unlabelledView post →#justbeatit 198X, a brief ode to ‘80s gaming genres, arcade culture, and teen angst, in the form of a narrative mini-game set. I would have liked two to three times as much of everything. More of each individual game, more games total, more story. But I liked what I got. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

unlabelledView post →In high school (198x) I had a friend who liked to write games for the Commodore 64. I don't know if he ever wrote an actual game. He did however write a long series of ever more elaborate loading screens. Just born with the demoscene itch I guess. Hope he found his people, eventually.
unlabelledView post →I wonder how many copies this Commodore 64 game sold back in 198x ?
unlabelledView post →Also, my Session Zero for Howling Metal, the game I'm writing and running where a metal band has to rock its way out of Hell to save 198X Cleveland, was a blast. My group wild make almost anything fun, but the system also provided some fun, which is def a goal #TTRPG

unlabelledView post →🎮 2026 Game #65: 198X I like the idea of weaving together a little collection of retro games with an overarching storyline, but the execution here is weak. Each game is extremely simplistic (one button beat 'em up?) and the story connecting them was a bit too angsty for me. 4/10 #IndieGames
unlabelledView post →Devil's Wheel (198x) A truly weird game that I never figured out how to play properly. You're a bear and have to navigate circular paths, jumping from one to another where they connect, and you must avoid getting stung by wasps. I think the point is to bring honey back to your cubs in the cave. 1/2

In the lot is a 198x model year sports car — bright red, low to the ground, meant to be seen. Let's call it a Corvette. Door opened. Hulk Hogan stepped out. The man knew his era and never left it.

unlabelledView post →198X If you're looking through a quick blast of 80s & 90s video game nostalgia, this is the game for you! There's even a pop-culture coming of age storyline, providing a backdrop to the arcade haven & the games contained within. Wonderful pixel artwork, + sound & music.
unlabelledView post →Just played through 198x again. That is a great experience if you grew up during the arcade days. Very sad and beautiful game bursting with amazing pixel art! I can really relate to the story too as I lost people during my childhood like so many. This game kind of hints at that and is worth checking out if any of the above sounds remotely interesting :) #PixelArt #steam #gaming #198x

unlabelledView post →Anything specific in mind? If you're in the mood for lo-fi or synthwave then the 198X OST is awesome. The South of Midnight OST is great too, but I'm not sure how well it'll work outside of the game.
unlabelledView post →It's like the same thing with Warhammer 40k; we *could* be playing a game where all our units are flat 20x20mm squares on a map (ala firelock 198x) firing artillery over the horizon at each other or we could have a setting with chainsaw swords and guys waving around banners and stuff.
unlabelledView post →#8 finished in 2025 198X NS Love letter to classic games of the 80s. 5 levels - each one of them based on different gameplay. It is all enjoyable and not too difficult nor too easy to breeze through the game. Leaves you wanting more of it but enjoyable throughout. There is a story around it as well.
unlabelledView post →for a game with a logo made out of two-bit bendy-straw phallic imagery in 198X it raises an incredible amount of questions
unlabelledView post →Oh. Rime! I did start that game a loooong time ago and really enjoyed what I played of it, but I never beat it. Will check out 198x.
unlabelledView post →Bought the game “198X” from the Switch E-shop. It’s essentially five mini-games inspired by 80s arcade games. They are quite good. But those mini-games take place between the most irritating, self-important, up-its-own-ass, nice-looking cinematic cutscenes I have ever seen in any media.

Not that 198X isn't a full game, but you know what I mean. evil-mastermind.itch.io/198x

unlabelledView post →The game is called Firelock 198X and seems like the creators are pretty cool. Intentionally designed to be playable in any format ranging from for free on TableTop sim, to fully modeled miniatures, or to "a whiteboard and cardboard rectangles"

unlabelledView post →Played through 198X & really enjoyed it. It was fun, nostalgic & the pixel art was stunning. It was nice to start and finish a game in the same stream. 😅 Maybe Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok next. It's a game made in the style of the 90s Quest for Glory games.
unlabelledView post →27. 198X 198X is a really interesting game in that it's more like a collection of minigames that parody various classic arcade genres like beat-em-ups and space shooters while connected together in an overarching story of a young man's life. I really loved it, but I do wish it was longer.

unlabelledView post →Started playing Pokemon Emerald Imperium, and while I'm still fairly early on, I feel like starting the player out with ten of every item kinda cheapens any early game struggle :/ I might eat those words, but 198x pokeballs means there's no early game weight to what you catch.

unlabelledView post →Firelock 198X. Been enjoying the combination of weird cold war and fantasy elements, and it's rather a nice tabletop game to pick up
unlabelledView post →Yeah. Sure, I was wrong. Though when I looked up 198X or some other indie game, it talked about an Xbox release, but when I clicked on it, it said it was planned way back in like 2012 or something and never happened. Do you really believe they'll magically port in over a decade later?
unlabelledView post →Ran the first real session of Howling Metal, my game about a metal band that has to rock so hard that they can rescue 198X Cleveland from Hell. The players panicked at one point at how brutal it was, and I felt like that was a success. Also my spouse wanted to murder a demon NPC. Again, success :)
