60 of 179 · most liked firstIt's a basic Skyrim-like in a magical western setting that's fairly generic but for the price especially on sale it's easy to recommend to genre fans that enjoy exploring open world settings while doing quest and killing baddies leveling up, getting new gear and spells and leveling that up as well. The game's greatest strength is its very approachable and easy to pick up and play at your own pace. So give it a spin if that sounds like your kind of bag.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know whether to love or hate this game. The graphics are rudimentary. The sound track maddening. The weapons and spells (at least for the class I picked), poorly balanced. The combat trivial and clunky. The interface too limiting for the spell/ability range on offer (perhaps by design). Worst of all, the open world, WAY TOO OPEN. You spend far too much time running, running, running. And yet, I keep playing it and I can't quite put my finger on the reason. Is it because of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To put it best, the game is very...empty. Most exploration just leads to bandit camps, any cave you find has underwhelming treasure, the loot from most bosses is usually weaker than what you used to kill them with. The story has some promise, but almost every story quest amounts to either "go here to kill this" or "go here to talk to this guy". Side quests aren't much better, most of which are simple fetch quests. The soundtrack is well done and atmospheric, but hearing the same few short songs…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →sadly abandoned, pass on this potentially great game, last "major" update was mid 2020
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. I was having a great time playing it, and I'd gotten to the first boss. I had good enough gear that each of his hits did 1 damage. So, to my surprise, I'm beating him solidly, have 1/3 my health bar, and suddenly I'm dead. Tried the boss again, same thing. No special attacks, no visual cues of something to dodge, just dead. Also in this cave is some of the worst platforming I've ever seen on some strange bridge. Cleared a level 5 cave before this level 2 one,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game demonstrates the flaw in basing your game purchasing decisions on the 'All Reviews' category. It is very positive on Steam at the moment, but when you go and read the reviews people have written, it's a flood of 'only buy on sale' 'definitely worth it at $5 (not full price)' and 'jeez nothing about this game is good but I am addicted'. The truth is, it sucks. I bought it because it should be right up my alley - I don't like this 'lo-fi' aesthetic everyone is doing, but I love open…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A mmorpg game inside a single player game. I have just finished the quest. 5/10. The game is quite mild. It is not suited for hardcore player. I almost fall asleep in every place i go. The AI isn't interesting also. The number of different type of enemy can be counter using 2 hands. The game pace is always take quest -> find the place -> killing -> find quest item in the area -> fight boss -> return quest. I do find it annoying to always go find key at a lot of different places and it bored…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly underwhelming. Avoid even if free. This game brings a whole new meaning to "bullet sponge" enemies - the bosses are an atrocity, taking anywhere from 40-240 shots to bring down. Even basic foes require a maddening amount of bullets to down, chewing through your ammo. This is only made worse by the fact that the gunplay itself lacks any amount of enthusiasm in its design. Weapons don't have any feeling or weight behind them whatsoever. A rubberband-gun has more kick then anything in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Original setting and some nice quest design here and there, but gets bogged down by extremely limited gameplay: - No melee combat; - Ranged combat is limited to four (?) weapon types; - No stealth/lockpicking/traps disarmin/diplomacy/non-combat magic whatsoever; - Very limited character development - your attributes are only increased through equipment. Bascially, it works as decently competent action-adventure, but fails as RPG. I guess, it's natural that when you're a small indie studio…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would've been an interesting premise, but maps are incomplete and quests do not always work, from the looks of it this game was abandoned by the devs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is great until a certain point. I got it sale, and it is not worth the full price. 1. It is quite creative and there is lots of lore. 2. Three playable classes. 3. You have to level past certain bosses and monsters in order to get past that point in the quest. 4. There is a level cap for the player, which is a shame, as there are allot of quests past the level. This means there is no real point in finishing or doing additional side quests. Most games like this cap the monsters and not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Barely an Alpha build and seems to have been abandoned. Don't bother.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game could have been great but the devs stopped updating leaving the game feeling half done and abandoned
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wild West and Wizards is bad. It is very bad. It is also extremely cheap but that doesn't stop it from being bad. It's a bold attempt to make a Borderlands/The Elder Scrolls sort of hybrid for only $15 (or $21.50 for Australians because exchange rates exist only to screw us over) but I'll tell you upfront that you might as well wait for those games to inevitably go on sale again. It's weird because I don't feel like the game had to be this bad. The game runs decently and there's a... "decent"…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfinished and empty. I am playing this game all the way through mostly because I feel bad that I have wasted money on it. Almost all of the positive reveiws talk about how the game has potential but this has not been updated since 2021. There are some interesting mechanics but its biggest downfall is how grindy it feels. It feels boring to walk through the map, the enemies are either spongy or basically paper, and hit either like mosquitoes or a semi-truck. This games is just inconsistent and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah, it's a really cool concept, it's an indie doing an over-ambitious but nevertheless admirable effort. But a bad game is a bad game and this is obviously not going to see improvements made to it any time soon. A needlessly large open world that gives near to no incentive to explore beyond the possiblity of getting a chest with the most boring and by-the-numbers loot. A combination of Old West First Person Shooting and (extremely basic) RPG spellcasting that SOMEHOW still results in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is incomplete and seems to be abandoned without any major updates for years.