Alien terrorists who I assume are against the idea of reincarnation decide to suicide bomb your afterlife waiting room before you get shipped off to be reborn. Now you have to take matters into your own hands and rebuild the device so you can be birthed once again. Sounds simple enough right? _______________________ PROS + Jeremy Couillard. I am…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=http://store.steampowered.com/curator/32482033/]Crim's Humble Opinion Curator Aliens Hijacked My Afterlife A strange premise for a game followed up by an even more surrealistic experience. AlienAfterlife is a short and seemingly unexplainable collage of colors, shapes, and dialogue. That's not a bad thing at all; but it does mean it isn't for everyone. You start out by dying and ascending to the afterlife; but during the process in your reincarnation aliens destroy the machine you need.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Video (gameplay + commentary): https://youtu.be/3YQppJ2XrxM Review: I enjoyed Alien Afterlife quite a bit. It's the kind of experience that I played once, then played again, and now that it's sat with me, I'll probably go in and play it a third time. THAT SAID, I think it's important to emphasize that just like the game's description mentions, it's not for everyone, and I found it useful to go into it thinking of the game as something of an art installation as much as (or more than) a game.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An incredibly surreal experience. From the art design, sound design, premise, it is all basically insane. I love it though. https://youtu.be/SZeYj2FencU
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visually fun and nice calm gameplay. After playing Escape from Lavender Island I tried this game by the same dev. Was not dissapointed. Updating my review because I thought the game was broken but when I went back and played again and realized that I the game isn't broken it was me duh :-P So basically I couldn't figure out how to get the alien alphabet out of the head on a post. I thought you collect them and then put them in the proper heads. When I went back to try again I saw that the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm recommending this one for one reason and one reason only... This is a great educational game and one can learn the dire consequences of developing a game when you are high on drugs. If your standard indie game is your brain, then "AlienAfterLife" is your brain on some serious drugs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puNzK-LGYH4&feature=youtu.be "Just Say No" ..to drugs, and probably to this game. It's not good. But like I say, I'm recommending it for creativity, originality, and as an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A feast for your senses, with brilliant and unique design, an interesting concept and just enough gameplay variation to keep it fun and engaging. All in all a very cool experience!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you've ever done drugs, you owe yourself this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easily one of the weirdest games I've played so far this year. I don't even know if anything I would describe would do justice to the things that happen in this game. If the screenshots look interesting to you, I'd go ahead and give it a shot because at the very least, you'll have a good laugh. I started a video series on Youtube if you want to see the game in action and decide for yourselves if this is something you might like:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Truly I'm a patron of the arts, ending up playing games like these. I definitely saw new things. And came out of a few things!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game stoned as hell, and it was the absolute best gaming experience I have ever had. This game is more than a walking simulator. This is an experience, that you don't even need to be stoned to enjoy. First off, the game is absolutely beautiful, but not in the same way most people believe. The imagery can be very unsettling for people who aren't going into this game with the right mindset. If you're going to play this game, expect to be unnerved, a little nervous even. But that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is what smoking DMT at the peak of a jedi flip must feel like. This game or this unique experience, as the creator calls it, is so absurd and random but yet so aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it's well worth the low price (even though i received it as a gift). If you have a few bucks to spare, no invest, then buy it. To sum it up, it's short, wack and a great way to experience psychedelic drugs when sober.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My friend robert gifted this to me. We played it together while I streamed it for him and his brother. It was a good bonding experience. They were screaming "Please stop turn it off aaaaaaaaaaaaa".
