What people are saying

Mostly positive, but some find it shallow and repetitive.

Many players praise the unique story-link system and the game's atmosphere, with one calling it 'a AA game with a AAAA heart' (R9). The asynchronous multiplayer where choices affect other players is widely appreciated as 'a really cool idea' (R20). [9][20]

However, some criticize the lack of content and repetitive gameplay, noting that 'the levels are basically the same no matter what variation you end up entering' (R7). Others feel the story-link system doesn't reach its full potential, with one saying it 'never fully commits to the implications of its own world' (R31). [7][31]

Praised story-link system · atmosphere and visuals · narrative depth

Tides of Tomorrow is not a terrible game. It is a game with a genuinely interesting premise that never fully commits to the implications of its own world, its own choices, or its own mechanics. The Story-Link system is clever, but mostly logistical. The apocalypse is grim on paper, but emotionally sanitized in practice. And the writing keeps asking you to care about stakes that the characters themselves never really seem to feel. There is a much stronger version of this game hidden inside the…

The game is an interesting idea and if your really intrugued, by all means play it. That being Said I think they kind of ♥♥♥♥♥footed around the concept and didn't really commit to it fully. Probably a publisher decision to be fair but it hampers the game badly. Alot of the choices you personally make feel pretty superficial. And alot of the times where i was viewing the previous player, it was just showing me where i would be rail roaded to next. Feels like every decision both players make is…

It's like Waterworld (1995) and Cyberpunk 2077 had a woke environmentalist love child, and despite some of the characters and writing leaving much to be desired, it's still a great game for some reason. 7604-1807 <--- My seed if you'd like to follow me but fair warning you will be playing the game on hard mode.

I’ve been waiting over a year for this game, and it absolutely delivered. I haven’t finished it yet, but I will update this review once I do. I’ve always enjoyed DigixArt’s games, especially Road 96 and 11-11: Memories Retold, and Tides of Tomorrow lived up to my expectations. The story is already interesting, but the visuals are on another level, absolutely beautiful. The choices you make will not only affect you but also the player who comes after you. You can interact with different…

Its alright for the concept but with the whole thing feeling like option a or option b depending where or what in the story you are following make it very niche, and the fact the ending of the game is now absolutely ruined for me because there was no ozen for me at the end I ran out of my supply I get to lose the whole premise behind the game of you being able to help the next "tidewalker" and the "tidewalker" before me is able to help me as well as losing access to possible endings without any…

Because the gimmick of the game is so punishingly front and center, I wanted to push some positivity about the art and music. The platicpunk aesthetic they've developed for this game is 10/10 dynamite. There's tons of little objects, details and moments that build to an aesthetic that I would love to see in more projects, both in this world and in others. It feels like an opening text that could have inspired tons of other media to take inspiration. The levels are brimming with little details:…

I feel like this game improved on a lot of aspects that Road 96 felt a bit lacking on. The game, admittedly, is still very much narratively focused (It's why we're here, or atleast I am) but when there is action, or minigames/activities, they are much more fluid, interesting, and in-depth than before. The movement feels fluid, the chases feel fast and fun, the boat combat feels good, and the races are a good time. Another thing I'm loving is the weight, and consequences, of your choices. A big…

Wanted to give it a yes as the story and world had me hooked but, depending on who you end up following, the following player system locks you out of the actual action so many times it renders the game pointless making you feel like a mere spectator rather than an active player.

Great idea, but the story kinda sucks. It's proof of concept more than anything else. It's also in this weird place where it feels like it could easily be an E rated game between the gameplay, voice acting, and themes, but then it has language that feels totally out of place.

Cool idea, unfortunately it lacks the amount of content needed to justify the premise. Gameplay is mostly ok, the walking sim parts are broken up by some exploration, dialogues and sneaking - none of it is great, but it's serviceable enough. Unfortunately, the levels are basically the same no matter what "variation" you end up entering. On top of that, the choices you make don't matter at all most of the time because they just lead you to the same place anyway. Seeing what other people…

Overall i like the game mechanics and how you can others impact your playthrough and the other way around. But i really just don't like the characters, not to be a straight up hater but i feel like none of them are really likeable? I enjoy playing the choices matter games, but this kind of story/story writing is really personal prefference. You will either like it and get hooked, or your bored all the way through the game.

Before anything, if you are interested in following my playthrough, here is my so-called seed code: 5722-9174, use it so your Tidewalker comes after mine and see what I "left behind". This game starts slow, and for a time I thought that is how the whole experience was going to be story-wise, but gladly it is not, because I love great stories and that is a must for a game to be good for me, and this one does not disappoint. I liked their previous game, Road 96. It was a good narrative adventure game, but for me, it lacked impactful choices and actual gameplay, not just minigames. In Tides of Tomorrow, I see growth in every aspect and no degradation: awesome music, good and interesting moral dilemmas and problems, and improved graphics. The locations are better, and there is more freedom. So, if you liked Road 96, you will love this story about the Plastemia cure. I also loved the link system that allows you to…

Road 96 is my favorite game of all time, so I tried to go into Tides of Tomorrow with as much of an open mind as possible because I knew that I would want to like it. First of all, what I take away from the game is this: other people mostly look out for themselves, and I need to learn to think more about myself. At least, that’s the experience I had based on the players I chose to follow in the game. I’m going to do a second playthrough and be just as selfish as most of the other players seem to be, so that I can reach a good ending. As for the game itself, in the end it’s always the same thing, and it takes about 11 hours to finish. During that time, you…

