Traffic Giant
Developer QLOC
Traffic Giant (German: Der Verkehrsgigant) is a video game released in 2000 by Austrian developer JoWooD Productions. It allows players to create a working public transportation system in a city using buses, streetcars, commuter rail, suspended monorail (much like the Schwebebahn Wuppertal), and Maglev trains. The game used 2D isometric graphics for its interface. From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

So I think I'm quite familar with the game to give it a review. This version of the game is a poor port of the original version. You think the old game has a lot of bugs? This has even more. Sometimes passenger won't embark nor disembark the vehicle (thus rending it unplayable, this is a transportation simulator). Game crash or freeze as soon as you start building a rail line is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game was a classic but now it crashes in year 10 like clockwork also gridlock is costant after year 4 regardless of the number of vehicles on a line the original game was great but this reincarnation needs work
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This re-release is a cash-grab scam for which the developers should hang their head in shame. Traffic Giant will forever hold a special place in my heart. Indeed this was virtually the first game I ever played, picking up a copy in the early 00's in a charity shop. Having played this game as a young child, I was excited to try it once more as an adult. Upon launching the game, a wave of nostalgia ripped through my body. I was heartened to discover that the UI is just as confusing as I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, this is real crap! I enjoyed playing this game as a child, but the version offered here is unbelievably unperformant and almost unplayable. Items can sometimes not be placed, then again items can not be removed. The sound is incredibly loud and can't be controlled down within the game. With every menu change the game breaks off briefly and then pops up again. On a normal HD screen you only jump from one side of the map to the other when scrolling, smooth scrolling is virtually impossible -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game I lost a lot of my teenage years on Windows XP is now available for Windows 10! I used to love this game as it was basic but it offered something other similar games didn't- traffic running on the left hand side of the road. The major problem for me on Windows XP 32 bit on old computers was the game would lag and slow down due to more lines and bigger maps quickly became unplayable probably due to hardware limitations. Hopefully on my current gaming PC that is a world away from my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is unplayable in its current condition. Crashes every 5 minutes. I've played this game when it first came out. It is a good game but the technical gliches in this version are not worth it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i loved this game growing up and despite its occational bugs i sank many many hours into it... unfortunately this port of the game is basically unplayable, random crashes, save files not opening again, no progress storing, and complete crash to desktop the moment i placed a train track down i was soo happy when i found the game on here i have been soo very badly let down in my expectations
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i really love(d) the game but this is ridiculously unstable beyond the point of being unplayable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is kinda old, but still good, if you like these sort of management/tycoon games. However this version is unstable, it crashes often, does not register campaign progress, etc. These technical glitches make playing a rather frustrating experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game would be lovely if not for the constant crashes and other technical problems. burning dumpster of a game, which is a shame, because it was one of my favourite childhood games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game! it does crash sometimes when you are far in a game and start building a railroad. I do miss the expasion pack in this version. (gold edition has this) Would love it if this will become availible!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't play this game for 20 years, but I still remember the first city of the campaign very well. It aged well, still very playable, even on old laptop. Recommended for every fan of public transport systems.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly as others have concluded, this version of Traffic Giant is unplayable. The original had bugs, such as the game crashing when trying to add a suspension railway, but I knew my way around them (turning off all the animations in settings). But this version has faults which can't be overcome and top of the pile is that saved games won't load. So even if you try to avoid the bugs by saving the game each time you add a new line, and renaming to a new version each time you set up a new…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was all going great until Mission 12, now it freezes and doesnt allow me to do anything. Need to logout of windows and then back in to get it away as even task manager is not visable. No idea what causes this but extremely annoying! Until someone fixes this the game is ruined!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game for some lazy hours. Not to complex but every mission with its own difficulty.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as much fun as it could be: 1) There's a lot of incomplete or missing UX features such as hover-on description labels telling us the function of a particular tab/button making it significantly easier to navigate through the game controls. 2) Moving around using the right mouse button only is extremely awkward; why not allow for WASD moves? It's proven to work well and it's intuitive too. 3) No date and time? Upkeep and advertisement are paid monthly but we don't know when that is. 4)…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fullscreen only and does not play nice with a 4k setup. While I don't expect such an old and classic game to have that, the fullscreen kills it for me. The resolution forcefully changing messes up the pc, reaction times are off, typing is delayed, etc. I understand you can only do so much for an old game; however, it does not change that its not very good right now in its current state.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good to see an old classic game from Jo Wood on steam. I have spent many hours on this game years ago. The only thing that annoys me is the edge of map scrolling speed goes to fast.