The Woman in Black
The story follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps, who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in the client’s isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Highly recommended, for one of the best genuinely scary moments you'll find in all of horror, but beyond that, a beautifully made, compelling, and haunting film.
unlabelledView post →Nicely cyclical fact: Daniel Radcliffe played Arthur Kidd in the 2012 film version of The Woman in Black, the same role which, in the BBCs 1989 dramatisation was played by Adrian Rawlins, who played James Potter, Harry’s dad in the Harry Potter films.
unlabelledView post →Countdown to Halloween movie watching continues with the classic Sleepy Hollow (yes, big Tim Burton fans). And two bonus ones that I did not intend to watch but the streaming channel offered. Forgot how creepy The Woman in Black is.
unlabelledView post →Brilliant fact that my bro spotted. Adrian Rawlins plays Arthur Kidd in this. He also plays James Potter, the dad of Harry Potter, in the HP movies. His son Harry is played by Daniel Radcliffe who then plays Arthur Kidd in the more recent film of The Woman In Black.

Gothic horror at its finest! I enjoyed the 2012 version even though it told a different story. #booksky #filmsky #horrorsky

unlabelledView post →The Stepford Wives (1975), because seeing what tech bros are up to these days, I can totally believe they'd be down with what happens in that movie, which is scary as hell. Also, The Changeling (1980), The Haunting (1963), and The Woman In Black (2012). I've been haunted irl. It's terrifying.
unlabelledView post →Went to Bromley to look for Christmas presents. Came home with an ex-library hardback of The Woman In Black - for myself, of course. Despite loving the TV film, I've never read the book. It's a large-print edition too, negating my other purchase: new reading glasses from Poundland.

unlabelledView post →I like the way they tried to slip one over in the casting of SLEUTH. Vaguely recall the programme of the stage-play version of THE WOMAN IN BLACK hiding the name of one of its actors somewhere other than in the cast list, so the audience was hoodwinked into thinking it was going to be a two-hander.

unlabelledView post →what made me decide to actually read The Woman in Black vs just watching the BBC version of the movie (or the Hammer one) was the prose. I opened it, saw the page count (so small!) and then read the first few pages and couldn't stop. The writing in this is phenomenal
unlabelledView post →The Woman in Black (1989) In a decade dominated by #Horror classics of their age, this is a movie better known for its remake. Which is a shame because this is wonderful adaptation. Quietly creepy, it’s a wonderfully well told ghost story.
unlabelledView post →#Authors&Writing #WriterSky #WritingCommunity #gothic I'm rereading The Woman in Black and having a great time! The setting is so eerie and remote, and so beautifully described. I haven't seen the movie becuz I'm afraid it will disappoint. If you've seen it, what did you think?
unlabelledView post →Venturing into the Hammer revival and #nowwatching The Woman in Black (2012). So far we have a mopey Daniel Radcliffe and a bunch of annoying quiet-quiet-LOUD jump scares. The atmosphere's ok. Hopefully it'll pick up as it goes along... #horrorsky
unlabelledView post →Watching 'The Woman in Black'. I remember seeing this in the cinema in Times Square, when I visited NYC in '12. It was this movie that made me think 'Daniel Radcliffe will have a HELL of a career if he wants it because he's AMAZING'. & I am pleased to have seen that prediction come true.

unlabelledView post →I like most of the classics of horror, but one I repeatedly find people don't really know of is the second film adaptation of Susan Hill's novel "The Woman in Black". Similarly to "Crimson Peak" I love horror that can scare you with little to no gore. Ghost stories being my favorite. Give it a look.

unlabelledView post →Gothic and chilling. It is a dour film with a rather misanthropic streak. Grief clashes throughout it. A film of funerals and claustrophobic rooms and unpleasant country locals and fogs. The Woman in Black makes a masterpiece of its source material. I wouldn't lose a scene.

A sad tale of family tragedy, lost spirits, and undying vengeance. This one is well made, with some genuinely spooky camera work and decent acting. Worth the watch.

I liked the alien design. The Woman in Black - Totally solid ghost movie. Didn't expect the ending which was a nice treat.
