It slowly gets under my skin every single time and it's hard to shake the feeling of dread it leaves behind. #filmsky #horrorsky #NowWatching
unlabelledView post →Love watching THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES for @chattfilmfest.org and having one of my cats make a loud noise and make me think Mothman was coming through my window. This movie really gets under your skin. Love it. #filmsky #horrorsky #chattfilmfest
unlabelledView post →1. The Mothman Prophecies. An under-appreciated subtle horror movie that a friend once called "existential horror." Asks fascinating questions about seemingly omnipotent beings and is a great study of pain and loss and what we cannot control.
unlabelledView post →I read the better part of Loren Coleman's #Mothman: Evil Incarnate and quite liked it (do you like my bookmark?). It's a personal recounting of the author's involvement with the release of The Mothman Prophecies, the film, and with his meetings with John Keel, author of the original mothman book 1/2

unlabelledView post →Today is the anniversary of the Silver Bridge Collapse, foretold by sightings of Mothman in WV. To commemorate the tradgedy, I will be watching the Mothman Prophecies for the first time this evening. It is also, in theory, a Christmas movie, albeit a terrible one. #mothman #paranormal
unlabelledView post →so the last movie night i had with this group of friends it turned out that everyone had seen the movie except me (it was The Mothman Prophecies and it was a lot of fun) and so for our next movie night, *i* get to pick a movie only i have seen and no one else has, and i feel mad with power
unlabelledView post →30. THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES This one's here because it scares me and freaks me out in a way that virtually no other horror movie does. I watch this and I think of what primitive man felt like after a noise in the dark let him know he wasn't alone. I mean, it FUCKS with me! So, yeah. I love it.
unlabelledView post →So I rewatched The Mothman Prophecies movie, and let me tell y'all, trying to fit this grand John Keel shaped nonsense into The X-Files and The Ring shaped hole does not work whatsoever. It's so dull it's kinda impressive.
unlabelledView post →I remember feeling like The Mothman Prophecies was pretty creepy when I saw in the theater. I don't think I've seen it since, but it might be worth a revisit. www.slashfilm.com/2215051/rich...

I saw The Mothman Prophecies when it came out in 2002, but watched it again recently & saw the story through different eyes. It’s a story about us, the Covid-Conscious. guinesspig.ghost.io/the-mothman-...
unlabelledView post →What? Never saw The Mothman Prophecies (2002) movie starring (cough) Richard Gere because it sounded too bonkers to be ‘true’. But I assumed it was based on something substantial, because… big budget movie. Didn’t realise the ‘legend’ was from 1976, the decade of UFO paperbacks.

unlabelledView post →Watching 'The Mothman Prophecies' - 2002. It's beautifully shot, the acting is impeccable. And I love it because I get to consider the story without bring spoon-fed with explanatory dialogue the way modern #film and #TV do today for people with 30 second attention spans. What a joy to watch.
unlabelledView post →eventually i caught a screening of the Mothman Prophecies movie with Richard Gere that i watched completely in the dark, alone at the age of 10, just to make myself even more scared. it traumatized me away from horror movies for a decaded afterwards
unlabelledView post →Gray Barker was the first to write a book about Mothman in 1970, but John Keel’s The Mothman Prophecies (1975) brought mainstream attention to the story and provided the basis for the movie of the same name. It’s a wild read.
unlabelledView post →I would also guess that The Mothman Prophecies, a movie about an otherworldly being predicting great tragedies, was not helped by being released after 9/11, not having predicted shit.

unlabelledView post →#RecentlyWatched: The Mothman Prophecies (2002) Dir.: Mark Pellington I love this more each time I see it, and feel it is a sadly underrated film. Less about the mythical cryptid and more about sustaining an oppressively dark mood while building up to a real-life disaster. 7/9 #FilmSky #HorrorSky
unlabelledView post →I have read The Mothman Prophecies by John Keel. Obviously the movie is not a 'faithful adaptation', and I'm glad it's not. The movie wouldn't be enjoyable if it was. It's simply inspired by. Richard Gere and Will Patton are amazing. The music is great. And the eeriness holds up.

unlabelledView post →Around Christmas one year at the bookshop, a guy kept asking me if The Mothman Prophecies was “the original book”. I explained that it was not an adaptation based on the movie, and that this was the one and only version of the book. Then he would go “but is it the original book”

Her husband's father worked on the rescue efforts for the bridge
