The Rover
Ten years after a severe economic collapse in the western world, lawlessness reigns and life is cheap. Eric is a lone drifter, and his car is his only possession. When a gang steals it, Eric comes across the injured Rey, left behind by the car thieves. The pair form an unlikely and uneasy alliance. From TMDB

60 of 102 · most liked firstI was channel-surfing last night as I couldn't sleep and settled on a movie that I hadn't seen called The Rover. Very violent and not my usual fare - but it got me in because I recognised some locations (Hammond, southern Flinders, etc). Despite the violence, I actually thought it was very good.
unlabelledView post →More and more I feel like David Michod's film THE ROVER was a good look at where we're heading. Outside of being an amazing film that should have earned Pearce and Pattinson oscars it imagined a world post climate and financial collapse. Not Mad Max extreme aesthetics but a real near future
unlabelledView post →Finally! Someone who understands how Guy Pearce should have won EVERYTHING for The Rover. #filmsky 🎬
unlabelledView post →The Rover is on the Plex 24/7 livestream channel today. Clearly I am a glutton for punishment #filmsky. 😁 If you didn't think RPattz could act or need to see another exceptional performance from Guy Pearce that you missed, here's your chance! 🎬
unlabelledView post →Well, The Rover is a brilliant film. Guy Pearce is (as always) fantastic and Robert Pattinson showed the world just what he could do. #Films
unlabelledView post →THE ROVER has been popping up in my thoughts lately. A great, dark post-apocalyptic movie with excellent performances from R. Pattinson and Guy Pierce. Time to slot in a rewatch. . . . www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChM2...
unlabelledView post →If we're doing Guy Pearce appreciation, here's to 2014's oddball post-apocalyptic Down Under road movie THE ROVER, which also features what's probably my favorite of Robert Pattinson's breakout "let's get weird with it" performances. In a word, I like it a lot.

unlabelledView post →Just found out David Michod (who made The Rover, Animal Kingdom, War Machine, some incredible films) has a new movie out that I haven't even heard about and it's bad. Well damn.

unlabelledView post →The back to back hit of Cosmopolis and The Rover (a film that got slept on and shpuld have gotten Pearce the awards he got nominated for for The Brutalist) made me a Pattinson fan.
unlabelledView post →A reminder that Guy Pearce should have won Best Actor for THE ROVER. He and that movie were robbed.
unlabelledView post →Robert Pattinson is having his best year ever, but will THE ACADEMY recognize him? At 40, he’s yet to be recognized despite acclaimed turns in GOOD TIME, THE LIGHTHOUSE and THE ROVER. This year, Pattinson has stacked the deck. Read variety.com/2026/film/aw...

unlabelledView post →Can not recommend enough the Guy Pearce/Robert Pattison dystopian wonderland, The Rover (2014). It's a colorwashed dip into a bleak future, and it's just a great film in general.

unlabelledView post →Never watched Twilight and don’t plan to, so I don’t see Robert Pattinson that way. Gotta hand it to him though—his film choices are solid: The Rover, Lost City of Z, Good Time, High Life, The Lighthouse. I'm really looking forward to Mickey 17.
unlabelledView post →The Rover (2014) a bleak film about loyalty in the face of hopelessness, Guy Pearce embarks on a stubborn quest to get his car back from Robert Pattinson's brother
unlabelledView post →We don’t talk enough about The Rover. The movie where Guy Pearce taught Robert Pattinson to act.

Then an hour or two down the road they shot some bits of Wolf Creek. Pretty cool to see the way a big film crew works.

unlabelledView post →To take your mind off how utterly miserable everything is, I heartily recommend you read Sleepwalk, by Dan Chaon. It’s a semi-dystopian hippy road trip/asymmetric killer criminal story that reads like an indie cult classic film. Big Lebowski meets The Rover kind of deal. I adored it.
unlabelledView post →I probably forgot a ton of movies I'd put up there. Debated on a few, including The Constant Gardener and The Rover. Upstream Color too (horrible creator, but goddamn a fantastic, mindblowing film). Cabin in the Woods was an almost. And despite my cliches, I did not say Under the Silver Lake.
unlabelledView post →I love Ravenous, it's such a delightfully demented film and Robert Carlyle is the best in it. Also, adding to Guy Pearce Beards, we've got an extra-scruffy Guy Pearce in The Rover.

unlabelledView post →When it's a Guy Pearce vehicle, I do expect and am usually blown away. When he pops up in a Pretty People Imax vehicle, not so much. 🤣 That's why I say the difference between this and The Rover, I don't know how people slept on that movie.
unlabelledView post →This is the second Pattinson post I’ve seen this morning — what’s going on? 🤔😏 That said — he was in “The Rover” with Guy Pearce and it was a good movie. 👍👍