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →certainly interesting.. The last "level" lags quite a bit on my pc. I like the fact that it lets you figure out what to do, and that the story, while incredible bizarre, makes sense.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wouldnt recommend doing drugs or drinking before this game as it would be a waste, this game in itself is a very good and powerful mind trip, one should probably make use of drugs after the game so maybe they can understand what the hell they just played
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I truly cannot make sense of this game. Art, I suppose? It's nice to see someone put effort into making something like this!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jeremy Couillard is an amazing artist that is blurring the boundaries between games and art and philosophy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brilliant and surreal, this game is a surreal exploration and art gallery experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →absolute masterpiece
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No sound, but still highly recommended for the price. First off, naming the main character Bardo was genius. I love the fact that there is controller support, and at 89 cents it was a steal that I managed to mostly understand (I think) without any sound coming from the game. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's totally experimental stuff. 6-7 /10 More weird game: P1: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45665580 P2: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/46219602
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AlienAfterlife is a surreal first-person adventure that explores death, consciousness, technology, and reincarnation through an intentionally bizarre science-fiction lens. Developed by Jeremy Couillard and published by Akupara Games, it is far more interested in creating a strange interactive experience than following the conventions of a traditional action game. The premise places the player in an afterlife where consciousness behaves almost like digital information, immediately establishing a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice trip into the Alien Afterlife
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Takes about an hour to get through... you'll find yourself hoping it becomes fun at some point. Spoiler: It will not. Looks really interesting, but this is the exact definition of style over substance. The game-play is boring. The message is nonsensical. You will finish this game and regret having spent the hour playing it. Don't waste your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very, very strange game. It's decently cheap, and generally worth it. It's around 4 small levels with normal objectives and very not normal areas. very short, very odd, not entirely sure what to think about it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →amazing psychedelic alien art game where you fight some baddies, do some puzzles and explore.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it looks great but really all you do is walk around in mazes. i wish there was more to it because the graphics are crazy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I quit when the backwards ASMR whispering started. no thanks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →was a goood little adventure .
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is an artpiece
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like a raw, imaginative core to a lot of Jeremy Couillard's other games. Definitely rough around the edges and janky, feeling like a game made in the direct afterglow of a hardcore psychedelic experience (not being reductive here). Only took me an hour to beat and is dirt cheap - try it out, but would not recommend before Fuzz Dungeon, Jef, etc.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what just happened... but I loved it. First game of the series and its kind of touched something amazing in a way. I highly recommend this one. Go in blind and figure it out too, it'll hit all the dopamine receptors.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know if there's enough LSD in the world to enjoy this. I tried.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a normal game, and neither for normal people, nor to be played under normal circumstances. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Weird trippy and short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool short experience. 6/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short experience with 4 phases, if you like surreal walking sims, this might be up your alley. Feels more like a proof of concept demo - given the trippy art style it seems obvious this was an influence for later titles like "escape from lavender island" That being said, I like the trippy visuals. ...buy on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting and short surreal adventure. Each level has different objectives to provide the motivation to explore the fascinating environments. Worth checking out if the art looks at all appealing to you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not sure what to say about this, but I'm glad there are indie devs making weird, surreal stuff like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marijuana overdose with a lot of art references
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lavender Island brought me here, and i am loving the weird!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a Budhist saying that there is no such thing as reincarnation really rubs me raw and makes me unfathomably uncomfortable... 11/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is bare bones, but it's certainly a interesting environment that doesn't overstay it's welcome with the four levels different mechanics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so i got lost for 20 minutes, which is usually a deal breaker, but i put up with it, which im gla, but then it crashed. damn i dont think i coming back too this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I believe the game development was interrupted because it has no "second level" or I don't know how to proceed Anyhow, the aesthetic is trippy and lisergic. The story is grotesque and fun. Also, it's free and lasts like 20 minutes. Totally worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i absolutely love this game. wish i could buy the soundtrack!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a really weird experience. It's extremely absurd in many ways, which is something that I love so that's a good thing. I enjoyed this a lot. Many of the environments were visually very odd, which I liked, and the music is also very strange and fitting for how bizarre this game is. I have a couple of issues however. The forest level isn't very fun in my opinion, the whole thing is so visually similar at every point, so it's hard to find your way around. Another thing I didn't really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this while on acid. Couldn't make heads or tail of anything. 10/10 would highly recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as great as the creator's more recent art game efforts such as JEF, but still an interesting journey through a psychedelic artist's fizzled mind. Despite his games being relaxing wanders, I came to frustration twice, once while looking for the final piece of a puzzle in a large environment under constant droning noises, and again while wandering around in the black & white shampoo forest. Desaturating the colours rather than removing them would have been enough, but how it is started to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game if you enjoy surreal walking simulators with some light game play. Lots of great high quality trippy animation loops. Sound design is nice. The only challenge is the forest level, which is easy if you draw a map. So glad I picked this up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome piece of art
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This could have been a thoroughly enjoyable and recommendable, bizarre little surreal experience if it wasn't for the Can Town level because while all the other environments are straight-forward and rather short, this one took me more than half my total playing time and drove me nuts because of an apparent bug/glitch and wrong spawn that made me run around for a good 35 minutes or so. Besides that letdown tho, I appreciate the creativity and art direction at play here. What seems wonky and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This product may cause motion sickness and ego death.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't like the static noise in some parts of the game. Is there a way to filter the static out?
