unlabelledView post →LOVE ACTUALLY isn't a "classic" btw. It's just a crap film from 2003, like THE LIFE OF DAVID GALE, or 21 GRAMS
unlabelledView post →When I saw 21 GRAMS I thought “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie with not one joke in it before” and of course a finger on the monkeys paw curled because Iñárritu has now made about 3 bombastic comedies that also have no funny jokes somehow
unlabelledView post →One time I had a job helping with movie projection and I had to carry a 35mm print of 21 GRAMS (Alejandro González Iñárritu, 2003) from the van up to the projection booth. Never felt more lied to by a movie title
unlabelledView post →something I've never forgotten is when I saw the premiere in Toronto of 21 GRAMS; Iñárritu introduced the cast and when he got to Benicio del Toro he yelled "This man... is an ANIMAL!". The movie was bad

unlabelledView post →Oh no, he's terrible. Hasn't made a good film since Amores Perros, and I only say that because I haven't seen it since the mid-00s. I revisited 21 Grams earlier this year. Didn't go as well as I'd hoped.
unlabelledView post →Name a good movie you'd describe as "pretty damn bleak"🖤 21 Grams. Arguably my "favorite film of all time." But it is dark as fuck. But Naomi Watts, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro star in it. You know the acting is going to be phenomenal.
unlabelledView post →I knew in the *first shot* of 21 Grams that I was going to hate that movie with every ounce of my being, and I was right. If I could have walked out of the cinema then I would have. Sean Penn sitting smoking moodily on an unmade bed as Naomi Watts sleeps beside him, since you ask.

unlabelledView post →21 Grams (2003) is a top-ten non-linear film exploring human nature and desperation as three lives unravel after a tragic car accident. Sean Penn inhabits his role, while Watts embodies grief, perfectly complementing Del Toro’s self-loathing. A raw experience and highly recommended.

unlabelledView post →I like Iñárritu! I really enjoyed Birdman, and back in the day, 21 Grams. I sincerely hope the movie is good and many people enjoy it, even if it's not my personal thing. But I have to say, based on the trailer, it doesn't look promising. 🙁
unlabelledView post →#288. 21 Grams (Rewatch) - 7/10 The acting in this movie is EXPLOSIVE
unlabelledView post →I recall some hated it. I liked it initially, but the more I thought about the more angry it made me with the movie. I saw 21 Grams and Biutiful, but have no memory of what happened in either. I do want to revisit Amores Perros, though
unlabelledView post →21 Grams. But it's also 1 of 2 times in my life I physically couldn't stop laughing during a movie.
unlabelledView post →I won't watch any movie unless I receive assurance from at least 1 of 2 people (always the same people) not that they like the movie but they think I will. I once saw Love Actually & 21 Grams on the same night & nothing like that can ever happen again.

unlabelledView post →The jumping back in time & non-linear narrative is a little over done here in this film, more so than in Amorres Perros. In 21 Grams, there’s a good balance of the going back & forth, though bordering on pretentious. The Rinko Kikuchi storyline could have easily been its own film to some degree.
unlabelledView post →Thank god for Steam and the global accessibility. All it takes is trying to buy an indie film to watch, to realize how much of a walled garden every video platform truly is. I want Amores Perros on Apple TV - I’m offered 21 Grams instead. Netflix peddles mostly its own wares, offering Baby instead.

unlabelledView post →21 Grams is, well, thin as fuck thematically but when you take the timelines and “memento” it then add THAT cast, I’ll admit I find it compelling. I’m a sucker for feel-bad movies that vaguely gesture at big themes (The Sweet Hereafter is a similar, but WAY better example of this type of film).
unlabelledView post →we've had 20 years now of definitively having the measure of Iñárritu (Amores Perros: pretty good!; 21 Grams: well it's kind of the same thing but more self-serious but it's only his second film, he can recover; Babel: oh no this is just how this guy is), if he's for you then go with god
unlabelledView post →21 Grams (Alejandro González Iñárritu, 2003; Focus Features) - 7/10 It is good for Alejandro's first American movie but if the tragic narrative structure resolves a little more development to the main characters it coulda been great!
unlabelledView post →Re-watching a scene from 21 Grams (a.k.a., my favorite movie of all time) with Naomi Watts in the "where are they?" scene. Movies don't often make me cry, but this scene did. If you've never seen it, I recommend it (it's my favorite movie for a reason) but it cuts really, really deep.

The original, not the bloated remake. Also, 21 Grams. I love this movie so much. It is an emotional cyclone

unlabelledView post →I've been randomly jumping around early/mid 00's movies that had any Oscar noms and landed on 21 Grams (Del Toro Supporting Actor Nom, 2004) Interesting movie but baffling layout. 3 couples(?) with interconnected stories and it just randomly caroms around in the timeline. Hard to follow.

unlabelledView post →21 grams the movie was such a beautifully constructed story. It had the rawest of emotions that are intense. Some may find the content a bit heavy but I thought it was pure craft. The way the story unfolds into each other is fabulous. It’s a film about the basics of human nature. 21 grams is the weight of your soul apparently once it leaves your body when you die.
