positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could have been cute ... What could have been a heartwarming, stress-relieving indie platformer is undermined by one glaring flaw: the controls are frustratingly unresponsive and janky. ... but I ragequit
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →graphically, it's cute and pretty, but it controls like an absolute nightmare. jumping momentum is inconsistent, and you instantly pass out from falling too far, despite BEING A CAT. it's lovely that profits from the game go to charity for cats, but the game itself is flawed. I won't deny that it has a lot of heart, but I can't recommend it for its gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a nice backstory. The developers advocate for animal welfare and part of the profits from this game went into that. But, the game itself was rough. The animations of the cats were fine and I like how the other cat characters are based on famous internet cats. But, unfortunately the controls aren't that great and you slide around alot. The levels are short but feel like they take forever to get through because of how tedious they are, the boss fights are very boring, and the music…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked the story and it could have been a cute game, but the controls were really clunky which took the fun for me away and made me very frustrated
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First my review. This game is ok at first. The controls are a little sluggish, but the overall concept is cute and not too difficult. UNTIL you get to the piano minigame, then the game is a disaster and ruined. You have to practice the theme song a lot. You only get half a dozen misses, and you can't skip it at all;. Its so hard, it ruins the game. The timing on it is bad, it quickly introduces multiple simultaneous notes, and I fear it will be hours of frustration and hating life just to get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cute, more casual platformer about cats! It was enjoyable to chat with all the different kitties. It had a few challenging parts involving high jumping and a piano puzzle. The platforms were a bit hard to see on the final level. There were only 5 levels so it's a short game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried really, really hard to love this. It's super cute! Cameos by real cats! Emotional storyline, and told through pictures, not words! Piano music minigame! Unfortunately, controls and playability (execution) will always outweigh concept. This game has the loosest controls in any platformer I've ever played, and then Level 5 is about 85% precision platforming with insta-death drops. Choose your jump "mode" for the session, you can't change it without quitting the game (I understand this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cute 2D platform game, story is a little cryptic. You're the beloved fur baby of a kid-less couple, then one day the guys wife dies yet you live on. So he abandons you at his wife's grave, and you search for him thinking that he is lost. Gameplay seems smooth, content seems like there might not be a whole lot to the game but it is a fun play. Reminds me of 'Oddworld' and stuff.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An emotional journey of a pet cat, very humorous writing and challenging yet fun platformer game. Controls are sometimes clunky but it's bearable. You can slap mouses and have to sneak past dogs to reach your destinations. Recommended to purchase on a sale. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3356817929
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls don't work properly for this game on desktop. I can't run and jump without falling to my demise in level 1. There is no training/intro to help you get familiar with the controls before actually starting the game (should be optional imo). The game seems pretty simple, but it's not fun to play if the controls have a delayed reaction. I will press the space bar to jump, but about 1cm further on my screen will the cat actually jump AKA fall to its demise. This is very frustrating and I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun platformer game + even me - someone who is very bad at platformers - was able to finish the game, so pretty easy + CAT PUNS + music + story + simple, yet cute graphics +easy enough achievements - takes a bit to get used to controls, especially on keyboard. - waaay to expensive looking at playtime. I had to replay a ton of times and still took me only 4h. Buy only on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →feel bad to give it not recommended but the controls are so wonky, u slip and slide all over, jumps are so annoying sometimes like the dogs that insta kill u and pooping birds. cute cats tho but the story is bit sad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, tried playing it ages ago and just returned again for completionism reasons, the controls are just so annoying that it makes playing it a chore. I will eventually try it again just to get more achievements, but I actively dislike playing it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a bad game per se, but the control are annoyingly unresponsive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super cute game with amazing art and animations. I do recommend this game, however, please note that the controls can be difficult. With how the momentum works, inconsistency in actions, and confusing hit-boxes, it is still a cute and fun game -- just a little frustrating at times! :) I still spent the time to 100% the achievements and thoroughly enjoyed my time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, I have completed this game. I also legitimately passed the piano part. But unfortunately, as it is now, I cannot recommend this game. The story and idea is great. You're a cat doing cat stuff in different places. However, this is probably the best part about this game. The negatives sadly outweigh the positives. First of all, the controls. The damn controls are so wonky and difficult to play. There were so many times where I had trouble with the jumping mechanic to the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Purring Quest is a good platform game where you play as a cat thru 5 chapters: a cemetery, a village, a gothic quarter, a city and skyscrapers. It's funny, the drawing graphics are nice and the ambiant is great. I recommend it!!! 💗🐈💗
