60 of 103 · most liked firstAs of writing this I am the first person releasing a review here. So in case you were wondering, this game IS like Little Nightmares 1&2 and Limbo and others like it. SO if that's something you're looking for, then this is a great pick. Overall the game is really well done. It does have a very frustrating attack of errors once you try starting it. It also keeps trying to open up my VR function every time it launches despite the fact it doesn't work or connect with VR in any way, shape or…

The Issue was reported and the devs have acknowledged it, promising a fix... 4 months ago at the time of this review. As of now, I cannot recommend this game on Steam because I consider it an incomplete game. EDIT 04/21/2023: Still not fixed after 8 months. EDIT 08/22/2023: Still not fixed after 1 year. (on Aug 23, 2023 a developer stated in the forum that they are aware of the issues and will release a fix…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know what would be a great idea, not allowing the players to rebind the restart key. Better yet, let's just put the restart key right next to the key that you need to use often so whenever you misclick you're teleported all the way back to the beginning of a level (not the last checkpoint). Other than that, the game is like an aliexpress version of Little Nightmares with clunky controls. The story got something going for it but I just couldn't be asked to continue because I accidentally…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was definitely on the struggle bus a couple of times in this game, but I can't see how the game is 2 hours or shorter for other reviewers. The main game was, yes. There is more to it than that though, and as you can see, I'm 4 hours in. I still haven't finished it. For a 2-hour game the price is a bit steep, but you should get more hours than that out of it. I think some people are missing where to click to play more. I do agree with one thing others have said, if you're a fan of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game doesn't save your progress at all or settings and devs seem disinterested in fixing it. Abandoned broken and still for sale. Edit: For Devs - I'd just escaped the spider boss
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a beautiful 3d puzzle-platformer where the environment scrolls horizontally left and right. and more rarely towards the back and front. I mean that you're not always stuck on the same 2d plane, like in standard 2d platformers, and that you don't control the camera as you want, as you do in most 3D platformers. But I didn't miss that. It made me think of Little Nighmares with the perspective, the graphics and the puzzles, but without the horror elements. Except for the big spider…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Tale of Paper is a short, 2.5D adventure platformer, heavily inspired by Little Nightmares, that looks promising, charming, and pretty but is quite lackluster, and impossible to 100% due to a broken achievement. It is not really a bad game, but I can not recommend it due to the terrible keyboard controls and lack of a remapping setting, which makes certain actions and movements incredibly frustrating, and the aforementioned broken achievement, which is an issue the devs knew about for almost…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a slog to play. I purchased it for £2 from a Key code and I would say that's its fair price range. Story is dull and boring. I tried so hard to like it but couldn't. The save system pushed me over the edge. It puts you so far back after you have finished a section. Its soul destroying. Game play starts off fun but loses itself pretty quickly where it repeated multiple times. No way is this worth anything over a fiver.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's very sweet you should def try it, but it's very short took me 1 hour to finish it. I am sad :(
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can see the intent. Visuals and music are good. A bit too slow, but the game could have been fine. I was thinking at first I'd leave a positive review, but as bugs, lag and jank built up, I wished Steam would allow meh ratings. Then I hit the end of the game. There is a music puzzle. I can't do music. Three of my hours played were in that one room, just switching music notes in every single possible order, one by one, til I got it right. Three times in a row. Wish I had known before I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It would be nice if the devs fixed the issues from the "bug report" thread they created themselves.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game. Looks great and has a lovely soundtrack, especially the third act. But the third act's boss fight- Oh hell no. For such a chill game it completely takes you out of it. It's not fun to have your slow little paper dude get annilhated by a much faster boss over and over again. (Seriously. It one hit kills you and you need to make it through 3 different stages that repeat multiple times. I didn't realize I was playing Dark Souls). I guess it would've been fine if the whole…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a mediocre mix of Unravel and A Boy And His Blob. I died a lot because of the bad 3D platforming and a three-phase boss fight that kills you in 1 hit. There aren't really any puzzles, just "enter the code". There is supposedly some kind of story but I couldn't discern it. Lots of invisible walls though. The game isn't bad, but it isn't worth your time unless you are dying for another 2.5D platforming adventure.