The School of Rock
Fired from his band and hard up for cash, guitarist and vocalist Dewey Finn finagles his way into a job as a fifth-grade substitute teacher at a private school, where he secretly begins teaching his straight-A students the finer points of rock 'n' roll and the power of sticking it to the man. But as the school’s stern principal closes in and the Battle of the Bands looms, Dewey must risk everything to prove that… From TMDB

Tho I remember to keep myself practicing consistently, I'd hook up my guitars on my 360 & play Rocksmith for 1hr What a time!

unlabelledView post →I have devoped such a crippling weakness for hot men with long hair in slutty outfits. They make my heart absolutely melt Idk who the guy in the picture is, but he is an actor from the movie the School of Rock and he can absolutely fucking get it

It's strange, now that the movie is really dated (home phones, old TVs, old slang) kids seem to engage with and like the movie more. When it was newer they mostly didn't care.
unlabelledView post →In the School of Rock film with Jack Black, there's a brief montage shot where he's teaching the class from a blackboard. Well, a greenboard actually. It's titled "HISTORY OF ROCK" and some kind person has gone to the trouble of cleaning it all up so we can clearly read the complexity. Legend.
unlabelledView post →honestly the whole film worked for me because of Jack Black, and my nostalgia for the School of Rock. it didn't really need much else to work
unlabelledView post →MusicAdvent Day 20: Okay, we're nearly three weeks down, so it's time. The movie: SCHOOL OF ROCK. The song: "Teacher's Pet" by Jack Black & The School Of Rock Band. The song, like the movie, is basically perfect. If it weren't, the movie wouldn't work, but it does, and spectacularly so. I love it.
unlabelledView post →I despise that movie! During the decade my late wife and I recorded shows by the School of Rock, I met literally hundreds of young musicians…not one of whom was berated and abused into greatness, all of whom were encouraged and supported by their teachers, many of whom I consider friends.
unlabelledView post →This essay is extremely, extremely lovely also TIL that Paul Green, who founded the School of Rock (way before the movie, which entirely bit his style) decided not to get mad about that but just capitalized on it instead and now there are more than 300 Schools of Rock all over the world

unlabelledView post →My late wife and I spent a decade recording shows by the School of Rock. RATM is on the curriculum. (It was a real thing long before the Jack Black movie.) #schoolofrock

unlabelledView post →If I had a nickel for every time the School of Rock teaching franchise (not the movie) screwed over a family I know, I would have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
unlabelledView post →I love that finding the School of Rock Broadway soundtrack made me interested in watching the School of Rock movie for the first time. Twenty-two years late, but better latenthan never!
unlabelledView post →I’ve always wondered who exactly The School of Rock (the band from the film) were most influenced by. The song they do at the end is like glam rock/power pop mixed with AC/DC with a prominent electric keyboard part.

unlabelledView post →I’m mostly kidding but after just watching the School of Rock musical for the first time I really feel like I could actually accomplish something if this was nominated for awards. I love the movie and I really think I could do better

Just BS: on field trip to see #TheSchoolOfRock, a couple of teachers & chaperones got their panties in a bunch about — GASP — some cuss words & left DURING the performance! The #theater responded with grace (offering the kids a free performance) … and are getting a LOT of publicity. Good going, prudes! 😆 To support Ritz Theatre Company hub & I saw tonight’s performance; it was great.…
unlabelledView post →Our family loved this movie. While the language is a little strong, compared to other movies that are rated the same, it is relatively mild. If your children like rock, it is a lot of fun. If you are a family who tolerates no swearing whatsoever, or if "kick some ass" would shock or offend you, then it's not for you. The overall message is that uptight kids use their skills to create a rock show, a slacker finds a calling and realizes what is really important in life, and forgiveness abounds.
unlabelledView post →You are not hardcore unless you live hardcore. The perfect vehicle for Jack Black, a film to show that given the right material he’s a bona fide comedic actor of some worth. Plot has Black as Dewey Finn, a wastrel musician who has no job prospects and who spends his time mooching off of his best mate Ned Sheebly (Mike White). When Dewey is fired from his rock band he’s left in limbo and in danger of being homeless. But when he answers a phone call offering Ned a job assignment, Dewey decides to…
