Despite initial skepticism from long-time fans over the gentler, non-violent format, the 1975 show became a runaway ratings hit for ABC. It quickly dominated its 8:30 AM slot, capturing a massive audience of young viewers. The success of the 16-episode, 48-segment run helped cement Tom and Jerry's place in modern pop culture, giving the characters a second life beyond theatrical re-runs. While contemporary animation historians often criticize the low-budget, limited animation and tame plotlines compared to the original MGM…

It's his partner's job to fulfill that need. And Jerry. Knows. That. proof? Well in the Tom and Jerry Show, they both live with eachother and .. Hello? Hello?

neutral · AI labelView post →Thinking yet again about the episode of the Tom and Jerry Show (2014) where Tom gets toxic waste dumped on him and he mutates into a fish-cat that reeks of fish so bad his owners could smell him through the front door and tore up their kitchen trying to figure out where the fishstank was coming from

No joke, I watched the show for an hour and I almost fell asleep from boredom so it was relegated to background noise. I enjoyed the bowling episode, there are occasional amusing animation moments, but that's it. This show gets a 3/10.

neutral · AI labelView post →Oh dear God... The Tom and Jerry Show is an example of a show ruined by network interference. It has traces of what made the old shorts great but beyond that, this show just doesn't work. The storylines are dull and T&J being friends from the start just doesn't translate into comedy...

I didn't care for the live-action movie, but I still would've liked to have seen it adapted in cartoon form, cause it would've been 10 times better.

neutral · AI labelView post →Okay... So, they do have all 10 seasons. They have 1-4, 6-10 in one set, and season 5 in another. Same happened to The Tom and Jerry Show, as its first season is in a set by itself while the other four are in their own set.

neutral · AI labelView post →Hell, try the Tom and Jerry Show from 1975, where these violent, fluidly animated rivals were not only filtered through stiff Hanna-Barbera animation, but they were no longer allowed to fight each other and were instead best friends. Even the Filmation version got that last part right!