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review Traffic Giant is a game developed by QLOC and published by UIG Entertainment/Toplitz Productions The game offers some really nice graphics and a nice yet simplistic aesthetic which is pleasant all the same and has some amazing attention to detail even though it is a little rough around the edges The game does suffer with some repetitiveness at certain areas of the game but a fun game nonetheless and ends just at the right…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is nice to be able to play this game again. I played it in the 2000s and enjoyed it then. It's great having it back.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not Recommended. Even though this is a classic and I love the game, this versions has many problems and has no fixes for problems that already existed 20 years ago. The Multiplayer mode simply does NOT work, no matter what I tried. Other problems like the scrolling issue (somewhat solvable with RivaTuner) and the random crashes in long-running games also take the fun away.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How can bus routes be interesting I hear you ask? JoWood knew and made an absolute classic game about managing them! I have fond memories of whiling away the hours playing Traffic Giant over 20 years ago, and replaying in 2022 I fall into the same trap, easily spending 3 hours getting lost in creating bus routes. There is something inherently satisfying about putting in a new bus route and optimising existing routes to maximise wait times, traffic levels and getting people from one side of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like games with public transportaion
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bug is everywhere. The game crashed frequently and unpredictably.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. I recommend this if you want some chill out game and see if you can be a good traffic transport designer. At bonus mission 5 mission for me become unfinishable, and felt a lot of frustration becose of mechanics of popularity and passengers refusing to use my lines ( tickets were almost for free) but still its good game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Es ist das beste Spiel der Welt.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have fond memories of this game, but this is unplayable now. The map scroll speed is just too fast. I move the mouse, and I instantly end up at the end of the map.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game in my youth and I still love it now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's TUESDAY! So we're dealing with MORE TRAFFIC! It's scenario 11 of Traffic Giant.... and it's a more densely populated town.... will this crash the game again!? www.twitch.tv/leedipus
unlabelledView post →This game is still replayable and fun in 2026. I remember playing this way back in the day when it first came out. There are a few glitches, like the cutscene videos are upside down for whatever reason, but otherwise everything works as it should for gameplay. Traffic management can be a pain in this game, and it's one of my main complaints. Your own buses and trams can create huge traffic jams even if there are hardly any other cars on the road. but the game was like that when it first came…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever played a game about buses? Traffic Giant is an old and very broken PC game that might cause my entire system to crash.... COME SEE! www.twitch.tv/leedipus

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like monorails, yes. The game runs just fine on my laptop. I will attempt to beat all of the levels, naturally. I now know how to record making it easier to make videos on this lovely little game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The BEST addictive game i was playing. More than 20 years later i playing a long for hours. The game are better than screenshots. Reccomended
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →20+ years later - still a great, easy to play, casual game to think through traffic grids for cities. Love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game 20 years ago, despite the bugs it always had. I cannot love or even tolerate this version of game. What a shame that a relatively stable release with working vehicle movement is too much to ask for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game if you are into city management.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is the original one from Jowood released in 2000. As far as I see, no adaptions have been made to the game itself. If you never played the original, you will find better games nowadays, i.e. Transport Fever series. However, for nostalgia reasons, it is pretty cool ;-) It does support 1080p resolution when playing in-game, but the game menu is still in low resolution. Also, please note NOT to use a multi-monitor setup! They have to be deactivated (or turned off in case of DisplayPort…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun little game to play.....
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is great, only sadly you can see the old age and outdated UI. Unfortunately, there is no system of statistics and milestones, so you play maps somehow blindly without a goal. Otherwise a total of 8/10, due to nostalgia.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only simulation of creating a network of public transportation in a city. This game is very much recommended for tram and metro fans. However - you must first, make your way with earning money on some bus routes, before you can upgrade to trams and metros. :-) Hopefully, this game will get a multiplayer version, that can be played through steam, which it had in its original version. Nice graphics, even though it is a 20 years old game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Traffic Giant is fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great classic game !!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Similar to, and as addictive as, Cities in Motion and Cities in Motion 2 (CiM/2). I'm sure this game had to be an inspiration for the latter. Available modes: bus, tram, surface railway, Schwebebahn and mag-lev monorail. Note: all cities and regions in this game are fictional. In spite of a few minor bugs and some design flaws, I still recommend this game. It is captivating because of its retro charm and and addictive due to the theme and objective of the game (public transport…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoy this game. I've worked through most of the cities and keep coming back for more as there is a near infinite potential solutions . Not super complex once the basics are mastered but still satisfying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Traffic Giant is a classic. A very flawed and a janky classic at that. I think your experience will depend a lot on if you like this kind of challenge based sandbox gameplay and how your PC handles it. It's far from a masterpiece in any respect. As a bus simulator it works decently enough. Build bus lines put buses on routes. Same with trains expect that you have to lay tracks. Pretty much basic stuff. The variety of different vehicles and various missions which are decent. Seeing yourself…
