This is an enhanced poker game. The early game could be a bit RNG dependent and slow paced. Mid to late game are much more enjoyable once you level up enough and get most of the key cards. At the end game you can finish most of the enemies before they move regardless of the draw. Overall it's quite a fun experience. Achievements require S rate and above for all stages and max level for all characters. Hunter Archer build and Enchantress Debuff build are highly effective builds that can…

Played right up until I got a "For game balance reasons, two pair can't be used in an attack" message. You either want to make a game based on poker or not. This sucks, and the other rules seem extremely arbitrary and overly complex. Definitely do not recommend this.

Looking for another deckbuilder RPG game but this time with poker-like combat and a nice idea for itself? A&A got you covered. I must admit I've probably spent far more time in this game that I should have, but it hooked me to the T. The gameplay is overly satisfying and that's what the core game is about, with plenty of unlockable content and various deck possibilities, making the game a very satisfying experience. I don't have much more to say, if you liked Slay the Spire or any other game…

A masterpiece, nonpareil in a very specific niche. People have been coming up with clumsy solitaire dungeon crawlers based on the physical 52-card playing card deck since at least the birth of Dungeons and Dragons (and probably before). I've read the rules of a lot of those and played a couple runs of a few. They're all pretty mediocre, but for some reason it seems to be a fascinating design trope for countless amateurs who think "if I could just get this right..." This game gets it right.…

Not sure why this game is getting some poor reviews. Here is a simple list of what I enjoy most about this game: - lots of different characters and play styles to choose from! - beautiful imagery, narration elements, and thoughtful stories - you can build your own deck to use in story mode or play a rogue-like deck builder - even after 40 hours I'm still unlocking new things for my character! - has modes that are more challenging & will keep you playing over and over until you succeed! I…

Since one of the "most helpful" reviews right now has 1.1 hours game time and says that the game feels boring since "there is too much luck involved and the heroes feel weak", I'd like to counter with my 2.8 hours of game time and say that the game is actually quite charming and fun. Luck is involved, but I haven't lost a single fight yet, even though I just try the different standard decks of the different heroes so far, while going through the story mode. Using abilities at the correct time…

Can you believe this game was made before Balatro? Balatro's demo released 4 months after the full release of this game. Sort of like Blackjack and Degenerate Gamblers, another game coincidentally published by the Yogscast publishing arm, this game has the misfortune of being Balatro-adjacent before Balatro swept the market. A separate and interesting note is that BaDG and Balatro were both inspired by Luck Be A Landlord, which independently inspired Ballionaire, which has spawned it's own…

Game is pretty annoying to get started. Tutorial is bad, it's explanations are bad, the cards trying to tell me a story while I am trying to figure out the game is really annoying and drags out the intro a ton. Playing cards and then random cards being discarded because card cost isn't explained is not fun and is infuriating. Will probably give it another chance later but overall a terrible first experience. Tried again, theres no way to redo the tutorial so I have no clue how to learn the…

I wish I liked this game but it just feels boring. I think its because there is too much luck involved and the heroes feel weak. The enemy can simply get a pair on their attacks a few turns in a row and you probably won't have that so you can just die even if you didn't do anything wrong. That doesn't feel good. I like that there are permanent upgrades you can get but the ones I got also just felt really weak.

Solid deckbuilder roguelite! The poker aspects serve as a base for a unique card battler system. The balance seems well dialed in and the gameplay grows in nuance as systems interact. One of the highlights is the "flowery" prose of the narration, although it can sometimes make things more confusing to understand. The story is essentially a tale woven by a DM with imaginative scenarios and challenges that must be overcome. And there's much more depth I haven't gotten to yet since I'm writing…

This game is very weirdly balanced, I really want to like it, like really really want to like it, but the ability deck building is up to pure RNG if you can get the cards to even make a deck that you want to play, summons have an arbitrary limit on one character, and always going for defense is objectively the best option at all times despite that they try to give you so many ways to attack better, except if you take the attack you're left to defend with unknown cards against enemies that will…

Didnt seem as though a single choice I made mattered, and level up choices were limited to 1 of 3 choices to start with. I hope this all gets better as time goes on, but the UI is obscure as it is and it felt like a trudging through the game before you are allowed to get out of tutorial mode.

