It was completed by his studio after his passing. It's a slice of life visual novel + rhythm game set in Jakarta.
unlabelledView post →a beautiful game with a charming art style and a story that hits you right in the feels. I love the blend of vn with rhythm game as well as the interactive environment and occasional dialogue options which keep you immersed in the game. However even without these elements, the deep and meaningful character relationships and story would be enough to keep me hooked. I genuinely feel like I care for the characters, and I’m interested to see how their relationships may grow and change. As for the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →( full review with screenshots: https://www.gaming-parrot.com/post/afterlove-ep-review-ghosted ) Afterlove EP describes itself as being part dating sim, part narrative adventure, and part rhythm game. The game spends a lot of time on the idea of spreading yourself too thin, and it's a lesson that it should have taken to heart. None of AEP's parts a fully fleshed out, and all have flaws that hold the game back in one way or another. It might have been more successful if it had picked one idea…

I’m so lucky to have written for both Afterlove EP & Winter Burrow, and so proud of everything the Pikselnesia & Pinecone teams have achieved. Two incredible, emotional games!

unlabelledView post →this game is so worth playing, with a caveat! i would NOT recommend this game if you have experience with real grief in your life, not because the game is an inaccurate depiction but because it's so frustratingly realistic. it is a long ride to healing in this one, the main character is genuinely going through it the whole time, and if you've experienced losing a loved one and coping in a way that is less than perfect, you'll likely be reminded of the really awful parts. the irritability, the…

unlabelledView post →Wrote about Afterlove EP, a rare piece of posthumous video game art. The things I don't love about the game itself are arguably what make it stronger as a sort of meta reflection on grief and how loss leaves loose ends. www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/after...
unlabelledView post →Get The Game on discount I enjoyed this game until the middle of it. I can't really stand Cinta's voice in my head. Because I know that she's not real, she's just a manifestation of Cinta inside Rama's head so it makes everything that she said to just be Rama's ego. It's so hard to make Rama likable in this game (I know that's the point, Rama is just a dense character), but I don't think it's a good idea to make the player sides with the other band members. I actually adore the addition of…

unlabelledView post →Afterlove EP is a moody slice-of-life visual novel with rhythm game moments, set against the backdrop of modern Jakarta. You step into the shoes of Rama, a musician still haunted by his girlfriend Cinta’s voice after her passing. It’s equal parts storytelling, music, and introspection—quiet, emotional, and personal. Pros ✔️ Well-drawn visuals – The hand-drawn, manga-inspired art by Soyatu was very well done and had a very unique and signature vibe that had a well thought out style and colour…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From the get-go, I can tell this game is not for me. Artstyle is great, music is too. My biggest issues are two things: the juvenile writing and Cinta. I don't know if I'm snobbish or just imagining it, but the writing and dialogue in this game seems very amateurish? People don't talk naturally, NPC dialogue is strange and random, it just became apparent to me as I played the first hour of the game. Also when I played more and more and realized Cinta was voiced the whole game and what the…

unlabelledView post →A beautifully hand drawn game about love, loss, and moving on. Actually, there is very little game play, so interactive visual novel is probably a better way to describe AfterLove EP. My only issue with the game is it not having chapter/day select. When you make achievements based on different roads taken, you should not have to replay the entire game to earn them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's start with the high points: music carries hard on this one and is pretty good. Gave me a bit of a Persona-like chill vibe, while doing the social events. Writing ranges between "just okay" and "fine" for the most part, for me personally. Didn't have many high nor low notes (again, for me, other people may feel different). It felt kind of preachy at times, but not so much so, that I was too annoyed by it. Where the real problems started for me, was with some of the triggers. Events…

unlabelledView post →Okay... so....... I JUST NEED MORE SATRIA!!!! The game is great if you enjoy yelling at the monitor through out the entire game play and at the end of it, you realise you're just yelling for no reason which says the narrative and story is compelling enough to invoke such feelings. Whether you feel or think you can relate or judge the characters, it's very interesting to join another on a journey, whether that leads to tragedy or happiness. KEY points I understood from this game is just self…

unlabelledView post →The music is really good. I love Suaka. Also I like the unique artstyle. But I don't recommend the game because of the writing /storytelling. Of course there must be conflicts to keep a story moving, yet how Afterlove EP handled conflicts... it's just making me feel quite juvenile. Rama and his band members kept arguing about the same things, and every time Tasya spoke she kept emphasizing how she sacrificed for the band and how irresponsible Rama was to abandon the band. The conflicts could be…

unlabelledView post →AfterLove EP is a beautiful game set in Jakarta about love and love lost. It was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it. The dialogue was interesting, and I kept wanting to find out if she was real or only in his head. Can't wait to completely finish it. Cons: none of your choices really seem to change anything, and they say the same things either way, making it more like watching a movie rather than a game (though the music minigames were fun). It's also really hard to get…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Over the weekend, I finally finished Afterlove EP by Pikselnesia. It's a beautiful game that deals so well with the messiness and flawed nature of human beings, struggling to connect with one another through grief, trauma and things said and unsaid.

unlabelledView post →I cannot in my good conscience recommend this game. Story has its moments (both good and bad) I don't have complaints regarding with the main story of Rama & the band. but the things that you will mainly do is to interact with 3 people which all of them are love interest for Rama. 2 of them i experienced in my playthrough is so bad (e.g. in one story they have a major fight because of something, and next time you meet them, suddenly the forgive and just move on ???). The Gameplay is also…

This was an touching and emotional experience. The characters and scenarios are well written.
