Different scenarios take place at different points in the history of the world, so you see the people of the planet at different times from early in the colonization to generations later. The alien world itself has lots of strange and new species of plants and creatures, and the look of the settings is interesting and beautiful. Gameplay revolves around managing the actions of your community of colonists by giving them tasks…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →<edit> Unclaimed World seems to have been dumped out of Early Access unfinshed. All the potential I hoped for never materialised. Do not buy. </edit> Unclaimed World has oodles of potential oozing out from between the flaws. But don't be tempted, the flaws are terrible and many. After playing 0.1.2.1 in January 2015. I'm going to probably give this game a year or more before trying again. And now I have given it a year - it's January 2016 - and things have changed but not drastically.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unclaimed World is lets say rudimentary simulation of colonization of an alien planet. Sounds interesting but it's not. There are 3 tutorial scenarios and 3 other maps. That's it, you don't play a campaign, you play bunch of scenarios, some open ended some not. No real story, no really motivation for me to progress! Some scenarios start with small text windows, nothing else. You start always like with ca. 2-8 citizens with either tech 1 or 2. The most important in this game is to satisfy your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So as I sit here and play my 73rd hour I realize what a great game I stumbled onto forever ago. Do you enjoy the idea of a colony that actually has a backstory? This is your game! Just be warned that this game is incredibly glitchy still and may crash from time to time if you're not careful. Other than that I stand by this game and say that it is worth the 12-13 dollars they are asking for! :) Edit: Just realized I should clarify! I was a tester prior to Steam release so I've had quite a bit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately buying this game while still in early access was a mistake. I cannot recommend it. After a long development, the final game still feels like an early access version. The UI is horrible and one of the UI that really are the exact opposite of what an UI should do. It is not responsive, easy to control, easy to be informed and it is not interactive. You need excessively many clicks to do the most basic things. The graphic is nice – until u realize you cannot zoom in. It is like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still too early to buy, get a demo or wait for future developments. The game is beautiful and is full of potential, definitely watchlist-worthy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most beautiful games I've ever seen. Check out my thoughts on it: http://youtu.be/XMw65-hmA-4
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unclaimed World has great potential. I've only played Early Access at this point am excited about the possibilities. It's short on some features at the moment, but as the game progresses, I expect big things. You can check out my first experience with the game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-FKoY_6sFE
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Many reviews and ratings for this game are really out of date. I am writing this review as of version 0.9, have been playing since early Alpha, and have logged 80hrs on this game. I will say that a lot of those hours were very frustrating and felt like a slog BUT - the game is really improving. What's not so great: Thankfully it's mostly stuff that's still in progress! * Finicky system for harvesting resources; sometimes they're visible but not harvesting * Balance still needed for food…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game features only a couple of maps and some bare tutorials; Unclaimed World would benefit greatly from randomly generated sandbox levels. The interface contains a lot of information, and the game struggles to show it in an efficient manner. The production list needs a search function (on top of the filters already present), though the task list is useful and clicking on an item clearly shows the components needed to produce it. Unclaimed World has very deep, multi-tiered production chains,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this game so far for Hours and does crash from time to time which is to be expected with an early access game. I really like the concept of trying to survive in an unknown region then having the ability to control the outcome of each and every one of your people. Currently I own several early access games and Unclaimed World is deffinately at the top of my list. Patience is key with all early access games expect buggs. And talk about them. Creating games is a long process especially…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →About an hour worth of gameplay, and then the game abruptly ends without you being able to really explore and do anything. Not alot of direction in game. Sometimes it seemed like my colonists would pick up stone just to move it to a new location instead of doing the tasks assigned. Just not worth it in its current state. It has some promise but we'll see. *Edit April 1, 2014* The time limit seems to have been removed in the latest patch.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned game. Avoid