Aces and Adventures offers little excitement in terms of gameplay, and the narrative is so uninteresting that I couldn’t even tell what it was about. I was initially drawn in by the poker aspect, but it quickly became dull, with a clunky UI and an unbearably slow pace. Most of the time, you're just playing high cards and using mostly ineffective abilities, which makes it feel more boring than poker without money. Ultimately, it becomes a tedious experience, and I can't recommend it to anyone…

I bought this very cheap so I won't refund it. BUT, this game has one of the worst RNG ever. The enemies obviously know what cards on our hand and they mock us by being so obvious about it. you have 2, 5, 7, 9, and 10 eh? Here I'll attack with a J oh you attack with a Q? I'll counter with a K more than half of the times, they will +1 us. Good example of the roguelike deckbuilder genre. Unusual in that it lets you configure your whole deck before the game begins [other than powers and cards that might be modified along the way, which is a minor effect compared to your starting deck]. The graphical settings overkill made me laugh a bit - it ran sluggishly and made my GPU very hot when I first started it, but turning the settings down made it behave reasonably. I really really don't need motion blur in my deckbuilding card…

It’s what happens when Texas Hold’em crashes into a D&D campaign and decides to stay for dinner. You’re not just playing cards, you’re casting spells with a full house and critting goblins with a royal flush. Strategy meets sorcery, and somehow, it works. Deck building is snappy and battles are addictively tactical. Surprisingly deep, dangerously replayable, and just the right amount of nerdy.

Seems to have been developed at the same time as Balatro, so I don't think it's a ripoff, but it comes off as that game + inelegant bloat. Most of the "poker combat" is based around singles and pairs - more complex hands actually invalidate other core mechanics and don't sit nicely alongside the rest of the game. I like that it has a theme besides "getting points," but the writing is a chore to read. Flowery language doesn't make your generic fantasy story smarter. Can't neg what is ultimately…

Aces and Adventures is a deep and complex deckbuilder that is sliced up into bite sized story chapters. I didn't find this format all that enjoyable, but the overall game is still amazing and the voice acting and delivery is top notch. The base game provides five different classes and eventually a generous amount of cards to select from. Later on, there will be more map based path adventuring which I find much more enjoyable. Artistic theme for this game is all over the place with the 3D main menu, which also has no info on what each area means, making the menu utterly useless, and the core game being in high fantasy 2D art. Very fun deckbuilding/pocker game + RPG-lite-ish elements indeed. Reminded me of a mix of Balatro / Slay the Spire / Monster Train / Inscryption. This game is extremely enjoyable - I spent 10+ hours just playing primarily with the 1st character only, and there are 5 of them! It's OK? Maybe I need to complete all the content to get to that "wow" moment, but I haven't had much of a "wow" yet. Putting together a tiny engine is neat, but it does remain tiny. The number of choices seems relatively small, compared to competing games. Hands are small. Runs are short. There does not seem to be enough there there for things to come together, although maybe there is more after you grind to level 30 in a class or tackle the later campaigns. Simple, but elegantly done. I think that's the best description for this game. Everything feels minimal, but polished. The art, the gameplay, the menus. It's an excellent turn based card RPG. Fans of games in the genre (Slay the Spire, Monster Train) will probably enjoy this. One complaint: I didn't fully understand the game mode selection at first. It uses vague names to define whether you're doing adventure, spire run, etc. But you'll get the hang of it quick enough.

Maybe I'm missing something, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of poker in this poker game. On offense, you can't tell what your opponent is going to respond with, so unless you have a really high single card or a decently high pair, it's basically random chance whether or not your attacks will work. On defense, you can see what you're being attacked with, but you have to use the same number of cards as your attacker, so having an actual poker hand doesn't matter in this scenario. The…

While an interesting concept, the game suffers from a critically unbalanced card pool. Some characters can walk through every enemy without letting them act (like the Mage), and others offer really absurd power gaps between a "good" turn and a turn where you are ending the run (like Enchantress). Attempting to backtrack and do older missions to grind up mana for levels only results in you running into Lv 1 enemies that somehow now have the Divine Light Of Victory leaking from their pores, and…