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game for $1.49 so i win in the review section's best price comparison. I bought it because of the price, normally at $15 i would have looked at the video and may have been intrigued but not buy. It's a looter shooter RPG western game with magical elements and an open world. Looks cheap is cheap. Just buy it on sale like now especially with 90% off.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple but entertaining first person shooter. Not much to the game, and truthfully a bit shallow, but was fun enough to complete. Well put together, and did what it set out to do I suppose. I recommend playing Gunslinger, as 1 minute into the game, they get the Dash ability to make trudging through the huge map less of a hassle. Other classes will need to luck out on finding it. Found an infinite ammo exploit when I hit max level which made the game go from easy to extremely easy, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →got this for $3.74, which is an absolute steal for this game, $15? I dont think so, Buy this for sure, i would just wait for a sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only played through this game for roughly 32 minutes but due to one mechanic I immediately quit the game. Why would there be a level cap so early on into an RPG? A major aspect of RPGs is that if you cannot advance past a certain point or defeat a certain monster you can raise your level by defeating lower level monsters or other activities. You can also level to the point where you're over prepared which will make the oncoming levels and challenges you face easier. Something that I've…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has potential but left ignored by the devs
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be quite honest, this game is only fun in concept. The game-play itself is dreadfully boring. You only really walk places and can only fast travel to specific locations. The graphics are pretty mid, the gunplay isn't very satisfying. The lore and world building is kind of interesting, but that really isn't enough. There is hardly any variety in enemy types. Small Scorpion, slightly bigger scorpion, and giant scorpion. Bandit, wizard bandit, and then small elemental and giant elemental.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: I recommend this game only if you really enjoy open world, exploring and questing/dungeons and get it on sale. It's a good game that does a good job mixing FPS, RPG and magic. However, it's rough around the edges and overall lacks polishing and presents some issues from Salt and other open game RPGs like Elder Scrolls Oblivion/Skyrim. If you played Salt and enjoyed it, give this one a shot too. You're likely seeing this game because you played Salt or a Fallout game, or Skyrim, or other…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This concept has so much potential, and this game was so close to being really, really good for an indie game. The graphics just dont do the visuals justice, towns are clearly the same assets re-used in a different layout, etc. If the map was smaller and more focus was put on making EVERYTHING look really good that might've turned out better. The same goes for GFX of spells - mechanically and thematically it seems cool, but there wasn't enough time spent making magic look cool Progression is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are so many things I don't like about this game that I don't even feel like writing them all down. Its boring and poorly made. There are a handful of character customization options, and almost no variation in the npc's and enemies. It feels unfinished and definitely isn't worth $15 unless you have played every other RPG in existence. I bought it on sale and still feel like I wasted my money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lacks enemy variety. 90% of locations are bandit camps. Animations are terrible especially on the scorpions. Combat has no feedback to it. You only know if an enemy is being hit from damage numbers or know if your hit if you glace at your health bar and its low. Enemies are terrible bullet sponges with boss type enemies being especially bad. Some overpowered spells like fear help, but encounters are far to long. Enemies can randomly resist spells and spells like fear's duration can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, but pretty raw and unfinished. Also abandoned. I wouldn't pay more than 5 USD for it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even though I have played very little, this is easily one of the best hidden gems I've found on steam. Open world is fun, combat is all good too. I just wish the developer would keep updating this game as I know it could be even better then it already is.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Large empty lands where you cannot run. No save. You reappear... somewhere. The closest grave... And then it is long to go back where you died. Poor sounds that does not help to pace the gunfights. You cannot stop a reload to shoot the bullets already in your barrel. Empty your gun, reload, redo while turning around a rock and heal since you are a bullet sponge... You cannot crouch. It is not that bad, It is just too basic Universe looks good.. Musics are good. Visuals looks like on the store…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very unique and fun game. I spent over 50 hours in it and i finished it completely. Def worth the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game truly is a great game that is well worth its full purchase price despite the little popularity this game has. I want to shed more light onto this game. This game has a similar gameplay and world design to the original Borderlands, a quest structure comparable to Runescape with simple puzzles and riddles (though this game is easier), and it includes instrumental music, graphics, and atmosphere that is extremely similar to Firewatch. All of this is wrapped up into a Wild West and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🤠 Can't call this game mindblowing, but this concept works and for an indie from a couple of devs, it's really big & great. This is a "I WANT LOOT ALL" type of game, with many points on a huge map, simple RPG quests, LVL progression, equip & skills upgrading. With not so many resources at disposal, a rather lively world was created with sometimes really beautiful locations. There are a lot of simple puzzles & secrets, constant firefights with magic tricks, the four types of classic weapons and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game for $1.50, but it definitely isn't worth $15. I think five would be fine, and then 3 dollars for the soundtrack. Not that you'd want it for anything other than a donation. I have generally been pretty surprised by some of the depth in this game. It can be pretty fun to explore. That said, it can be pretty unbalanced, enemies hardly miss and the level scaling is kinda bs. It doesn't seem finished, and you'll know that before you even finish your character customization. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't regret getting it on sale. It's a pretty fun game overall, but in desperate need of polishing. It has relaxing soundtracks that don't loop well but it's not much of a problem. The world is set lightly and nicely, you don't dread going from place to place. The whole concept is cool. The quests are interesting, very much so actually, but most of them don't match the early player level. That aside, when you open the map, it's hard to track where you stand and where you're going because of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was expecting for Salt with guns but it feels more like a low budget skyrim. The worst I can say is that it's boring and unreplayable. Very lacking in loot variation since most of it are randomly generated and leveled. I am crossing my finger that Salt 2 won't make me suffer like this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A shoe-string budget, extremely lofi looking open world game with quests and loot. Surprisingly enjoyable, for what it is.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Died at half health... Not exactly an expert opinion but I'm pretty sure that's not how health works in most games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not one to complain about open-world games being too free form or open... but this game is empty. I can't see a reason why it's so big; getting to any significant action from a town takes longer than what you'll find at your destination. Just not interesting enough to justify its size, and its mechanics are too barebones to make up for that - gameplay is serviceable, but way below a lot of other $15 shooters.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's hard not to recommend this game for the sale price tag. It's janky as heck, but there's a charm there. Gameplaywise it reminds me of the feeling of exploring around in Skyrim, finding neat dungeons, clearing them out, looting the remains. Lavaboots have taken that feeling and made the most barebones game possible that still supports it. Is it janky? Hella. Is the combat simplistic? Yep. Is it buggy? I clipped through walls enough times it almost felt like an intended strat for certain…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best thing I can say about Wild West and Wizards is that it’s very… fine? I picked it up on a whim because it looked cool and I like trying all kinds of weird little games, and that’s definitely how I’d describe this – a weird little game. The developer Lavaboots Studios describes it as an open world RPG, but I’d also throw the word “sandbox” in there somewhere. You’re pretty much given a gun and some abilities and told to go do what you want. There are quests to do, areas in the world to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's Wild West meets Magic...pistols vs magic...great game so far! I did encounter a bug in the game which prevented a quest from being completed. I sent a feedback in regards to my issue and within 24 hours, I had a response from the developers which allowed me to continue the quest. I look forward to more updates...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun combat cute storylines impressive environments 29 hours to complete main storyline, most side quests, and visit every location on the map
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game. Simple but still creates nice stories and adventures. Same kind of feeling you get from adventuring skyrim, you don't know what you'll run into or what treasures you will discover. It is limited by the lack of variety of enemies/npcs but the adventuring alongside the music has engrossed me. Especially for the discounted price! It's very worth
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Color me pleasantly surprised! I bought this game on a whim, with no prior knowledge of it's existence before seeing the store page. I was drawn in by the premise more than the visuals, which are admittedly pretty bland, and what I got was a wild West adventure with tons of looting, tons of gear, tons of quests, and a huge world to explore. I am completely satisfied with this game outside of some minor things, such as... Graphically, it's bland. It works for the rustic aesthetic, but character…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →$15 dollars is a beyond reasonable pricetag for this game (I got it for $1.50 during a sale). The map is huge and the game is packed with content. The combat is alright, skill tree is basic but gets the job done I guess. The one thing that has bothered me the most so far are the graphics, the game is great but the models look bad.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is everything I've wanted from the Cowboy Wizard genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a fun action rpg that has a great western vibe to it. way more in depth than it looks. a steal during a sale!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →north is left west is down east is up south is right ... what i've seen so far feels just as offputting
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like looter shooters you'll like this. Its got a few weird design choices and jank to be expected with a small indie game, but overall its an interesting concept that mostly plays well and is surprisingly large.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a distilled version of a Bethseda RPG. Yes, it's empty, but that seems to be the point: its a vibe. Get ripped, turn off the lights, and watch a movie while playing this—it's serene
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished the game with the gunslinger class, played the other classes. Spent many an hour in the game. I can safely say that I'd recommend this game. I used mouse & keyboard the whole way. Can't speak as to the gamepad experience. The game might feel rough around the edges sometimes. There are a number of things one can nitpick on, such as when the graphics flicker on rare occasion. Others might base their entire review on something you could just nitpick on, but I am not one of them. There…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game released over a year ago, and there is still a level 20 limit. Fut to play up to that point, not after that. Nice distraction but not worth $15.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very clearly inspired by Skyrim, but it is fun. Get it on sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After reading the other reviews, I decided to grab this while it was on sale for a buck fifty, and I've paid far more for far worse games. It feels a bit unpolished, but it's still fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it on sale for $1.49 and it's well worth it. The world is vast but can feel deserted, but that's okay it's the wild west and not San Andreas. The game has a slower pace, but if you enjoy exploration and looting this game is for you. Oh and the wizard class has been OP so far, and hold shift for 1 second to start running, the game never explains that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game looks stupid as hell but it's actually a lot of fun. I'm really diggin' it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring and meh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it at a massive discount (under $2) and I still requested a refund. Played for forty minutes, and everything about it feels bad.