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →super slow updates and communication with the community is minimum, sad really as the game looks nice, bugs from day one are still present, avoid until the devs sort there heads out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shows a lot of potential, however, given that it is early access, it could still use a lot of work. I do wish the developer could have made a "Sandbox" mode of the first mission just so people could get a better feel of the game and what needs improved. Really looking forward to updates, and I have a feeling this game will be pretty awesome after release! Lets hope this developer sticks with the game and lets it reach its full potential! Good work so far!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Many reviews point that the game had poor AI and some bugs, but the current release seems (3 hours of playing so far, but I like the game) pretty solid. It's... a pretty peculiar game: a building/exploring/surviving game in which you try to survive on a planet (in various environment). But the design of the game is pretty unique, and also consider that you come from space, but you you'll need to discover again a lot of technologies during a normal game. A funny game, not perfect, but I think…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ABANDONWARE Do not bother with this game. Its unfinished and the devs dont give a ♥♥♥♥. Avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game quite a few hours, it's deep and unique and beautiful. But in the end it just bugs out. The AI is terrible, and since this is a simulation where you only set boundaries and give general orders, and the AI then has to execute this, this breaks the game. People go hungry all the time, get injured in foolish ways, will pick up weapons they can't handle, will stop doing tasks halfway. I'm interested in programming and would like to write an unofficial patch for it, so I'll…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an essay on frustration. It's original, with intriguing concepts, but the least that can be said is that it teaches you how difficult mere survival can be. Besides the clunky UI and villagers running around aimlessly, balance is harsh. Even while only building the bare minimum (shelters, campfire, basic staple resources gathering), maintenance tasks eat up all your workforce, leaving barely enough to cook food. Everything else sits in the tasks list forever, or more precisely until…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, I really wanted to love this game.. :( And to top it all off, game looks abandoned by the devs, which is a shame.. the art is good, the fun survival mechanics are fun! Its a gem.. a unpolished turd covered gem... I cant recommend it, unless you love Sims and its super cheap, then get it, I guess, maybe if the Devs get some money they will come back. Its super fun.. when its working like it should. The game is complicated but not impossible, its fair, man, Its just so damn sad it was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall I think this game is something to watch out for as it grows and grows. I have a video out showing some of the stuff currently present in the game. http://youtu.be/d2js3-T-bqk
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Utterly unfinished game, abandoned by dev.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a strange game. The gameplay is fine, the graphics are fine, the GUI _by itself_ is fine... but the type of GUI just doesn't work for this type of game. You are playing some pioneering colonists, so the gameplay and it's production chains focus on skills, tools and workshops. It's quite successfull with that, and you usually have some alternatives and options to chose from. It really does feel like a pioneer economy and not some disguised puzzle game. But the UI was obviously not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's just an unfinished game that's a chore to play I should add that I looked forward to this game back in the day, and I am a little heartbroken when I think about what it could have been. The style is so unique. I just think it could still be great if someone climbs out from the rock they're hiding behind and gives this game the polish it deserves. It's not even about the money at this point, it's just so friggin' disappointing, and they keep selling it like this. It should be illegal,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wee! My first edited review on Steam! Okay, first! Abandoned :( Artwork: 8/10 Music/Sound: 8/10 Genre: Zoned-based colony management (Create zones to harvest food, resources, AI takes care of actual harvesting) The original review still stands, but the game appears abandoned (prove me wrong Dev! ;) The game will eventually bog into a bug laden, yet beautiful mess. But, if you like the concept of the A.I handling the work while you relax, has buildings and rudimentary tech tree to increase…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edit:Game is abandoned and broken, 2021 and they havent released anything since 2017. STAY AWAY!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely, if you enjoy the feeling of surviving off the land and whatever resources it can give, coupled with some resource and personnel management. Currently in progress, but looking rather promising.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →abandoned with little content, no support, or replayability. Supposedly you need sales to support as opposed to the other way around, support and content for the price = sales, they think it's the other way around..lol Not the way it really works, might wanna save your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfinished and seems abandoned at this point
