Lets get into the review! Magic Design Studios are a relatively small collective of pro's that come from a mainly Ubisoft background having works on classics like Rayman and Valiant Hearts, and that experience can be felt in this platformer. As an aspiring indie dev myself, I find it inspiring that this game was built using Unity. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So the game is great, artstyle is gorgeous and it's a must play with in co-op. No doubt, since it was made by many former Rayman devs. But they did something else that has increased the respect towards the developers several times.... THEY FIXED REGIONAL PRICING! If you are a non-US Steam customer, you must have faced a lot of inconsistencies in regional prices. What I mean by this is having different regional prices for the same US$ price tag. Sometimes you would feel the prices are very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like Unruly Heroes; I really did. I love the art style, the character sprites, the animations - basically, the whole visual side of the game looks pretty darn awesome. Sadly, everything else never measures up to the same quality. Platforming is too slow and boring, combat is repetitive, and the voice acting ranges from passable to irritating. Some creative ideas and fun gimmicks get lost in the tedium that is playing through levels that don’t feel significantly different from one…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are many things that this game does right and I feel bad not recommending it since there are not that many coop oriented games. However, it has some big problems that pushed the fun towards frustration. The art is excellent as you can see it for yourself in the videos. The story is not important, if anything some levels have a theme around them such as a wolf man village or a lava boiler. My main problem with the game is that at a certain point it becomes a demanding platformer without…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Video Preview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-7thOps_cU Written Review I'm not too far into the game, but my opinions so far are as follows: The game shares similarities with Rayman Origins/Trine/Guacamelee. Definitely a game that I would only recommend playing in co-op, whether it's 1 or 3 friends. The gameplay switches back and forth between platforming, combat and puzzle sections, which is nice for the pacing. You have 4 characters to cycle between, and can do so at any time. If you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →theres no multiplayer online co-op, only arena (which we couldn't get to work), got the game to play with my bud, too bad I can't. Single player looks fun though.....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4 hours to finish game. Lack of background music. Seems to be an unfinished product.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i got the impression it was online co-op but it's only local co-op or online arena.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay this is a must play platformer game I loved it so much and it has 4 player co-op wow, This is my take after completing this game: The graphics are 9/10 with amazing vibrant colors. The story is 7.5/10 good enough to enjoy. The action is 10/10 its a wow loved it. 29 unique levels with amazing bosses just perfect 8.5/10. It's very challenging depends on the difficulty you want very satisfying 9/10. The controls are easy enough to understand and handle 8.5/10. Perfect game if you want to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Taking names and kicking some demon ass The story of Unruly Heroes is pretty simple. The sacred parchment that maintained balanced was undone. The fragments darkened and scattered throughout the lands as demons came out to play. Guanyin, our narrator and Goddess of Mercy, has enlisted four unruly heroes to bring the fragments back and restore order. Of course, the demons won’t let you through without a fight. These unruly heroes that you take control of are Wukong, Sanzang, Sandmonk, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I wrote this review the game has only been 76% of positive reviews. I decided to write a review as I think this is way underrated. I'm playing this game with my 4 years old in easy mode. I'm close to the end and we've had a blast playing it. It brings some new mechanics all along the game which is very nice, allowing to never get bored. The difficulty in local coop is great because you keep reviving your teammate if there is a skill gap, but the time & rewards make it more competitive…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only did the first two or so areas but it seemed quite polished. Unfortunately the game list itself as both online multiplayer and co-op, which normally means it has online co-op but this game does not currently support it. It's 2019 there is pretty much no reason to have this game be online PvP and local co-op but not online co-op. As one of the comments mention give Parsec a try it seems to work pretty well: https://parsecgaming.com/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →sluggish, clunky platforming and bland level and puzzle design make for a very mediocre experience. and the third world with all the awful and irresponsive gimmicks has no bussiness being in any decent game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cautious recommendation here. I think this is one of the best platformers I've played in years but good lord there are so many tiny nit-picks and design issues I have with this game that all turn into one big ball of frustration that makes me want to yeet my controller through a wall. Bellow are my written first impressions