60 of 283 · most liked firstI want to preface this review by saying this isn't a bad game. I don't recommend it, it has many issues, but it's perfectly acceptable. But I'm disappointed enough with it and feel the issues I have with it are numerous enough that the only honest review I can give it is a negative one. I'm a lapsed wrestling fan and I have very fond memories of playing various wrestling games, and I quite enjoy turn based RPGs. So when this game was announced I immediately wishlisted it. The idea of an indie…

I admired the pixels, flexed through the grind… and somehow still felt like I lost the belt. 🤼♂️✨🎮 Follow my curator page for more pixelated chaos, genre mashups, and games that drop the elbow and the emotional arc! 💾🎭💥 https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42602807-Osiris-Reviews/
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me start by saying I enjoy this game. It's a good time and the wrestling toys nature of the game is fun. That said, I've encountered game breaking bugs twice now. I cannot compel myself to start a third playthrough, knowing that all the little bugs here and there might trigger a bigger bug or you might get pushed through a fence by an enemy, ruining that session. The last major bug I encountered was the game deleting my save instead of saving my progress and getting stuck like that, so I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello Friends, Today I will review the game Wrestlequest. This is a indie game that goes into the history of WWE wrestling. The storyline follows a wrestler(s) that want to achieve the ultimate goal. They wish to become the best wrestlers in the world. Every wrestler dreams of this, but it takes a special breed of wrestlers to become the top of the top. Being in the footsteps of past heroes, like Randy "Macho Man" Savage, these wrestlers have big shoes to fill. Hopefully, these wrestlers will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I ran into a bug on Muchacho man, I cannot remove his sailor arm weapon and if I try it gives -63 weapon rating and stays equipped. I haven't found or heard of a workaround and this ruined my playthrough... alot of hours wasted UPDATE: Megacat studios contacted me and fixed this issue, that's amazing I am now finishing and enjoying the game. Besides the bug I have really enjoyed this throwback rpg 8/10 in my book
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game! If you're in the middle of that Venn Diagram of 80s pro wrestling fan and fan of SNES-style JRPGs, then this will be money well spent
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Appears to be abandoned at this point with several long standing bugs still in place :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel some people are too critical of this game. I played it start to finish and loved it. This game is definitely one for fans of both pro wrestling and RPG games. I didn't expect this game to be in a world of living toys, either, but I wasn't disappointed by that. I'll try to sum up my thoughts without spoiling too much. PROS: -Fun, quirky characters, many of which are alt versions or expies of famous wrestlers. Plus, toy versions of ACTUAL wrestlers show up as NPCs, stable managers, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All the fun parts light the wresting chalenges are few and far between. Once you get to know a character they switch you to someone you do not care about and play for 1-2 hours. horibble game play. backtracking is insane and you have no idea what to do at times. oh and THERE IS NO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MAP. which would be insanely helpful in 90% of the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: + A wrestling RPG is something I never thought I wanted. It's such a good idea. + Graphics. Game looks awesome. + Combat is accessible. Cons: - The thing I was most disappointed about was the story. As it's a wrestling RPG that at first seems to be an homage to (mainly) 80's wrestling I expected a lot of focus on the story. The story is just not interesting at all. It's bland, it's cookie cutter and worst of all it doesn't really feel like a wrestling world after a few hours. - Combat…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WOW Waaaaaaaaaay bigger than I expected. Very traditional RPG with a wrestling theme that takes place with Action Figures and toys. So much fun. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There should really be a maybe option but I decided to lean no since I doubt I will continue playing the game. It's a neat concept but you don't get to create a wrestler, which means you're stuck with two knock off characters that aren't particularly interesting since they have the personalities of existing wrestlers who are themselves IN THE GAME (??????). Baffling design decision for a game about a box of misfit toys that sunk any further interest in it for me. Informational: There are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is brutally slow. It holds your hand as tho you've never played a game before. The 1st few hours are mostly bad dialogue. The game glitched on me and I couldn't progress the story just under the deadline for a refund. If a sequel were to come out hopefully they iron out the issues because there is a lot here to like.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I for one, would have expected better from the fine folks behind Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit and WrestleQuest.
unlabelledView post →Game is listed as "playable" on Steam Deck, with only small text being an issue. I played on Steam Deck for over three hours with no problems. Then I hit a game-breaking bug which soft locks the campaign. Come to find that this has been reported on forums by multiple players for over nine months now and still present. BUYER BEWARE: this listed-as-playable title may be completely broken on Steam Deck, may waste 3.6 hours of your life before revealing such. Developers aware of the issue for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the entire game up until the ending. It was easily one of the most unsatisfying endings to a game that I've played since KH3. Still a great game, but i was not happy about that ending.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mario Super Star Saga meets Toy Story meets WWE. Could have better voice acting, or better lines for the voice actors but the concept is great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Will be checking this out this weekend! It was awesome getting to see some of the @megacatstudios.bsky.social crew at #AGDQ26 — and I myself am no stranger to their games! We had fun highlighting WrestleQuest and Bite the Bullet in previous indie game showcases, excited to peep this new MCS title!

