neutral · AI labelView post →ICYMI - I saw this at LFF, and it wasn't even the best movie about grief there (Hamnet), or the best movie about grief using birds as a central metaphor (Benedict Cumberbatch's The Thing with Feathers, which absolutely no one saw).

The trailer vibe is ALL wrong, holy shit xD like, it's not a horror story, it's about dealing with grief taken physical form.

But they made it 30 minutes into the surreal movie about a widower’s grief manifesting as a huge Crow-man before they left in a panic

unlabelledView post →Benedict Cumberbatch is superb in The Thing with Feathers (based on Max Porter's Grief Is the Thing with Feathers). The film is a surreal rumination on grief vs. despair. Raw, suspenseful, funny, aspects of horror. We loved it. Back home after a wonderful night, many lights, & a little snow❄️

In our millionth folk horror film about *grief*, director Dylan Southern achieves only one major thing of note: my darling crow monster muppet.