but I also have a video that highlights some of the technical/design issues as well as the combat/platforming for those who prefer the format:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Single player game is fine, when you go into co op mode there are just way too many things wrong with it. Aside from getting items that only one player can use and if that player dies the other players have to wait to get the item which takes a second or two which could mean the difference between life or death. Last boss can permanently kill your characters so you can't bring them back to life. Too many constantly changing game play mechanics that don't really need to be introduced because…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cleared the whole game. I was looking forward to this game - it's platformer + battle game and I loved Ori 1&2 and Hollow Knight - and I wanted to like it... but the gameplay is too frustrating. The game requires precise platforming with instakills but the characters move like they're on a frosted floor; movement is sloggy and I was slipping off edges because they're slow to accept direction change commands and slide a bit before moving in the opposite direction. Animation locks for attacks…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot remember a game that managed to stuff pacing up so badly. Going from a really fun platformer and suddenly shifting gears so hard that it feels like a different game. It does so in several parts of it, kind of neglecting the character variety they already have in place. Then suddenly one large part of the game flipts itself so hard on it's head it's nothing but frustrating. The challenge lies in dealing with frustrating level design creating artificial difficulty.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The biggest disappointment for me is the combat design. Although the animations are unique and stylish, all four characters feel the same in combat. Their moves are not varied enough for me to consider switching characters depending on enemy type. The enemies are more of an annoyance than a challenge. They're so uninteresting that I wish I could one-hit kill them. Worse yet, they make the check points only available after you've killed enough enemies, so you can't really skip the fights.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really ♥♥♥♥ game! it's suffer for me when playing it with my friend. If you bug the game, you are eating ♥♥♥♥. And waste your money and time! Oh god, save me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a disappointment: not even close to Trine, Unruly Heroes is a very primitive and repetitive beat-up-up with poor character and level design, no hero progression, absent story line. It's full of bugs and workarounds for puzzles. Overall, the only good thing about it is how it looks like and a trailer on a Steam store. Do you want to pay 20 euros for a beautiful trailer? I definitely don't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey coop lovers! Short review: me and my wife had a blast with this. It's fun, it's tough, you can play solo or with 3 other players on the same screen, no multiplayer required. It has a lot of levels so you will be playing lots and lots of hours. What else can I say: the final boss gave us cramps and it took more than 30 tries but it was really getting used to so you have that to look up to, a good ending. Good luck, have fun! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fine but does nothing special. Bought it for the local co-op, my wife and I were too "blah" about this to pick it up ever again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its very hard to reccommend this game. at best its a 6/10 At best this feels like a mix of: Rayman legends art style. Guacamelee's combat with some platforming with some pretty good to ok puzzles and game mechanics. the biggest issue I would say would be the combat. even with 2 players the screen just gets so clutterd sometimes its very easy to lose yourself in it all. all the characters play slightly different, but in the end, because combos arent really a thing unless one player grabs and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is sadly crippled by the save system. There are extremely long sequences that you need to replay all the way through if you die along the way. A game being hard is fine, but a game being tedious is not fine. We played for a while but eventually bailed because of that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →wouldnt let me play local co op i angy no talk me no recommend
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The briefest and most accurate review I can gve is: You'll like this if you like Rayman Origins.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has good graphics. That's for me the only good point. The game is so harsh, or should i say unfair, it makes the game awful to play. Even the coop mode does not make me wanna try it some more... <_<
