35 of 35 · most liked firstBtw The first thing my son—who’s almost 15—said to me, after exclaiming that the movie was brilliant (it’s getting 4 stars on Letterboxd from me), was that the Backrooms are like the Upside Down from Stranger Things. And he’s right—strange, alternate dimensions. Crossover when?

unlabelledView post →Every now and then, I stop and think about the movie The Upside of Anger, a finding-love-after-40 romantic dramedy about a woman whose husband leaves her and she moves on with Kevin Costner. Except we eventually find out her husband didn’t leave. He’s been dead in the backyard the entire film.

unlabelledView post →Okay yes, I was the one who predicted that the Stranger Things episode “Sorcerer” would probably involve driving a truck full of volatile explosives through the Upside Down, because the Duffers were almost certainly fans of the classic 1977 William Friedkin film.

unlabelledView post →Also, I think Intouchables (2011, france) is a wonderful film, but the American remake, The Upside (2017) is awful.
unlabelledView post →WTF happened to the cinematography on Stranger Things? The first two seasons were lit and shot like they were filmed in the 80s. Retro lighting, an old film stock grain filter etc. Now it looks like every other over-lit streaming show. The Upside Down is lit up like the inside of a mall FFS.

positive · AI labelView post →Excited to see Bryan Cranston in action again! From his unforgettable performance in Breaking Bad to his amazing portrayal in Godzilla, and now in The Upside. A versatile actor who never fails to impress. Can't wait to see what he brings to the table this time! #BryanCranston #Godzilla #TheUpside

neutral · AI labelView post →I saw »#TheUpside« yesterday. Even though »#Intouchables« didn't need a remake and the Americanization was somewhat over the top, the movie was still quite funny and entertaining. I was especially surprised by Kevin Hart's performance, who is usually a pretty good indicator for a bad comedy. #SneakReview
