60 of 188 · most liked firstThe game isn't exactly bad, I would've given 2 stars, 1 for the artwork and 1 for some of the story ideas but steam only let's us vote thumbs up or down, so it had to be down, here's why - the story ended up being a patchwork of inconsistencies - one dimensional characters, caricatures really - considering the burlesque characters I was surprised at the total absence of humour (unless you can laugh about a man in a wheelchair winning a pair of hiking boots at a raffle and more such tripe)…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The painting-like art style, clay animation-esque imagery, movie-like immersion, fairy tale-like storyline, and overall retro atmosphere, along with its distinctive characters, are captivating. While it may seem typical and ordinary in some respects, it was nonetheless enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This strange story never makes it quite clear where it is going. It is an average point and click, with beautiful graphics and quirky characters. The awkward animations do not diminish the charm of the silly adventure. Most puzzles have background information provided to help resolve, even though there will be a lot of back-tracking. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The main character is able to light cigarettes throughout the game, yet when it comes to need to ignite some gas his matches or way of lighting his cigarettes suddenly doesn't work here. So either his cigarettes are self lighting or the game has thrown in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ puzzle just to delay you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was having a good time until I hit a point where there was no obvious way to progress. I ended up Googling what I'm supposed to do, and there's a bit of dialogue that leads to getting an item that will not trigger for me. I looked in the bug thread created by the devs here on Steam, and I was not happy to see someone reported this bug FIVE YEARS AGO, and no one ever fixed it. I've tried everything I can think of to get around it but no luck. I literally can't continue the game because of this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is beautiful however it is really slow (slow dialogue, almost impossible to skip things, puzzles take forever) and with a dry storyline and delivery (the voice acting was sometimes quite painful to listen to). I completed it but it wasn't really worth it in the end. I feel like the development team were more focused on their vision and making sure that the player notices all the hard work that went into it, rather than considering what would make this fun for the player.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I stopped writing long reviews but man, this is a dumpster fire, the usual style over substance and functionality. looks really nice but should've been a movie or tv show, like most of these subpar excuses for a game. not that the story or characters are anything interesting, the music and voiceovers aren't great either, but these are visuals-only people, similarly to many so-called devs these days. they had more people making sets and drawing stuff than working on the actual game. you know,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has great graphics but that's about it. The puzzles are unintuitive, the story makes no sense, and the characters have no depth. We had to resort to walkthroughs to get through the game, which was very unsatisfying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I purchased Truberbrook when it was on sale for about $3, and after clocking 3 hours in the game I can't say that was worth it ,much less worth the un-discounted $30. The gameplay is not only lackluster but the narrative is nonsensical, I don't know if this was my own issue with understanding tone or straight up poor writing. Other reviews lead me to believe the latter due to the team biting off more than they can chew. (The fact you're encouraged by the UI to toss a seemingly insignificant…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Steam allowed ratings other than yes or no I could have given this game a more nuanced score, but since I have to choose this is going to be a no. Trüberbrook is a standard point and click adventure game. Technically it is quite well done, it is easy to control, looks beautiful and has good voice acting from German celebrities like Nora Tschirner and Jan Böhmermann. I said that it looks beautiful. Admittedly a few locations are a bit on the dull side, but in most cases the graphics…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice visuals. but that's it. The rest is painfully slow and boring. If you want a really good and creative "miniature/clay/puppet" p&c try [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/94300/The_Dream_Machine_Chapter_1__2/]The Dream Machine
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trüberbrook is a point-and-click adventure game that initially grabs your attention with its unique art style and promising setup. The game’s hand-crafted diorama visuals are a true standout, creating a charming, atmospheric world that feels genuinely distinctive. Set in a small, mysterious German village during the 1960s, the premise of combining sci-fi elements with a quaint, small-town aesthetic seemed like the perfect formula for an unforgettable experience. The Good: • Visuals: The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice relaxed charming humorous point and click adventure with good story, items to look for and put in the right place (press the spacebar to show interactable items/spots marked with a red x). The animations are funny and are a piece Art. The surroundings (chambers, environmemt) are a piece of Art as well! Sometimes, you have to trade items with a non-player-character. Have fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The writing isn't great, the interface is annoying, the characters are not developed. It's not funny or interesting except for the mystery, which can only take gameplay so far.