Also, the cycling rules, especially when you are freewheeling down a hill, the wind in your hair and shirt fluttering on your back. My review for @theverge.com. www.theverge.com/games-review...

unlabelledView post →I'll probably finish playing through at some point, because I do enjoy racing games, and more specifically Forza Horizon style open-world ones. But I was a bit bummed to find that it doesn't feel anything like a bike. You start with a single speed that lets you accelerate like crazy, sprint up hills, and otherwise fly around. Later when you unlock gears, you get... a little bit higher top speed. Otherwise it's a punishment. Hills should matter. Gears should matter. The races should slow down…

unlabelledView post →There are some really good recent games that are chill as can be. Consider Wheel World, which might be the most relaxed racing game I've ever played. It's like Forza Horizon, but for bicycles. Raspy little bells and all.

unlabelledView post →This game makes you buy a bike I love riding around in this game's open world. The design is fun, smoking other riders is fun, the bikes are fun, bunny hopping over guardrails and down cliffs is fun. The feature of this game I enjoyed most, though, was the part where it made me miss riding bikes so much that I went on FB Marketplace and bought an old road bike for a couple hundred bucks. Now I'm fixing it up and riding all over in amazing fall weather.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really enjoying Wheel World. Impeccable vibes and great game feel. I also dig the euro-fantasy Pokémon-like universe where everything revolves around bikes. Gimme more small open-world games that offer freedom & exploration without the dreadful feeling that you have to sink 200 hours into them.

unlabelledView post →At first, Wheel World felt like a dreamy, laid-back cousin to mainstream racing games - cruising through vibrant streets, customizing my bike, and losing myself in the game’s stunning art style and lovely soft synth pop soundtrack. But then came the second world, which is round about 80% into the game. The difficulty spiked so suddenly and so harshly that it felt like hitting a brick wall. The core gameplay loop of races never felt perfectly polished, but there it really got off rails. No…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've spent half my time in Wheel World just chilling and cruising around, love the landscapes in this game💫

unlabelledView post →Game #21 of 2025 completed: Wheel World. A nice little indie open zone cycling game. A great aesthetic and some very solid cycling mechanics, but very uninspired exploration and a few design decisions hold it back from its highest potential. Full review soon!
unlabelledView post →Usually, if a game has bicycle riding, it's a throwaway type of mechanic. Wheel World is obviously built completely around riding a bike. And that makes it feel like not much out there. The physics feel a lot like actually riding a bike, and its pretty neat about an hour in!

unlabelledView post →A very fun and relaxing game with a beautiful cel-shaded art style. I really wish we had more cycling titles as enjoyable as this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyed my time with Wheel World, a breezy little racing game with good vibes. Though I think what I probably more so click with is that mini open-world vibe that games like Lil Gator Game and Little Kitty, Big City nail so well.
unlabelledView post →I had the extreme pleasure to chat with @messhof.bsky.social about their most ambitious game yet- a gorgeous, atmospheric and polished bike racing game called Wheel World. From real like biking passion to a super smooth game, this is the story of Wheel World. youtu.be/pu6GDjeaobQ?... #gamedev
unlabelledView post →This is a good, but not great game. I'd recommend it for a good mostly relaxing time, since the difficulty I found to be pretty easy. The riding feels really good. The world was fun to explore, I liked the themes of the different racing groups and the race courses themselves were varied enough to not get stale. However there are some negatives as well. The second "world" is where the game starts to lose it's charm. The roads in this world are littered with garbage scattered along the road…

unlabelledView post →Wheel World is a whimsical open-world cycle racing game from Messhof, developer of arcade gems like Nidhogg and Flywrench. A bit outside his wheelhouse (heh) but looks charming as heck.
unlabelledView post →If you’re a big fan of racing games, Wheel World is completely fine, but it’s not as exciting as we’d hoped it would be. The storyline is cute and the game’s surprising twists are charming, but unfortunately, the overall package didn’t do quite enough to fully impress.
unlabelledView post →:) It looks great and the concept is good :| Racing is fun for 1-2 hours, then gets samey. :( Bike parts are too similar to make upgrading fun :( The story is bland - the ghosts and unlocks are just checkboxes to get to the end :( Wanted to return it after 2,5 hours
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All games that aren’t Wheel World should be mad that they didn’t come up with Portal John and the Portal Potty
unlabelledView post →49. Wheel World - 5 hrs 49 min An open world biking game where you ride around, race, do sick jumps & vibe to incredible music. Gorgeous design & style. Cheeky writing & delightful characters. The racing is challenging. One of the best indie experiences I've had & one of the best soundtracks ever.

unlabelledView post →A pleasant surprise! The game description and quite odd theme pulled me in initially, but I still expected very little as I don't love cycling (it's okay), nor have I ever bought a game including cycling. HOWEVER, so far I'm having a blast, there's something quite satisfying about the racing, unlocking the new parts and finding the hidden nuggets in the game both in the racing and free roam. I find the actual racing a bit trivial, you generally get stuck in the pack for the first minute or so…

unlabelledView post →I fully recommend this game with the caveat that I did not and will not be finishing it I loved the first 2/3 of the game; satisfying runs, comfortable progression, gorgeous explorable world Then without specific plot spoilers, the last third of the game ruins most of what made the first 2/3 great. Gorgeous world turns purposely muddy and ugly. The already tough collision physics go from occasional inconvenience to race breaking frustration. The already not great performance on the Steam Deck…