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The greatness of the graphics, the mastery of color use and the platform elements are truly superb.I think, this is due to the past of Magic Design Studios, who developed the game. The designers have worked on games like Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed and Rayman. So, I really recommend it to those who like games like Rayman and Trine. And you better keep an eye on these developers I believe they are going to make bigger and better things in the near future. Final Verdict: 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of Rayman Legends and Origins, this is the game for you! With an incredible art style mixed with fun platforming with up to four people and on top of that it's a video game adaptation of Journey to the West which does not happen often! Get this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, especially for the ones who love Journey to The West !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →These animations are pure eye candy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very charming and great art style, incredibly boring to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No depth, just mash some buttons and do some brainless tasks. You can barely tell what's going on during fighting when playing with other people. Might be more interesting playing alone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels pointless to play. I mean if you want to go A to B with no purpose. Yeah, than buy it. Combat is fluid but since it is enough to mash attack button to beat every enemy including bosses, there is still nothing to learn about it. Only way to die is just falling from a ledge because of absolutely boring trap kind of things. Which is STILL POINTLESS 'cause you have INFINITE RESPAWN from the right exact point you have died. xO omg even the platforms are ridiculous. The game doesn't even…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unruly Heroes isn't an awful game. It looks pretty. If it was cheaper and if Trine didn't exist, I might play this. But Trine exists, Trine costs less, and Trine does everything that Unruly Heroes does only much, much better. Trine has puzzles that are more puzzling, combat that is more fun, and characters that are more unique and engaging. So I would only consider Unruly Heroes if you've completed Trine 1 and completed Trine 2 and you can't wait for the release of Trine 4. It's a shame…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What could have been perfect platformer for every one of us it dwindle from the middle of the journey into obnoxious, tedious and really unnecessary painful experience. It starts perfectly amazing looking game and somewhat if not the best but decent platforming levels. Your heroes while are not the snappiest one on the market, they do the job by letting you to avoid dangerous paths and reach the goals. The art form looks really gorgeous and level designs pretty well done. Much shout out for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good platformer. Not the best one. Not as good as Rayman since it is the same people behind the scene but still good. It lacks some fun and attaching characters to keep on the comparison. I did not and I would not buy it at full price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first glance I thought only the artstyle was inherited from Rayman. But it was the character/level design too. All in all it just feels like a worse copycat. Why worse: Bad ledge grabbing from underneith Hitboxes disappear ahead of the visual representation (f.e.: King Bull - stage 2) At some points of the game too many hints on what to do next on others not enough (f.e.: not enough on King Bull - stage 2 or Fiery Flight) Edit: target sniping (not shooting) quests with a controller
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glorious art and luscious animation are obviously the main priority of this game. Unfortunately every other department has been sacrificed to this end. Controls are feel loose, bosses are a boring frustrating and repetitive mess. You spend the entire game going from left to right with an occasional burst of inspiration you might get to go from right to left for a bit. Enemies are dull and uninspired and they all behave in basically the same way. Bosses are often repeated and the “puzzles”…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another (potentially) good game ruined by a broken save system... Always restarts from the beginning, no matter how many "checkpoints" I activate. Waste of time. Uninstalled!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unruly Heroes shines through its efforts to keep things fresh both from a visual and gameplay perspective. It’s pretty to begin with, but as you progress through its story, not only will there be frequent changes in scenery, but they’re also accompanied by constantly refreshed platforming sequences and enemy encounters. Difficulty spikes and occasional control woes aside, the variety on offer here successfully keeps boredom at bay, while visually the title never ceases to impress. If you’ve…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At loading screen it freez in steam deck, Then ge proton 9-25 work. Don't expect to work on steam deck out of box. Change compatibility to ge-proton9-25
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Journey to the West is such an amazing source of inspiration and this game takes points of it for the game with all characters and the idea of making a simple and fun game in order to be accesible to everyone in a casual game But making this game with such a terrible control input (i dont know the right term) makes it play the game a stressful and irritating experiencie. The game is not optimized in this aspect which despite the graphics and story of the game is a must in order to make it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, what can i say about this game... The Start of the game EASY Closing to the end of the game HARD But interesting, good music, good variation of characters (but hard)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Already this game is fantastic. I'm really excited for the game "Black Myth Wukong," and this game is a fantastic one to tide someone over. Anyone who loves the classic 16th century Chinese novel, "The Journey to the West," will love this game. All of the four main-protagonists from Journey to the West are playable in this game being; "Sun Wukong the Monkey KIng, Tripitaka A.K.A. Tan Sanzang the Buddhist Monk, Zhu Eight-Rules (Pigsy) the Pig Demon, and Sha-Monk (Sandy) the Water Nymph." All…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unruly Heroes is a well made game, packed with action focus + various platformer. 