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cats' natural predators according to this game: rats, hedgehogs, frogs, birds, old ladies, security cameras, helicopters, awful imprecise jumping controls... Took me less than 2 hours to 100%, and it wasn't very good or fun overall. Also the "boss fights" were absolutely awful and frustratingly poorly designed. One "boss fight" was a music rhythm game, but that one wasn't even the worst one...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd love to give this game a good review, but the controls on keyboard and controller don't really work and it makes it unenjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not that fond of platformers, but I saw the cat and well, I had to try it. The Purring Quest puts you into the paws of a lovely cat that tries to get back to his two leged can opener. There are few levels that were quite frustrating since at some point fall damage started to exist. I thought our cat friends will always land on their paws, but I assume there is a limit of height dropped down. Anyway, I enjoyed it overall and all the cats found along the way with their goofy quotes were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From a visual perspective, this game is great, but man are the controls terrible. It feels like I'm constantly playing an ice level and have no control over how far or how fast I move. You'll be running and then a dog will appear and kill you before you even had a chance to realize that there was one. There's also fall damage for a cat game? I understand for the skyscraper level, but it just feels mean for the other levels, especially when the fall height to trigger the damage is so little.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Control (jump) is ambigious and difficult. Sometimes it is not straightforward what you have to do and there is no hint.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to love this game but the awful controls and crashes ruin the experience making it a frustrating never-ending cycle of redos. I wasn't expecting too much but I wish playing it wasnt as much of a chore as it was :/ On a positive note the kitty is adorable and thats about it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Purring Quest, developed and published by Valhalla Cats, is a hand-drawn 2D platformer that stands out more for its heart than its mechanics. It tells a quiet, emotional story through the eyes of a cat named Kimchi, who sets off on a journey to find his missing owner after a tragic loss. What follows is not a fast-paced action game, but a thoughtful, visually charming experience filled with atmosphere, soft storytelling, and an obvious affection for cats. The game doesn’t try to do too…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GOOD Points: 1. Charming and Heartwarming Story 🐱❤️ Purring Quest takes players on an emotional adventure, following the journey of a lost cat searching for its owner. The story is simple yet touching, making it especially appealing to cat lovers. 2. Beautiful Hand-Drawn Art Style 🎨 The game features gorgeous, hand-drawn 2D visuals that bring its world to life. The animations are smooth, and each environment is designed with attention to detail, creating a cozy and immersive experience. 3.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another case of a game that the developers never played nor tested. I have played Free Armor Games & Free Flash Games in 2007 that are better that this. Better in many shapes & ways. The staring & ending story is so bad, I cringed. The menu & settings are an enormous disaster. If you what to change the language, or the JUMP a CORE mechanic of the game... you need to close the game and relaunch. None skyppable intro nor cut-scenes. The JUMP is the absolute worst of them all, a jumping game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Purring Quest is a pure platformer that is usually very approachable, adorable and kids friendly. You have your attack, jump, climb, push objects, hide behind bushes or hide inside a box (Metal Heart Solid style). There are two ways to jump higher which must be selected before starting the game: one high jump or double jump. I picked double jump and never looked back. There are 5 levels total with the following collectibles in each level: 200 fish bones, rescue one cat and find one unique…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool The Purring Quest 6/10 Heisen
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun, short, platformer. I used an x-box controller for most of the game and had no issue. (The only time I swapped to keyboard was for the piano portion; found it worked much better for me that way.) The graphics are cute and the music is pleasant. You get different abilities as you progress. I appreciate the humor and all the effort that went into making this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this because Kimchi looked almost exactly like our cat, but the controls are bad and I gave up pretty early. I wish this was better.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"The Purring Quest" is a cute little Indie Platformer Game. You play as Kimichi the cat who wants to find their owner again. There are 5 levels and they get harder every time, also per level there are new functions, like hiding in a box or climping. In each level you can find a hidden cat, when you free all of them you get an achievment. I really liked the Artstyle and the Soundtrack. It wasnt tat realxing because i died like a thousand times. It took me almost 4 hours to complete the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →got it for sale was fun cute and the hardest achievement felt rewarding lol the dev seems very nice as well. un juego increible bien hecho 10/10 los gatitos son bonitos me encantan
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As it turns out, we've been falsely accusing our feline friends of toppling over potted plants for all these years. Potted plants are actually self-aware and jump to their doom whenever they see a cat, trying to hit it. Either that, or maybe this whole game was written by a cat. Anyway, this is a cute little game where you play as a cat. It is by no means without problems (the biggest one being the controls), but I still played through it and enjoyed it. The highlight was definitely the part…