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is on the short side, and not overly difficult, but the animation is lovely and the story is pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Firstly when i think of point and clicks i think of annoying puzzles and in general they are not really my thing but this game got me very interested with the art and story i finished the game torn because i want to try a couple other point and clicks story driven games so that's good for me personally but this game left me pretty let down it seemed like it was going to be funny and deep but ended up being shallow and quiet boring..... i really like the voice acting and art/setting but the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Point-&-Click Twins Peaks without the Peaking First time I'm disappointed by a The Adventure Library recommendation. Strange that it received a thumbs-up from such a reliable curator, cause I just don't see it. I usually avoid leaving negative reviews on small indie games but this one has a Mostly Positive score so I'll make an exception. Visuals and vibes gave me a solid first impression, but sadly that's all I ended up liking about it. Everything else ranged from mediocre to bad. Puzzles…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Truberbrook, developed by btf and published by Headup, is a point-and-click adventure that feels like a loving homage to classic mystery storytelling while simultaneously experimenting with a rare visual technique that makes it one of the most distinct-looking games in its genre. Set in a small German village during the late 1960s, it places the player in the role of Hans Tannhauser, an American physicist who wins a mysterious trip to the remote town of Truberbrook. What begins as a peaceful…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fantastic and I really highly recommend it!!! The whole game is totally a work of art! Playing it is simply a delight! And this game made me first realize that I'm so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ interested in puzzle games! This game is completely worth the price and recently it's even being offered at an unbelievable huge discount! Grab it now! Don't even hesitate for a second! Oh! Btw, I love the German voice acting! That's the version I chose.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great piece of art and fun to play. Even the story is nice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Truber... Tribi... book... brook-thing" has a weird name and it holds up to it. The game, as the name, is utterly meaningless. Look. I get it. The devs worked hard to motion capture the scenes and all, but it doesn't justify this ... thing. To put this in the words of the main character, that nailed it on the head by chapter 2: "This gets a little boring..."
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stunning visuals and atmosphere, but the story and puzzles are just meh
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing for over 9 hours, I have managed to get about 3/4 of the way though, slightly cheating when I became completely stuck by using walkthrough videos. I do think it is silly how you have to do things such as ask the same question to an npc over 10 times to get an achievement however, and because I have done things (slightly out of order), I now cannot access a scene to collect a piece of fruit for another part of the game! As a result, I am going to uninstall the game. I wanted…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i got the bug where i can't get the lighter(which seems to have been around for years) and therefore can't finish the game. Very annoying and should have been fixed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Truberbrook is a quite decent little point & click game that stands out in the genre. Made by a German "Independent production company" (do not mistake with indie devs!!), this game is a solid product from start to finish. BTF GmbH re known for their Netflix/Disney series and Paramount documentaries. That explains the better than average quality of the game. Truberbrook gives off the vibe of stop-motion Claymation titles such as "Coraline (2009)" but is in actuality handcrafted dioramas.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starts promising and collapses into a terrible concert scene and an ending worse than monkey island 2
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/h780czLTnWU Great good fun puzzle story adventure game. I played it on my channel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is flimsy, there is bad voice acting, bad dialogs and the puzzles get more and more annoying in the game. At some point the logic is gone and you just have to keep clicking on everything and talk to everyone, in the right order, to progress in the game. Very annoying. I bought the game for a couple of euro's which is ok, the game is not worth the full price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like others have mentioned, the association between items and their usage isn’t very clear, which can confuse players and force them to rely on online tutorials to progress. That said, the art style, story, world-building, and dialogue are all unique and whimsical. Overall, I’d say it’s a very fun experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This has to be the most tedious game ever made.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Places you in an immersive world with beautifully rendered art and quirky characters. However, the gameplay and puzzle design left me bored and frustrated, and the characters' motivations were shallowly explored, making it overall an unfulfilling experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most boring and dull games I've played
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We played this two and a half times, and overall it's very enjoyable. The art style is impeccable, and the best part of this game. On some puzzles, it's not immediately clear what the goal is or, in some cases, the solution is somewhat silly. Nonetheless, they are generally satisfying to complete.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is so much better than its reviews. I played it when it first came out and did a second playthrough five years later - there is very few games I can say this about. It's an absolute labour of love, and the setting, the scenes, the loving stop motion animation and the soundtrack alone are worth your time. give it a shot. right now it's at 90% off, you can't go wrong.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good artwork, rest is ok-ish. Not worth the full 30e price tag, only worth getting during a sale/bundle.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trüberbrook is a charming sci-fi mystery adventure that oozes atmosphere. The handmade miniature scenery is genuinely stunning. Unfortunately, my playthrough hit a wall. I encountered a bug that wiped out a significant chunk of my gameplay. Having to redo large sections killed my momentum, and despite enjoying the story up to that point, I ultimately gave up. On the technical side, the game ran flawlessly on my Steam Deck OLED (Linux SteamOS), no issues there until the progression bug. It’s…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Now that's what I call a real point and click puzzle game! Nice handcrafted world, well created characters, logical puzzles (which are not really hard) and really interesting, nonordinary plot about an existence of different dimensions in this world. Maybe inner version of myself from other dimension is reading this review...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Optisch ist Trüberbrook wirklich beeindruckend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome Point & Click Game The fact that this was build in real life miniatur is crazy! Buy with discount, 30$ is a little too much for that
