No remaster, just added 5 dogwater cutscenes complete with Sega's sold to the lowest bidder localization, probably AI at this point. Oh, and of course this version doesn't have steam cards lmao. The original was 20 dollars and regularly went on sale, they then add 5 cutscenes no one asked for to give clarity to some character's intentions and expand on their backstory. A no effort multiplayer mode and slapped a 50 dollar price tag…

So, what do we get? >♥♥♥♥♥♥ and buggy localizations that are very likely made with AI. >Dub that nobody cares…

All the items and wallpapers!!!!! It is not right and fair for many gamers to delist these games and their Points Shop! At least bring the same Points Shop back! Do something in this direction!!!! Show that you care! Show that we aren't nothing to you, because we are many! Please, with respect and dignity!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is with a broken heart that I have to say that no, this new edition of Yakuza 0 is not worth the asking price, especially in Singapore, where the price tag makes it a borderline crime. On one hand, I would love to recommend this, because it's Yakuza ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 0 and despite the unwelcome changes to the plot is still Yakuza 0 and therefore good. On the other, I feel a sense of duty to not do so because RGG and Sega are taking the PISS now. The only reason for this game to exist is to mark up…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This whole thing could've been DLC. Instead they invalidate your old saves and hike up the price of the full game for extra 20 minutes of pointless cutscenes. I love this game, I love this series, but this is a really scummy move.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DONUT BUY THIS!!!! First new added cutscene genuinely ruins part of the ending for no reason. over double the price to make the story worse. new multiplayer mode is already completely dead at launch too. so all the new content is pointless and QOL fixes probably could already be modded into the original Find a used PS4 disc, buy the GOG version, find a steam cd key that still works, have a friend who owns the OG set up family share or whatever else works for you instead. You probably only…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Are you guys letting Creative Assembly run RGG now? There's no reason for this version to exist. It's the exact same thing as the OG except it has a handful of new cutscenes that add nothing of value, remove any semblance of high stakes as for a while every bullet, every explosion has been either blanks or just roman candles. An additional game mode is present which is already dead with no players online, everyone and their grandma saw that coming, and let's not forget the OG is being delisted…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, awful rerelease. The newly added cutscenes do nothing for the story. In fact I'd say some of them harm it. Play the original if possible, but if not then this is fine. Also delisting the original is scummy af
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yakuza 0 Director's Cut Don't buy this if you can still play the OG or unless it goes on sale for like 5 bucks or so. It's just a re-upload of the OG game, listed for 10x the price. There's barely anything new aside from a low-effort, dead multiplayer and some *new* cutscenes that really don't add much to the experience. The only reason I bought this was because I had the upgrade option and because I wanted to get the achievements, but even so, I regret it and I won't be buying any more of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yakuza 0 was perfect. Delisting the original and making this was not necessary at all. The only reason I bought this is cus I had to buy yakuza series bundle, cus now that they delisted Yakuza 3, buying it is only available through the bundle.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a pathetic excuse for a 20th anniversary TLDR: Don't buy this game, it is an unnecessary re-release that not only balloons the game size nearly 4x, but also includes a multiplayer mode that isn't really that important as well as three new cutscenes, one of which is a really unnecessary and pointless retcon. It is incredibly saddening to see them delist the original, especially when you could get that for a 10th of the price of this release. If you are a new player, I suggest getting a key…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Yakuza franchise is easily one of my favorite in gaming. However, this is nothing but corporate greed at its finest. A lazy cashgrab with virtually no new content or reason to buy it. I tried out the multiplayer mode and it is genuinely the worst thing they've done since Yakuza Dead Souls. The new Raid Mode is hilariously bad, uninspired and boring. It feels like a rushed add-on, and it is because beyond that there's nothing else besides 10 minutes of new cutscenes, the ability to save…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please, can we get a competent voice actor for Kiryu? Yongyea has to be the laziest "Voice actor" I have ever heard. Did he record these half asleep?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not going to comment on the delistings, the price for value over the original, or the underlying game itself (it's a classic), there are plenty of reviews on that. I'll be addressing the problems with this release as its own $50 product in 2025 and especially as a remaster. This is not an updated version and it's actually worse on a technical level than the original. 1. Graphical issues like an extremely ugly DOF (it is objectively awful, like someone smeared Vaseline over the image)…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →20 years in the joint made RGG a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ The price increase is insane for something that is really just a minor upgrade, underwhelming multiplayer and includes unnecessary scenes that were removed from the game for a reason (we got rubber bullets in Yakuza 4, now we got rubber car bombs?? ). As a massive fan who has 100%'ed some of these games on Playstation I was actually excited a great deal for this game and thought it would be a huge upgrade from it's 2015 counterpart. But in…

unlabelledView post →There’s a fundamental problem here: the game itself is good but so was the original. Releasing a needless updated port makes no sense. This easily could have been handled as DLC, which would have been perfectly fine, but instead they chose to de-list the original game just to charge more money for it. If you already own Y0, sure, it’s like $20 but almost everyone currently into Yakuza has either played it or owned it at some point. Making it impossible for new players to access the original…

Yakuza 0 was my introduction to the LAD series and is still one of my favorite games of all time. To voice Kiryu in this game years after playing it as a fan is surreal beyond words.