Honestly, when I first loaded into this game, I did not expect to experience such a beautiful story. The whole concept of following in someone else's footsteps and dealing with the consequences of their choices is genuinely brilliant. Every discovery felt meaningful because it was not just my journey. It was someone else's too. Seeing how their actions shaped my own playthrough made the world feel incredibly alive. The future the game presents also does not feel that unrealistic, which made…

That was a pretty immersive experience. If you like narrative-driven games, this one is a great choice. I came in blind with no prior experience with DigixArt games; I just got hooked by the setting. There isn't a lot of "active" gameplay, but since the focus is mostly on the story, that’s okay. I actually liked the boat fights - simple, yet immersive just like the rest of the story. The soundtrack is well-produced and highly immersive; it works wonders for the atmosphere. Most of the tracks…

Desperately searching for asthma inhalers because somebody else failed the prisoners dillimena. This review would be positive for a 15 or 20 dollar game, but for 30 dollars I don't think its quite justified. If you like road 96 you'll probably like this game, but it suffers from some of the problems of the last game like being a little too blunt with its political messages, being locked out of certain events because you missed a event, as well as some new ones like graphics bloat dragging load…

I really wanted to like this game. But the following another player mechanic really didn't work for me. Not to say it didn't function, but it made things feel less fun and engaging. The core concept of the game is solid, but for some reason the characters didn't resonate with me and the characters I felt like the game wanted me to like really didn't endear themselves to me in the same way they did with Road 96. I’m not convinced by the story-link. Regardless, the story flowed well with good choices and consequences, and the characters were heartfelt. I really liked the conversation systems when you are still fully in control and can just ♥♥♥♥ off. Which also means each charactes don't go on long prosaic monologue you have to endure. Making dialogs feel more grounded and immersive IMO. I enjoyed the ride.

Not quite the game I was expecting from the devs of Road 96, but I was pretty surprised all things considered how good this game turned out! Multiple paths to replay, community aspect, this game has it all. But it also felt like it was too "underbaked" Multiple times in game I got lost, a handful of times I got flat out stuck on the few times I got stuck/bugged into a place I wasn't supposed to be. I'm currently on my third playthrough of the game and I have only gotten 2 alternates for the various levels. Only 2. It's embarrassing but this... is pretty boring. The "player's choices" mechanic is fun for the first hour, then you just forget about it. But no, to me the real problem is the writing. And hear me out, I was a big fan of Road 96 but ToT doesn't hit the same way. Characters are never funny, never interesting, never emotionnaly engaging. Everything just feels flat. I would not recommend this game, especially at $30.

Overview The concept of following other players' trails while leaving your own path is intriguing, but I don't think it ever reaches its full potential. Gameplay quickly becomes repetitive, reducing the mechanic to simple trial-and-error like spotting broken platforms, avoiding bad hiding spots, or playing rock, paper, scissors. Performance is acceptable, though confusingly rough at times. Additionally, a persistent, unremovable crosshair sits in the center of the screen; with no shooting…

That said, the music, voicework and visuals are A+ and I did find some fun in some of the minigames. Also I didn't have any trouble with bugs or framerates as some reviewers have noted. This was such a great surprise considering how risky the hook is. You’re playing in a shared world where you deal with the consequences of whatever players did before you, creating this constant tug-of-war between being a bro or being totally selfish. Despite it being the entire core of the plot, the warning and message about cleaning the ocean and being aware of microplastics somehow isn't too proselytizing. Road 96 sequel, same exact concept with meeting 8 characters with different perspectives. The health system is also the same with it being consumed while travelling. Gameplay wise it’s an improvement with more ways to explore and new gameplay mechanics The “follow a strangers path” system is a very cool addition tho, makes every journey different and it’s makes it very close to a multiplayer adventure while still being a solo adventure.

And most of all, I love the constant hinting to optimistic points of view both through some dialogues and mechanics (most of the character traits are positive and push the player to act in a moral, even caring way). Been enticed by these devs ever since they got me into the choices matter genre. And Tides of Tomorrow delivers just as I expected, with a plastic polluted world on the high seas and a great narrative shaped by your goals. It's very unique aesthetically, and the environmental storytelling is amongst the strongest I've seen in a game. If you loved Road 96, then you'll enjoy this long but unique take on a similar world!

Great music, great mechanics, narrative design is poor(dialogue, characters, plot) - can't recommend since the game relies heavily on story.

Great game as usual from this studio. You really feel the love and passion they have put in this. Thank you for the great game.

I would love to see more narrative decision games similar this. Where someone or other's prior decisions actually affect what I can or cannot do. Game is short and simple. You feel the weight of the consequences for the decisions given.

Firstly, i would like to say how dissapointed i was by this game. The game is an improvement over the Road 96, but mostly in enemy ai. The game is filled with bugs, glitches and the framerates are constantly dropping even on high-end pc. The writing and the story is pretty bad too, they could have done so much with this, but instead chose to touch only the surface. The character development is lackluster and non-existent with some (some of the main cast like jax is just there as side gags). Its…

I loved the music, the characters, the easter eggs, and oh my the graphics and the design of this world. It is sooo beatifulll. Some choices were lowkey a bit weird and not as expected, but as a whole the game is funny and a wonderful story to follow with many endings (I believe). You have done a wonderful job DigixArt! I highly recommend you buy and play this game! If you have a bad pc though you may need to lower graphics since it isnt theeee most optimized. Wonderful game, Imma play it the…

Very entertaining game. I loved the online story-link idea. It has some bugs, but I still enjoyed it a lot.
