done it already over his several hundred year long lifespan back in The Dark Descent. I mean, this game implies Herbert was SENT by him. Why didn't he just go himself? This is a really disappointing entry into the Amnesia series, or just in general if you know what to expect from Frictional as a developer. Here's a series with a focus on nonlinear, hands-off storytelling, open-ended…

unlabelledView post →Average pregnant woman simulator. Not much else to say. In all honesty though, this game was incredible. As a woman with her own issues when it comes to having children, it hit really close to home. It’s definitely not for everyone since the main theme (in my opinion) is something specific to a decently small group of people. I wouldn’t say it’s purely “female horror”, but it also kind of is. Tasi is my favorite Amnesia protagonist because of how relatable I found her. For The Dark Descent…

unlabelledView post →Simply the worst Amnesia title. The main character is just annoying and past half of the game I just wanted her to finally stfu. The cutscenes are so bad and barely allow you to play the game without being interrupted every like five minutes. And the worst part are the puzzles. They are just straight horrendous. Find that thing then put it into this thing then find these mysterious symbols then turn these things and so on. The only reasonable explanation I could think of is that Frictional…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a nice adventure game and I give it props for the setting and themes. The game frontloads A LOT of notes and flashbacks, and Tasi talks A LOT to herself to guide the player, both of these things can be incredibly frustrating and I understand why this would be unappealing to people. However SOMA and Dark Descent get passes for things this game does not, and I don't feel like that's warranted. The game has a great setting, it's far more "Lovecraftian" than anything else that relies on…

unlabelledView post →There’s a particular kind of fear that doesn’t rely on monsters jumping out of the dark. It’s the fear of being alone with your thoughts, of remembering things you’d rather forget, of confronting the parts of yourself you don’t fully understand. That’s the feeling that stayed with me throughout the journey. At first, the desert felt vast and silent, almost peaceful in its emptiness. But the further I walked, the more that silence became suffocating like a reminder that no matter how much space…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did enjoyed this game and I actually can't see where the game deserve its "hate" if I may say so. Well, this said, I even enjoyed A Machine for Pigs eh... I hardly manage to dislike games anyway. To me a game is a good game if you manage to have good time with it by itself, as simple as that. That's why comparing things to things is the worst way to understand the potential of a single game, and is just a bias of conformism for those unable to exercise discernment. This game is objectively…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed it, though I do understand why this ended up being such a polarizing game. If you were expecting Frictional Games to innovate on their tried-and-true gameplay formula with Amnesia: Rebirth... Well, they didn't. If anything, it's a slight regression; it's more of a walking-sim this time around, much like The Chinese Room's maligned entry in the series, A Machine for Pigs (which I also enjoyed, but I digress). But unlike A Machine For Pigs, Rebirth still largely maintains its survival…

unlabelledView post →While many horror stories open with a tragedy for the protagonist, this game makes the mistake of constantly reminding you that you are playing as a woman grieving the loss of her child with another on the way. Sketched memories and audio dialogue of her sorrow play between loading screens. It turns the experience into a depressing slog. I started asking who this game is even for. It stopped being entertaining or interesting. The nonstop grief and heavy emotional weight just feels icky and…

unlabelledView post →this game is absolutely horrible. it is NOT a horror game like all the promotional material would lead you to believe. its a walking simulator that really likes to randomly stop everything and dump exposition on you, or trap you in an area with nothing going on in it until you've solved a puzzle. rinse and repeat, plus an underwhelming and pitifully short encounter with a monster like once every 30 minutes. i hated the puzzles in this game. i had to look up a walkthrough over 10 TIMES for the…