Now, 10 years later, 4 characters that died, are alive? Seriously? No respect for what him and Nagoshi built together. Yokoyama could just make new Yakuza games, and build on the series. But no, he has to change it, and call it his own. I'm surprised Nagoshi was even in the credits. It's a bada$s game for anyone new to the franchise. It's a slap in the face to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A friend of mine bought me the original Y0 the Christmas the game came out. I played it for like 4 hours and dropped it. I ended up picking up the upgrade for Y0 on sale recently and ended up playing through the whole story this time around. At the time of this review i have also beaten YK1,YK2,Y3, and am currently playing through Y4. HOWEVER, SEGAs' delisting of the original versions of Y0,YK1,YK2 and Y3 is reprehensible and should not be rewarded. This game is fantastic, don't buy it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yakuza 0 is one of my favorite games, but this edition is laughable. Positives: -Auto saves and the ability to save anywhere -Like 5 new cutscenes and only 2 of them are cool Negatives: -More death retcons -I get stutters when the legacy version was flawless -There's no reason to buy it if you have the original. I implore that SEGA includes the legacy versions of Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami 1 and Yakuza Kiwami 2 when you purchase the the new versions. Delisting makes no sense when you can just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried the Directors cut for all of 20 minutes. I was looking forward to playing 0 for the first time with some modern improvements. Unfortunatley this version is just worse then the original. In that time: some subtitles were off center, causing sentences to appear off screen making them un readable. The visual up scaling caused weird harsh black outlines on the characters when in a cutscene. The Audio in cutscenes was slightly delayed. The original still plays great and looks great. Stick…

Delisting the VERY game that made the studio popular everywhere around the world just to re-release a crappy version of the 10th Anniversary game (yakuza 0) with so many issues within it. Now for the people that want to get into the yakuza series, I do recommend this game very much as its very story-rich and really good gameplay. It's just that RGG has made some really disappointing market…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Directors cut" and it's a complete different "director" from the original game 💔 New scenes ruin the plot of the game 💔 Delisting original game which is the franchise starting point AND was 20$ AND went on sale for 10.99 therefore making the entire series less accessible 💔 Increase game size by like 70 gigs 💔 And while I don't play ANY Japanese game in any language besides Japanese, last but not least, "Yong Yea" 💔
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →De-listing for a higher price + more gigabytes? Yeah not for me. If anyone really wants to play this, try to find the original game key, way more worth than whatever this is.

unlabelledView post →I hate to say this, but even though Yakuza 0 is still a good game, this Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut just isn’t worth what they’re charging. It’s frustrating because all we’re really getting is the same Yakuza 0 with a DLC slapped on, a higher price tag, a few quality-of-life tweaks, and an even bigger demand on hard-drive space. And if RGG is really going to ask fifty bucks plus tax for this, then honestly, the least they could do is turn it into a real Kiwami Zero and give it the upgrades that…

Whoever that guy is should've been playing the guy getting beat up in the intro or better yet not voice acting at all. Many other characters are voiced by people who sound like they shouldn't be voice acting either. Distracting. Stick with the Japanese voices. Great game, the English dub is my only complaint.

And as a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a completely honest review of this game compared to the original Yakuza 0: As someone who has been playing since Y5 on the PS3. This is not a bad game, since it is basically just Yakuza 0 with some extras that don’t really hold up very well. The new story elements and cutscenes aren’t terrible, but they’re not good either. They feel like pointless additions that were added just so they could call the game “different.” It is very scummy that SEGA had RGG take down the original Yakuza 0.…

The main issue is that "Director's cut" is just yakuza 0 if they spent a month ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around and adding an unfun, story-less mode to kill time. Don't buy the upgrade, and if you must play it, just acknowledge that this isn't even close to the value of the original at the time. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to be able to recommend this, but the dub is pretty horrible - and a lot of lines just ain't dubbed. If you can get the original for cheap, i'd just recommend that over - don't buy the upgrade. On a plus side, Matt Mercer (Majima's ENG VA) is amazing like always :) Kaiji Tang (Nishiki's ENG VA) was pretty decent But Yong Yea (Kiryu's ENG VA) was just not it this time around, line delivery sounds forced and I just can't take it seriously.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →15$ upgrade is... Fine. Not good but fine 50$ is too much. You get: + Bonus cutscenes that don't matter + Online mode that will be dead instantly on launch + Extra localizations + Technically an English VA [Nobody should use regardless] + Only QOL I've found is that you can now save anywhere vs only at phonebooths which is... Nice but not needed for the most part and you can very easily edit your settings in the original PC release to let you do that anyways You don't get: - HD textures - HD…

Retconning character deaths, adding cutscenes that take away from the stakes of the events of the game, and removing any sort of anything fruitful for the sake of “closure”. Yakuza 0 is, in and of itself, an absolutely brilliant game. This specific port is borderline unplayble for me thanks to the near constant stuttering.