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended with reservations. Visually the game is a treat, the blend of CG and miniature work is terrific. The story is alright if a bit rushed. The puzzles are occasionally baffling. I learned in the last bit of the last chapter you can press 'space' to reveal clickable objects on screen and this definitely helped with some of the puzzlework where I was fairly confident I had the correct items to proceed but was just not using them in the correct part of the screen. I don't like that I had…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful graphics and animation. That's about it for the pros. Story and gameplay is boring and tedious, voice acting is so so, puzzles are uninspiring and sometimes illogical. Don't think I payed much for it, but the cons are enough to wish I never bothered playing it tbh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love a good puzzle game. My 9yr old and I have been playing this together. At times we've found it a bit challenging and even needed some assistance. The artwork is lovely and the story is interesting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is another game where I wish a mixed option existed. Truberbrook is a decent and shortish point and click. I got the game on sale. Honestly the 30$ price tag is a bit much, especially for a KS funded game... You can literally get everything in this game done in less than 5 hours. The game is beautifully crafted, I loved the art, the music is good, and my absolute favorite part of the game was the concert. That's it. The story is ok, some of the puzzles were pretty obnoxious, and some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →- On a shorter side. - Plot became weak after finding gates. - Characters stories not really told. - Too few locations. - Missing proper outro movie. - Nice visual style. - Nice sound. Overall I enjoy it and would happily pay for sequel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would I recommend Truberbrook to other players? No. Why? Simply because there are better games of this genre out there. Did I regret my time playing Truberbrook? No. Truberbrook is not a bad game, but it is not a great game either. The graphics and art style of Truberbrook are good, but the sound, voice acting and music are not so good. Truberbrook is also a very slow game; very, very slow, and if I'm honest, a little bit boring. The story didn't really draw me in, although there was a good…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nothing special, just good story for few evenings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →slow, boring, tedious.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got bored after Chapter 2, slow paced and the game mechanics are too slowed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A unique, charming game with some interesting twists and turns. It has some annoying aspects, like getting around slowly, but the animation and aesthetic is overall worth it. An earnest effort worth the low price for a good amount of gameplay. Enjoyed the characters, story, and scenery.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is actually a good game (if you enjoy point n click adventure/puzzle games) - it looks very nice, voice acting is good (not AI crap) and at $0.50/hour of entertainment (roughly), it's a bargain (on sale) I would have liked an on board hint system because sometimes it's just not obvious what to do next ( I had to consult a walkthrough a few times)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is slow but don't let it discourage you to play the whole game. If you are stuck, read guides or watch walkthroughs. I got the game for free btw.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! The art style is fantastic and the developer claims to have handmade assests and environments, which really shows up. But the gameplay and puzzles are not very intuitive. In the ending chapters, it straight up felt like a chore to me. But hey, the story was good. Overall, I'd say 7.5/10. Story and art was fantastic, gameplay was not. Would recommend if if you like calm games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just as I felt sadness when the Opportunity Rover on Mars sent its last message back to earth, I felt a pang of sorrow as an intelligent computer in this game met its fatal demise. I assume I framed that in general enough terms for it not to be a spoiler. I picked up this point and click game during a sale, and the story was engaging enough for me to want to discover the outcome of the adventure. The graphics are actually quite nice, and from what I've read, they used physical dioramas as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little Sci-Fi adventure game! One of the better Point & Click type games I've played. I really hope they make a sequel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the atmosphere
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a 2.5D point-and-click story-driven puzzle game. The art style of the game is simple and effective. I didn’t like the character design, though. The story is about alternate dimensions. It started off well but fell apart after the halfway mark. The puzzles are okay. They felt illogical at times. A few achievements require you to play some of the sections or even the entire game again. So, be ready for that. 100% is possible in a single playthrough if you have a YouTube guide open at…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PRO: Nice graphical style. CON: Bad technical implementation, fiddly controls, tedious riddles, awful dialogue, ridiculous writing, unskippable sequences... Just not worth the pain.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Introduction Truberbrook is a point-and-click adventure game developed by btf. Set in 1960s rural Germany, the game follows the story of Hans Tannhauser who arrives in the village of Trüberbrook to spend his vacation. This is one of those games where a thumbs up or thumbs down rating doesn't quite do it justice. I'd be much closer to giving it a neutral rating, but since that's not an option, after some consideration and taking into account a few annoying bugs and the fact that the game's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked this game for its mood and art. However it is difficult to use (simple click and double click doesn't work smoothly - the character goes away in another direction, doesn't pick up the thing etc.) and I believe that for mac there are some bugs in there, I got stuck in chapter six, unable to call the crows to the tree, even if I had all my accessories needed.