4 characters have their own unique ability, for solving different puzzles and have distinctive benefits against different bosses. The original story of Journey to the West, the Monkey King (孫悟空) fought and killed the Skull Demon (白骨精) 3 times. The Skull Demon in the game is designed to have 3 stages, Magic Design Studios has certainly catch such detail. Another touch of the detail is about the Monkey King, MK has…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unruly Heroes is a game I really want to love but can only recommend half-heartedly. It has great art, good animations, is full of ideas with some surprising gameplay changes and it has local co-op. But it's missing polish when it comes to the controls, hitbox precision and general execution of the co-op. The flaws are most evident when compared to Rayman Origins. Where Rayman has super precise controls where you know exactly where and when to press a button it's too often hit and miss with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loving this game. awesome graphics, great flow of the game/story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game crashes when loading at the splash screen game crashes when loading my file game crashes in loading screens game crashes after the intro cutscene game crashes after i hop on a single ledge in the tutorial with the flaoting characters game crashes when i try to reload a file game crashes whenever, and the devs are freaking ghosts, ZERO support here. And I'm not wasting 2 weeks of potentioal refund time wating for them to ackowledge they made a terrible game, and I highly doubt they'd even…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I died a lot but it was fun! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is based on levels where you have to run, jump and fight through various environments. You control 4 characters and they all have unique powers, separate ults and abilities to help you traverse these challenging landscapes. I liked the monkey (Wukong) the most because he is fast and agile. In addition to the monkey, I also liked a pig because he is a funny character to me (when he inflates and comes like a balloon or when he flies with his huge ears 😂) When your hero dies you have the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I took that game a long time ago because of the amazing trailers, the fun music in them and the character and boss design. And screenshots. I thought the game will be distracting. I thought there would be some jokes, some original characters with an original background to them, and a lot of situations. That is the reason why I took this game to play it with children. But then when trying I quickly got bored by the platform game system and platform jump challenge and the total absence of what…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unlike in the source material, tripitaka isn't useless 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun blend of platforming and side-scrolling combat. I think there are games out there that do this better, but I'm also missing part of the experience due to the limit of co-op being local. It's still worth a play, and look forwards to see what these guys do going forwards. This Wukong is my place-holder until the next Warriors Orochi game, or Black Myth. *Just finished this game. It gets a 6.7 / 10 from me (Slightly above average). It has great music, and a nice art style. The platforming is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I saw this game and didn't really think it would be good. but I was wrong it is so worth playing it reminds me of the game that came out on the wii called Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Unruly Heroes art style is reminiscent Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Unruly Heroes game play it platform, puzzle, beat em up. and is a lot of fun playing with friends.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A brilliant platformer/puzzle game inspired by Journey to the West. The graphics are stunning as well, and the game also has a small sense of humor.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game needs more attention! fun gem here. Beautiful, colorful game with a hand drawn feel and interesting gameplay mechanics reminiscent of Rayman Origins. Pros - Animation is very well done for the style. Characters move and breathe Action packed - lots of fighting/brawling Neat balance of the characters and their abilities. A lot of unique/themed levels Interesting take on East Asian lore (I'm no expert, it just seems to be the theme) Cons -Some texture issues (rare) -Limited…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I just finished playing through this game, it was fantastic! The different characters are similar but different enough that I developed my "favourites" that I would either use all the time, or save until I really needed them for either and difficult platforming session or a fighting section. And that is what this game really is, a combination puzzle-platformer with combat elements. It is a fairly lengthy game - it took me 12 hours or so to get through the game and obtain all the scrolls. I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although it looks pretty descend it is NOT a good game. The controls are beyond catastrophic. You are locked in animation with each attack. This game has basicly no story. All in all a poor attempt to copy Rayman Legends