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Keeping this short and sweet. Game : Very Little Nightmares inspired, Artwork is beautiful, sound design has been thought about. Game Length : 2 hours.. Ish.. If you didn't get stuck on the boss fight like I did at the end for 30 mins hahah! worth the price? I would have to say for a 2 hour game.. £15.49 is a bit steep for that lack of content! However, if you are basing the game off of pure design, art work, sound and gameplay then it is worth the money and also this game was really CUTE!…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First, 3d platforming where the 3rd dimension matters and you can't control the camera. That should be a game dev sin. Second, boss achievement that forces you to restart not just the fight but the entire freaking level to try to get it, that should also be a sin. Third, it appears that instead of fixing an achievement (related to the spider chase apparently), they removed it? Dumb.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a lot of promise. Atmosphere, graphics, puzzle quality... all of it looks good. Unfortunately, after playing for a bit, I realized there was no "save" option. I assumed there must be an autosave after each puzzle - I was four or five achievements into the game, so surely I'd hit save points? I still don't know the answer. "Continue" restarted the game from scratch, and I had the same result on a second, shorter test. I'm not going to try to finish the game in one sitting, so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Give this a chance, and if you beat it make sure to stay till after the credits :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this game, but there are a few things that annoyed me. The game got very slow and sluggish for me occasionally. The graphics quality and game resolution settings didn't seem to have any notable effect. My PC can handle other games and VR perfectly fine, so that was a bit odd. The game saves your progress what seems like only once per chapter, and it does not seem to tell me when it does so. This makes taking breaks a bit frustrating. A lot of the platforming involves…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was going to leave a positive review until I got to the Boss fight at the end of Unfolded Melody. After the huge difficulty spike and the fact that it's in such cramped quarters, after the 10th or 11th death, I had enough. Not even close to fun, and it just brought to the surface a lot of the problems with this game. First of all, it's incredibly slow loading, and unresponsive at the menu and settings. Second of all, the checkpoint system is broken, so that if you don't finish the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clunky, Snooze-fest Little Nightmares-like platformer. This game would make Little Nightmares look like a masterpiece. And I hated Little Nightmares. Very rigid and slippery platforms, abysmal controls and the most abhorrent thing about this is the automatic save whenever I open this game! Devs be like, progress be damned, lets put this guy in the back of the level!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't save when I want and have to start way back from my progress, ♥♥♥♥ YOU devs!!!!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The artwork is beautiful, soundtrack is nice, and the game play is fun. It's a short game, (my time played reflects my getting up and doing other things with the game on) but definitely worth a play.

unlabelledView post →First of all, do yourself a favor and if you're using xbox controller disable steam imput: after that the game became playable for me. A Tale of Paper is a very nice adventure platformer with a little dose of puzzles here and there, something you could find interesting. I liked the atmosphere from its visuals matched with this inspired soundtrack, and if it's relatively short is able to offer a good entertainement. Unlike other players I didn't encounter any bugs during my play run, and I was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I kinda wish steam gave an ability to say "meh". It's not a /bad/ game I don't think there is a story, or if there is it isn't very clearly stated, I'm about an hour and a little in and there has been no story describes aside from what you can piece from your char. As for the pathing, I couldn't imagine trying to play this on keyboard and mouse, I had to use a controller to even leave the menus, and with how wonky the platforming is, I think I would have rage quit an hour ago if I had to use…

Maybe it's because I only received it recently. Dunno! Yes, it is kinda like Little Nightmares, but it's not. Same same, but different. First of all, one had a publisher like Bandai Namco, and the other one is an indie release,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3d platformer, kind of like Little Nightmares games, but not as defined art style. Not bad art style just doesn't stand out as much as said games. Simple platforming and 'puzzles'. Just over 2 hours and I tend to play games slow. I recommend it at a decent discount, but not at full price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Top class game! This didn't feel like a small Indie Game at all. Some of my thoughts when straight to games like Little Nightmare when it came to the look of the game. I would love to see more of games like this from you. So atmospheric and fun game mechanics. Highly recommend to play this game with a Gamepad. This game wasn't what I though at first. It was better!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An absolutely wonderful experience! I enjoyed every minute of it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice game, good mechanics, but extremely short