Being forced to use a controller (Which some of us can't use) or using a dual hand approach with the keyboard is beyond bonkers. I bought the game when it came out but didn't play it till now. I wish I would have then so I could have refunded this so fast the dev's heads would have spun. Disabled gamers, stay away from this. A simple mouse confirmation for actions or ability to click options would have…

WELL, play as Muchacho Man and Brink Logan in a action-figure-style turn-based RPG as they aim for the top. Review + Media: www.rpgfan.com/game/wrestle...
unlabelledView post →I really, really, really wanted to like this game but I just couldn't. There are a few reasons. You have to hit a button up to 7 times for one attack, that is just... just too much, even for a turn based RPG. The pin mechanic is timing based and I didn't really care for it at all, I certainly don't want to have to do that every fight. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ With all that said, this game really hit me as a passion project. The pixel art is ON POINT! The voice acting is great "OOOOHHH YEEEAAAHHH!" and it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately I can't recommend this game outside of maybe for under $10, or, if you're a huge wrestling fan. It becomes frustratingly repetitive and mundane, especially at points with puzzles you can't even save in to take a break. The lack of enemy levels saw me either 1 shotting things, or, getting smashed with no indication if I stood a chance. Useless manual running around also was frustrating. While there's some cool visual elements and entertaining dialog, it became a chore and I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was very much having a fun time with this game, as were my viewers. Its a hilarious story about toys that look up to real world wrestlers and in turn, want to be wrestlers. They have their own league and everything, it's great. So, so far everything was going good and then I hit a GAME BREAKING BUG!!! That's right, this game has been out for how long and I hit a game breaking bug. Shortly after completing the Junkyard mission and meeting Slimy the alligator. The game cuts to the second main…

unlabelledView post →I do not recommend this game. Speaking as a fan of professional wrestling and this game, you should not buy this game. It's a great game in concept and I'm sure the Devs put an effort forward, however, it's obviously not baked all the way at about the 10hr mark. Bugs become more rampant and its stale as cardboard flavoring becomes overwhelming. Any effort and passion the developers put into this game at the start has faded into what resembles PSA statements about QOL improvements while jimmy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On one hand, there are numerous deep and clever references that a wrestle-fan would appreciate. A story with characters that is crafted with care that clearly comes from a place of love for the sport. Combat that makes sense in terms of what a Wrestling role-playing game would actually look like. So, a traditional turn based pro wrestling themed RPG that understands the source material AND has Macho Man as a benevolent deity sounds like what I would have used my third genie wish to make.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed playing the game! I haven't finished the storyline yet but I will definitely continue playing because i'm interested in how the story pans out in the end. Things I liked: 1. The cute 2D art style: I also liked the animations around the environment and I would sometimes stop and watch them play out. 2. The unique timing based mechanic: This is the first time I have encountered it in a turn based game and I liked how it makes the player engaged. 3. The variety of characters: The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a pro wrestling fan and I'm enjoying this game! So many references throughout that shows attention to detail and the story mode has moments of humor and depth for your characters. The rpg mechanics are fun with the buffs and debuffs that happen. And calling on legends to help you out is so cool. The various environments have their own thing going on. Only complaint is some of the minigames (the jump one, etc) are difficult to manuever for me. Thankfully, you can skip them to get back to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WrestleQuest is an ambitious and eccentric blend of classic role-playing adventure and professional wrestling spectacle, a concept that sounds absurd on paper but comes together with surprising charm. Developed by Mega Cat Studios and published by Skybound Games, it throws players into a colorful, toy-like world where wrestlers are larger-than-life heroes and legends of the ring are worshipped as gods. The story follows “Muchacho Man” Randy Santos, a spirited newcomer whose dream is to become a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - Old-school wrestling nostalgia is amazing. Great theme if you are or were a wrestling fan back in the day - Story is over the top - which is perfect for old school wrestling. - Action figure jokes are great - Soundtrack is incredible. - Variety of combat moves is good - The biomes are actually amazing when the devs lean into the format (Why is there a castle map? Who cares?! It works and is amazing.) Cons: - Combat. There's no indicators or numbers to calculate damage. Fights feel like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I appreciate this game for being a final fantasy/earthbound type rpg with wrestling characters but ultimately it just fell flat in many areas. The combat is very simple and easy to abuse for the most part, the pacing of the story is pretty bad, there are WAY too many apparent bugs for a game like this and at times I was left wondering if certain things were even tested because of how noticeable some things were. Again I like what this game was trying to do but overall I don't feel like I can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super Disappointed in this game. Luckily I got it while on sale. No WAY this is worth full price. I wanted this game for a while. Based on the graphics and the style. Once I played it, this wasnt what I thought. The combat system is fun. My problem is TOO MUCH reading! The dialog is WAY too much. You will spend more time reading than playing the game. It also feels like they hand feed you what to do next. There is no real challenge. They could have added people to fight while traveling…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has been on my wish list for some time now, I've played the demo too! And from the demo to the state of the game now, I think there's a lot of improvements. 1. This game can be a little faster now (pressing F on fight sequences and option to do max damage) 2. Shift running set to toggle than hold is awesome 3. Some of the controls aspect feels like it was reworked Feels good to play overall! Would love to continue playing come the weekends.