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just caved in and bought it , I played through the tutorial scenario and found it extremely engaging to play .. I think when this game is complete it could well scratch an itch for a type of game I have had for a very long time , I really hope they finish it and it doesn't end up abandoned. The AI pathing needs work and maybe a way to speed things up a little .. it can get a little tedious waiting for your guys to do something. Overall I am glad I got it , really really hope they stick with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. Around 6 months ago I tried it but it was far from complete and I thought they are trying hard lets give them some time and try again. After all that time I installed it again. They fixed some of the bugs but most of them are still there. People are always starving. You just spend most of your time trying to get people to eat so they wont die or leave. When you try to build new stuff it is even more annoying. Sometimes they will build it like an hour later and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rather enjoying what I've played of this so far. The screenshots in particular really don't show how much stuff there is to do here. Loads of materials, intermediate products and lots of different types of production. It's more The Settlers than RimWorld, though your people do have information about them tracked, from energy to tiredness, hunger, and general happiness too, amongst other things. I'll update this to have more detail once I've played some more of it, but so far, it's good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game shows a lot of potential, it's on the right path but at the moment it's lacking a lot of content and feels really buggy during combat and task orders seems bugged also. However the atmosphere the game and it's music creates is perfect in my opinion. All this game needs is to fix bugs, add more content and some dandy polish work. Waiting for a decent update then i will continue the review. Best to wait before buying for now, unless you feel you would like to support the dev's like i…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Note: This is a review of the Early Access version of the game as of Aug 24, 2014. The game is virtually unplayable because of the incredibly frustrating, unintuitive, unfinished, and buggy interface. I fought with the interface for at least half an hour, but anyone without a lot of patience and determination will probably give up on the game in a few minutes. I'm not sorry I paid for this game, despite its unplayability, because I do think the game has a lot of potential and I want to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an abandoned game, and consumers should expect an unfinished game, that never really worked right when it was receiving updates. The guide to help teach you how to play is very poorly done, and you're left to repeatedly fail until you give up or try something different, even though you'll eventually run into an issue that can't be dealt with and have to start all over again. The game isn't hard, it's just poorly thought out, and the UI leaves the player wondering what to do. It's clear the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a great idea, but it's been ditched without getting to where it could. I can't recommend it to anyone except those really interested in looking into different ideas.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fascinatingly unique concept for a strategy/simulation game that's completely undermined by its execution. Right now the game feels like a very rough prototype to a bigger, better game that could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of Rimworld but in its current state it feels rushed and unfinished. You know you're in trouble when even getting through the tutorial is a slog. The UI and controls are utterly unintuitive. Character commands just kind of float onscreen in translucent boxes…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea is great and has potential, as it has quite a unique play style. In particular, the idea that you can't control individual NPCs could give hope for not too much micromanagement. Alas, you won't be micromanaging NPCs, but you'll be micromanaging resources. Hence, the game very quickly feels more like work than play. I mean, just look at this guide. It's like, 10 pages about "how not to starve" https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=779559581 Last but not least, the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth a dime in its current state. Do not buy into the "early access" nonsense...you basically pay for nothing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As many before me have said, this game is still in production. It has some kinks to iron out. However, I did spend several hours exploring the landscape (over a couple of replays) and I am very impressed by the depth of this game thus far. It looks like it's going to be a very unique and exceptional builder. I would recommend it, so long as you understand that there are bugs and crashes and it's not a polished, finished product. If you're willing to pay into it then please don't complain…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do yourself a favor and buy rimworld, this game is far from finished.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I usually like this type of game I just didn't find this fun. I think its mostly the interface which is both cluttered and has multiple layers of menus that are hard to navigate, but I also think this is compounded by gameplay which seems to involve a lot of production chains and is equally fiddly. While the graphics do look nice I din't think they were especially clear in terms of being able to tell you what's going on. Lastly I didn't get the feeling of emergent gameplay which is what…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Needs a lot of improvment, very basic... no real aim.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing it for some hours and think this game definitely has a great potential. I am enjoying its atmosphere and concept. It's kinda like Banished on another planet, a survival sci-fi game: you're definitely set to feel vulnerable, exposed, especially if you don't take the necessary precautions. Once this game is finished I think it'll be an awesome and immersible game :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had so much potential. Sadly, unfortunately, it doesn't play like a complete game, and promised features have yet to materialize, and with over a year since the last update or announcement that I've seen, I can only assume it's been abandoned. What is there is... enjoyable, but difficult to get through, but comes out at something of a dead end with little more to actually do, leaving it, as said, feeling unifinished.