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very short, but a great experience. It's like Little Nightmares without the horror.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked up this little gem on sale for around $3. Bargain of the century ! Amazing game, a complete mystery at purchase. Trailer looked cool and at 90% off, why not take a chance. And I am glad I did. The story follows an origami figure that can fold into other creatures, which gives certain powers to overcome certain obstacles. Premise is simple though genius and charming. The game is a linear platform but not 2D, you can move to about in all directions though limited. Graphics are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was an enjoyable game, but I feel like it's an 'on sale' game for sure. At the current price of $20 it feels a bit .. just lacking. The music is good, though not many tracks, but it sets the tone very well and is very gentle. The art and design is pretty decent, I think I only fell once because I was running and couldn't quite tell where the little pin lets were landing, but otherwise navigation was painless and obvious. The puzzles where very easy except for one where I have no clue…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game, I can definitely recommend it. It’s simple to understand and just a fun platformer overall. It reminded me of Little Nightmares
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think I'd recommend this game. Most of it is fun, with clever puzzles, good visuals and a nice soundscape. I enjoyed most of my time and the whimsy of playing around in different shapes. But it's not a casual game, despite appearances. The cons suck the joy from the positives, which is compounded by the ridiculous boss battle in Melody. Sections where you die over and over again because of the poor depth perception and unhelpful camera angles. Bugs that force you to restart the level…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is super cute and magical. There are very few games that I play start to finish in one sitting. I hope there are more games like this <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is simple yet unique in it's in own sense, it tells a story in a most unique way through paper!!! One thing to watchout for is the 60 frame lock which can be frustrating but don't let that stop you!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i really liked this game, it had the cutest ending ever there were a few parts i didn't like, but i'm so glad to have played this i can't stop thinking about it for days after finishing the game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to 100% the game, but the save system is detracting from the experience. I just launched the game and it has no progress saved, I'd rather not replay to get to where I was(I played about 30 minutes), and will leave it here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been playing A Tale of Paper: Refolded on PS5 recently, only a tiny, indie game, but heaps of fun!
unlabelledView post →A Tale of Paper: Refolded is not really outstanding, but it's overall a nice and creative game. It has its issues, like the 3D environments aren't presented the best way because of the moving camera, and tend to lead you off ledges and planks, but its pretty generous death-respawn points make it acceptable. If you exit the game, however, checkpoints only work at the beginning of each level. Better to know this, but not a real issue on its own. You also can't rebind the control layout, and you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a short and fine game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →System: Windows PC Rating: 54/100 Playtime: ~1.5 Hours Saw this and was thinking it gave off Little Nightmares vibes, but unfortunately those expectations were too lofty. The game is alright, and it worked as expected aside from some stuttering that was odd. The game was unfortunately just very bland, including a chase that could've been very fun. The enemy chasing you was one of the most generic options, and the setting wasn't enough to carry through. The second half was way more interesting…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tutorialisation is not good and level design as well. It's not always clear how to proceed and it feels like it's the games fault. Also 2.5D in my experience often doesn't work well for platformers. i regularly missed the box I tried to jump on simply because of the perspective. Additionally, not well optimized for wide screens. It is simply zoomed in, so the character is partially cut off at the lower bottom of the screen. I permanently have to push the right cursor down to correct this. In…

They are the publisher, not the dev but took the call to pull them with the lack of comment/support from devs. Will change my review to positive because as i said, the game itself is fun. Just the bugs and lack of dev support hold it back terribly. EDIT 20/4/24: Dev left a comment but I am assuming they have not…
