Adventures in Babysitting
Directed by Chris Columbus
When plans with her boyfriend fall through, high school senior Chris Parker ends up babysitting the Anderson kids, Brad and Sara. What should be a quiet night in, however, turns into a series of ridiculous exploits, starting when they leave the house to pick up Chris' friend Brenda. Soon, Brad's buddy Daryl is involved, and the group must contend with car thieves, blues musicians and much more. From TMDB

positive · AI labelView post →The best and most iconic MCU casting was Vincent D’Onofrio… as Thor… in Adventures in Babysitting in 1987

positive · AI labelView post →Just finished the 1st 2 eps of Star Wars #SkeletonCrew. I love it. I half expected 'Star Goonies' from the piratey stuff, but to me it's more Adventures in Babysitting so far, which is an awesome fish-out-of-water movie. Anyway, now to read the reviews to find out how wrong I am for enjoying it.

neutral · AI labelView post →Watched ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING. Incredible period piece: -80s movie trope of “Whiteys taking over a Black music performance” -Playboy magazine as a MacGuffin -Full excavation of suburban fears, like “Falling Down Jr.” -The undefeatable power of curly “big hair” …but enough about Vincent D’Onofrio

positive · AI labelView post →I continue a years long Anti-Columbus Day tradition of pretending that “Columbus Day” is meant to be a day to recognize the works of filmmaker Chris Columbus. Sitting down for a screening of Columbus’ greatest film, Adventures in Babysitting.
positive · AI labelView post →another movie in this genre is Adventures in Babysitting, suburbanites venturing into the big scary city & getting car trouble. Rewatched a few years ago was struck by how there was a much more attractive PoC possible love interest that was completely ignored in favor of sad assassin from scandal

Lastly, Adventures In Babysitting, a coming-of-age Chicago film that pales compared to Risky Business and Ferris Bueller IN MY OPINION

positive · AI labelView post →When you looks at movies like Adventures in Babysitting from 1987; you think “fuck this movie aged terribly”; however if you look at reviews of the movie at the time; you see that critics lambasted it for its problematic content….so it was clearly seen as problematic even during the 80’s.

positive · AI labelView post →I had no idea that Private Pyle was only Vincent D’Onofrio’s 4th-ever film credit. Arguably one of the most memorable supporting rolls in the last 50 years of film! His next credit after that? Adventures in Babysitting. What a varied career. I bet you could do a “Six Degrees” of D’Onofrio too.