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the idea behind the game, but I quickly began feeling hindered by the Interface. There are so many details, that I personally think there are too many. The interface fills most of the screen and I have troubles actually enjoying the planet surface and my settlers. I'm sure there is an audience for this game, because it's not bad. But the interface is too cumbersome for me and the many details are too many for my taste. Why can't I just make a mudbrick, why do I have to make a mudbrick…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was very sceptical at first seeing that this is an early access game, and I have considered for awhile now if I should buy it. The graphics didn’t seem to be worth a mention … I mean you’re playing with midgets Well two days ago I though what the heck, seeing as the devs are not going to drop the price I just get it over with and buy it. They’ll probably reduce the price now that I’ve bought the game (Murphy’s Law). I have only 90 minutes on record with this game and I must admit, its 90…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unclaimed World is an ancient game from 2012-2016. It's a whopping 8-12 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for the typical features of modern gaming PCs, hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on contemporary machines. The game looks and feels dated. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an old game. This seems to have be lingering on Steam with an inflated price to try profit from abandonware. And abandonware…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My reaction could best be described as mixed -- I wish there was a "recommended with caveats" option. I got this steeply on sale, and if you find it for less than $5 it's an enjoyable few hours. As a purportedly-finished, almost-$20 game, I do not recommend it. The controls are often clunky and opaque, and the limitations in scenarios are frustrating. There is one actual open-ended scenario on one map, and the others are scenarios with specific goals which you may or may not find…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A waste of money. I kept coming back to this while it was early access in the hope that a decent game would emerge but it ended up leaving early access feeling like an alpha. Disappointing. Huge potential but.. No campaign. Boring gameplay. Poor AI. Minimal story. Only a few maps. No depth.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Idea is great. I bought it despite of the reviews. But it's artificially complicated, has bad UX, bad controls, no options and in general it's very sturdy. Sorry, I really wanted to like it, but it's just not good. The AI sometimes decides that it doesn't want to move which keeps you staring on the screen doing nothing. The animations and characters are not interesting enough to watch them (especially since there is no zooming) so you just quit.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game really come a long way since I bought it. The last update mentioned they were coming out of early access in Oct. So I thought I'd play it again to see what improvements had been made. All I can say is WOW. I've been playing for about 13 hours since I started. i did get a little sleep in there somewhere. I keep losing all my coloniists, for 1 reason or another but it's not the 'rage quit' kind of feeling. I'm learning more and more about what NOT to do and what I should focus on.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice game, a lot of potential. Although the game isn't perfect just yet, it will be great in the future and you guys should get it now in case the price goes up. Watch my review of the game here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbkW5FL4xZk

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned by Developer, don't bother - Not enough content to be considered a game (would be lacking FTP)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a graphical version of Dwarf Fortress. However I recommend that you play dwarf fortress instead of this game. Particular since this game feels a bit unfinished. I like the 2d isometric graphics. It reminds of a few games from the 90s I played. I did find it difficulty to locate some of the resources at times. However there is a tool for the mini map that you can use to highlight and filter almost everything. 50% of your production will be you managing your orders and active jobs to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've had unclaimed world for a long time now and its turned into a very solid small settlement simulation game. The artwork is particularly lovely. Its come a long way since it started early access and I cant wait to see the final version.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great music, cool novel control design, and enticing atmospheres. It's sort of like an RTS inverted. Development has brought the game to a point where there's a decent amount of content, for an early development game. What's there is a good experience, and promises a lot more to come.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, after last update and after I played a few more hours, I have to say this is a great game. There are some glitches now and then, but you will find a way to fix them very quickly (it coloniosts freeze, try deleting the oldest task or zone, it always worked for me). Cant agree with those who say there is no significant prgress, I see huge progress in playability and responsiveness. As for sandbox experience, this may be the dream come true and huge breakthrough, if developers polish UI,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The apha is very short, and the tutorial clunky, but you definately get the picture of what they're going for. Gameplay more akin to "Don't Starve" except you control multipule people. Excitted to see swhere this one goes.