So if you don't like kitties, you've got no buisness playing this game. It's time to go into detail of why this game is amazing despite its shortcomings. You play as Kimchi, the orange-dotted cat that's in a quest to find a medallion for his human. There are 5 levels in total, very short and not so much on the platforming side.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is from my girlfriend who played this game through steam share. I couldn't get past the first level. To start things off, I like platformers. I'm not usually a big fan of combat, but I get through it -- same with stealth, which this game also has some aspects of. I am not the best gamer for combat, so if you're great and like to persevere here, our opinions will differ. I played this game on recommendation from a friend because I like platformers, cats, and cute things, and what I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cute game, not for me wish there was a way to change the controls/keybinds, as well as settings to change jumping mode. not sure if there's another way to do all of this but an in-game way to do so would be neat animation is pretty gorgeous, i do adore the style of levels. but this is definitely a game you should try for yourself. i may revisit it in the future
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a short but claw-fully charming platformer that’s simply purr-fect for feline fans. The hand-drawn art is ameowzing, the animations are pawsitively adorable, and while there aren’t a ton of cats, the few you meet are fur-midably cute. The controls can be a little clunky at times, nothing hiss-terical, but occasionally enough to make you flex your paws and readjust. Still, the cozy vibes, sweet visuals, and gentle pacing easily make up for the occasional awkward pounce. It’s not the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My only complaint is that I expected this to be a chill and cozy platformer, but the controls were slippery and many parts felt frustrating instead, lol. Glad that a percentage of the game's profits are going to animal welfare associations though!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Those jump are roughly as precise as Trump's financial plan... Art's good though
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really really tedious, not enjoyable gameplay

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah... it feels so bad giving the Purring Quest a "not recommended" review. The game has a well done animation, the cats are cute and the art is nice overall. The intro song touched my soul as well as the main story. Platforming is simple and could be fun and enjoyable IF the controls were not that annoying and slippery. I also didn't get satisfied with some dialogues, story elements and one particular mini game, but i would close my eyes on that if controls were more responsive.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It took me just under 6hrs to finish this game with all achievements, but it feels like much longer. The game was very fun and absorbing, with nice art, cute cats, and a sad storyline. Key bindings can be tricky, but the devs seem to be pretty active on the discussion boards, so you will probably be able to find solutions for most issues you may have. The wierdest thing about this game is that you play as a cat, but you have 7 lives. Not 3, or 5, like usual games, and not 9 like you would…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What i like, + Lots of reference / message about cats. The developer also create article about it on game's guide. + Fairly good level design/gameplay variety What i hate, - Awkward and slippery control with keyboard - Checkpoint sometimes could be far from where you die, it's especially annoying when between checkpoint and place you die have lots of obstacle. I bought this game on 90% discount and know "The Purring Quest" is first game made by the developer. Even so, the control really ruin…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever wanted to be a cat? With this game you get to take on the role of Kimchi the cat and meet famous cats of the internet on a journey to find Kimchi's owner. The Purring Quest is a side scrolling platformer where you collect stinky fish bones through stages, rescue cat friends, find their belongings and defeat bosses. There is a lot of problems with this game, namely the controls are quite bad. It was more easier to complete with a controller though. There is also no way to attack…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea and ending are cute, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. The controls feel off in many respects and the mechanics are sloppy, including some stealth mission aspects. In addition, the backgrounds are a little too busy with them clearing obscuring fish bones that are supposed to be easily visible/in plain sight. The bosses are likely one of the worst things about this game. The first one was okay barring your terrible attack range, but the second is downright janky with…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to love this game. It was cheap, cute, and involves cats. I bought it for a dollar but even at that pricepoint I can't recommend it. I'm not a huge platformer fan to begin with but if there is any game to turn you against platformers it's this one. My goodness, the controls are awful. Believe the other reviews when they say that the controls make the game almost unplayable. There are two modes of jumping: double jump and high jump. Double jump is actually a multiple jump (more than…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The length of the game is short but it's actually really fun. To be honest, finding and setting the caged cats free was easier than collecting all the fishbones for the achievements. The cats that Kimchi met are all well designed and unique. The game is definitely worth it when it's on discount, additionally, some of the profit seems to be going to animal welfare associations.
