neutral · AI labelView post →I got to see it on pretty much its last day showing in the city. It's a shame it's not as big an "event" as The Odyssey, because I think it might've been a way better movie.

neutral · AI labelView post →(Can I be for real tho for a sec? I think visuals were like 9.7/10 but the rest of the story, setting and characters were 6~7 for me… it felt like the Odyssey where I was just looking at pretty scenes and there was no theme the movie wanted to take enough screen time to properly process.)

neutral · AI labelView post →Eurylochus. Odysseus' right hand man. Himesh Patel is my favourite supporting performance in The Odyssey. Universal have put forward Holland, Pattinson & Leguizamo "for your consideration". I'd have included Himesh Patel & Elliot Page. But a perfect film full of perfect performances. We all win! 💯

I guess you can't make bank on a film unless the audience already knows what they're getting.

neutral · AI labelView post →I really do reiterate my initial response to The Odyssey. The book is a boy’s adventure. Nolan’s film is a man reckoning with the same story and seeing it as an adult. It’s so perfect and so profound. God I love it. I’m so happy to read this script
positive · AI labelView post →After just recovering from The Odyssey critical shock, I walk into another highly praised movie I really disliked: Wild Horse 9. I feel like I'm going crazy, reading opinions.
negative · AI labelView post →You know over the last ten years this film has become one of Scorsese’s most influential films. Nolan said it inspired The Odyssey, Denis Villeneuve said it inspired his Dune movies, Robert Eggers also claims it as one of his inspirations. A flop in the 1980s and yet it inspires megahits today.

neutral · AI labelView post →Christopher Nolan's movie production of the Odyssey was inspired by Emily Wilson's translation. I've waited weeks to get it from the library. It's finally in my hands, and I have to tell you this is a damn fine and very readable translation, not the bedtime snooze I thought it might be.

And they don't know how to go with the Odyssey or the Super Mario Bros. movie (either it's "woke" and they hate it, or it's not "woke" and they like it ; sometimes it's both atst).

neutral · AI labelView post →I actually think “300” is his best movie. (More entertaining than Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” too, and minus the cosmic pretension.)
negative · AI labelView post →The Odyssey. The more I think about that movie, the more I hate it. Is it a reasonable hate? Not really probably. But I hate, nonetheless.

positive · AI labelView post →Browsing the #Wildwood tag, I see some comparisons to another fantasy blockbuster, #TheOdyssey. Yeah, in terms of technical filmmaking achievement, I can see that. As a film you actually want to watch, Wildwood wins hands-down. When I saw The Odyssey, I was struck how much closer it was than I expected to an old swashbuckling #Harryhausen yarn; but for me it doesn't quite capture the charm and sense of wonder. Wildwood does; and not just because it's in Harryhausen-style stop motion!
negative · AI labelView post →Holy shit I bet that was pretty nuts. I find it super immersive, but it can get intense! Godzilla sounds are just epic tho, and to be in the room with that had to somethin' else lol! The Odyssey was the loudest movie I've ever watched. Literally felt like I was either in real danger, or dying... 🤣
positive · AI labelView post →“The Odyssey” should be nominated for/win for film editing and cinematography, and possibly for music score.
positive · AI labelView post →I think they'll probably aim to focus voters on Prime Time, but he's good in The Odyssey, just maybe not quite so memorable because he's not carrying the film. I think The Odyssey will get lots of noms, but maybe not in the acting categories; it's a technical marvel.

neutral · AI labelView post →That sounds perfect. The only movies I’ve seen in a movie theater this year released this year were in IMAX. the Odyssey and the oasis movie. So your description of the Godzilla movie sounds like a combination of both.

neutral · AI labelView post →Did anything NOT bomb this year? Seems like every movie I've heard about underperformed except maybe the Odyssey. Is the world just out of theater money?
neutral · AI labelView post →145. The Odyssey Perhaps one of the best adaptations I have seen from book to film. Nolan takes the structure and the best moments from the book and adds in so much new meaning to whether man is able to alter their destiny and gods' role in it. Also connects thematically well to Oppenheimer Stars

neutral · AI labelView post →I love it when people have the “well a lot of people loved it” argument about a movie I hated as if I’m just being a contrarian. My top 2 this year are The Odyssey and Spidey. Deadpool and Wolverine just stunk.
positive · AI labelView post →Finally watched Backrooms, saved it for Halloween and it was the extended version and it blew my mind?? Impressed me even more than The Odyssey and frankly they both have terrifying giants. Top film of 2026 for me but I may be biased because of the name
positive · AI labelView post →I can’t stop thinking about this work and I need to stress. I’m wrestling with my faith in film. But if Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey wasn’t my favorite film of the year and probably decade then I would truly be lost. And it’s all I need and more
positive · AI labelView post →It feels like, with so much streaming, people underestimate the experiential part of the theater. The Odyssey is the only recent film that I recall that really leverages that (unless you count how You Can See Everything explores every pore of Fielder's face).
positive · AI labelView post →Meh. I have to travel 8 hours across the Canadian prairie to get to an IMAX theater. It ain't happening. Don't need it anyway if the movie is good without it. The Odyssey was good without IMAX, so the IMAX call isn't really as strong as the Sirens.