unlabelledView post →Look, seeing over 140 hours on a pixel indie game might make you question my sanity, but let me tell you—WrestleQuest is genuinely something special. It’s an absolute love letter to both the golden era of pro wrestling and the classic 16-bit RPGs we grew up with. Mixing turn-based JRPG mechanics with pro wrestling sounds like a fever dream on paper, but it actually works perfectly. The combat isn't just about spamming your strongest attack; the "Hype" meter dictates the flow of the match. You…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →30 hours into a game that drags on too long specifically the kaiju chapter you can get yourself into an unwinnable situation with a forced locked party which requires you to use max damage/ immunity options as if they just decided to stop balancing the game. otherwise this game was okay, but why the spice himself sucks so much compared to brink logan is a mystery to me, and it would have been nice to have been balanced until the finish and I'd give it a thumbs up. I find it pretty crazy how…

unlabelledView post →This game's theme does most of the work. It has a good art style, decent sound design, and an interesting premise. Those three things cover for the lackluster gameplay, story elements, and plodding controls. If you grew up in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, and enjoyed the campiness of wrestling around those times then you'll probably find enjoyment here. If you're anything other than that then the game might not be worth your time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Right at the first dialogue, the game glitches and I can not go further. When I asked my friend, I found out that they also got stuck at the same point.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently has game breaking bugs like getting locked/blocked out of things on the over world map. Support is on discussion board trying to collect data on it, so the devs have admitted it is an issue. I'll add more detail here Reese: I eventually got to the second time you control the character in the Snow area. After the third party member joins you (lady) and you leave the house/mansion, once you go down the snow steps on the over map, you can not go up any other surface. IE. you are…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have a new review out for WrestleQuest today! It's a turn-based RPG mixed with the bombastic world of pro wrestling! The results are a bit mixed, however. It's extremely charming, but bugs and the story's pacing prevent the game from being a masterpiece. gamecritics.com/gc-staff/wre...
unlabelledView post →This game had potential to be a really great JRPG. Unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros too much. Two big flaws are the lack of fast travel and not being able to skip fight animations. It gets really repetitive and it doesn't take long for you to wish you were doing something else. The last thing that could improve the game is some editing. It goes on and on with five different stories going on at the same time and you just don't care about the story eventually. And for game mechanics, they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel let down. I mean, the games functions well. Its just...underwhelming. The battle system is just boring, as are the characters up to the 5 hour mark. My time is too valuable, & my queue is too vast to slog through this. Glad i bought it deeply discounted. Try again boys..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WrestleQuest appreciation post. Before playing this game, I had no idea I needed a wrestling-themed JRPG in my life, yet here I am praying nightly to the Macho Man before getting into bed. The theme somehow worked perfectly and all the different gameplay elements are surprisingly deep.
unlabelledView post →Very fun and funny game. If you're a fan of 80's & early 90's wrestling, you'll love this game. If you like early FF games, or games like those, but want a different setting, this is the game. Do I recommend, OH SI!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am going to keep this non-recommendation simple: Down doesn't work on the controller. Now let me be a little clearer: down does work in the main menu. Down does work during the in game menus. But down does not work when trying to move my character on screen...forcing me to either use a keyboard or map out keyboard controls to a controller manually. And i shouldn't have to do that. Also when trying to set down in the controller options...that doesn't work either. So since when I am moving…

unlabelledView post →I honestly think this game might be my new favourite RPG. I played it at the end of a 24 hour stream for the last 7 hours and it was a joy throughout. Great Combat. Great Humour. Tons of amazing references to wrestling's history. To me it is a modern day Paper Mario and even though a lot of my community aren't wrestling fans they loved the humour and vibes of the game and several are now looking to buy it themselves.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too much dialogue and the game play depends on QTE, which is not my thing. There is an option to auto-win QTEs (which I greatly appreciate!) but in turning that option on I realized the combat became too easy and boring. Not a terrible game but could have used some more polishing before release (especially given how many people in the reviews are complaining about bugs).

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly this game is just tedious to play and way too easy. Even in my short time it already became repetitive. The tutorial is atrocious, the story is super lame and very "go there do that"-scenario-of-the-episode-like. And the worst thing: You are constantly forced to switch between parties / characters and their "story" (and I use that term lightly). Just why?! I have no clue who thought that would add anything. It just makes me not want to continue to play after I got swapped AGAIN. Why…

Sadly there are just soooo many small things and some bigger things making this game almost impossible to be enjoyed :( Small things would be stuff like cluncy controlls which sometimes are super annoying but aren't game breaking also the story telling is very weak, fighting looks kinda funny at first but after 2-3 rounds its…
