unlabelledView post →demain suite de la semaine "Moyen âge au cinéma" avec la rediffusion de l'émission sur The Last Duel, le film médiéval passé inaperçu, étonnamment subtil, de Ridley Scott (2021)
unlabelledView post →I know we can talk about The Last Duel (no one watched it but me and @patrickwyman.bsky.social) so I think this is Ridley Scott’s last good film. #HATM
unlabelledView post →Film buffs: I love unreliable narrator novels (eg, Pale Fire). The quintessential example in movies is The Sixth Sense. Others: Rashomon, The Usual Suspects, the woefully underrated The Last Duel. You got others?
unlabelledView post →The Last Duel was the 1st film I went back to theaters to see during covid #AdamDriver it's one of my favorites.
unlabelledView post →Someday when enough time has passed I’ll offer up exactly why the last 15 pages of the script is why Gladiator 2 is not Ridley Scott’s best film in years, that would be The Last Duel. Anyway, great time at the movies I laughed a lot, intentionally. See it for Denzel feasting & Mescal being a hunk.
unlabelledView post →Respect Scott fans who have strong feelings for The Last Duel. I think it’s a fine movie. But I can’t really elevate it when The Duelists exists. He already made the definitive movie about Duels and guys that have them.
unlabelledView post →I started The Last Duel and the color palette of this movie makes it look like it was shot during the winter at the bottom of a haunted well

unlabelledView post →chris is right on a lot of these and also shout out to THE LAST THING HE WANTED, the movie with perhaps my favorite evil ben affleck performance. my man is soooo aloof and chilly in this. tied with his "deny, deny, deny!" screed in THE LAST DUEL
unlabelledView post →Very late to the party, but I've finally seen The Last Duel, Ridley Scott's best film since 2013. A tale of medieval brutality, barbaric practices, and deeply rooted misogyny that still rings true to this day. Very dark but also very powerful, Jodie Comer owns every second she is on screen.
unlabelledView post →Look, I'm not fit to stand in Ridley Scott's shadow. People who say he peaked in the 80s are missing out. The Last Duel was a great, adult film and that was two whole years ago. What he has to say about embracing AI is awful and draining.
unlabelledView post →Ben Affleck and Matt Damon playing their characters in THE LAST DUEL as Boston guys actually helps make the movie work.
unlabelledView post →❤️📽️ #lastfourwatched #letterboxdfriday #letterboxd #films2025 @letterboxd.social - The Last Duel (2021), Paris is Burning (1990), Blow the Man Down (2019), The Fall of the House of Usher (1928)
unlabelledView post →The Last Duel, at his suggestion. (I'm interpreting this as "bad movie for a date," rather than just "bad movie" - I actually thought it was pretty good.)

unlabelledView post →I *love* The Last Duel. I certainly didn't expect to. It's a great movie, full-stop. Adam is.... so icky. Just *so* icky. He's perfect in all three POVs. I will forever be salty that it didn't receive the love it deserved (although I also fully understand why).
unlabelledView post →Tonight's late movie is The Last Duel (2021) 🍿
unlabelledView post →#GladiatorII: how do you top arguably a classic film? You dont..which Ridley Scott knows & in many ways its why Gladiator 2 worked so well for me. He long desired to bring the rhino into the coliseum & this movie delivers on that dream. The fight scenes are brutal & gory similar to The Last Duel. 1/2
unlabelledView post →A few more: -The Last Duel is better than I expected -The Killing Fields is an incredible movie until oh-my-god is that Imagine playing after all that, for fucks sake -if you wanna do a weird little James Caan thing, The Gambler and Thief is a good double feature -Blue Beetle is bad
unlabelledView post →Also I cannot take any of you seriously after the bellyaching about how the actors in The Last Duel, a film which depicted the procedures of the Medieval French judicial system, didn’t “do the accent”. The accent in question being a dead dialect of Middle French.
unlabelledView post →It's weird when Ridley Scott manages to make something good these days because it ends up being The Last Duel, dies a horrible box office death, and then he goes on some Old Man rant about the kids being on their phones when it's clear the movie was destined to be buried straight off the rip.
unlabelledView post →IMO the movie The Last Duel made this point nicely.
unlabelledView post →Have the Historians At The Movies done The Last Duel yet? I didn’t know Ben Affleck and Matt Damon made a movie about 14th Century France. It’s offputting watching them act in full medieval armour and with Shakespearean accents. #HATM
unlabelledView post →Finally feeling mentally prepared to rewatch The Last Duel. Gonna watch it while I'm making gifs. This is probably my 5th rewatch now. I love the movie but sometimes I can't handle noncon stuff so I need to be in the right mindset. #adamdriver #thelastduel
unlabelledView post →Nov 22nd: THE LAST DUEL (Channel 4). If anything gives me faith for GLADIATOR II, it's this, Ridley Scott's best film of the last decade. A notable flop but a terrific tripartite Ben Affleck/Matt Damon/Nicole Holofcener script & great Jodie Comer turn elevate it to something fascinatingly chewy.
unlabelledView post →The Last Duel is my favorite Ben Affleck movie.
unlabelledView post →It seems that replicas of this particular model of glass have also been used as props in the Witcher series and the movie The Last Duel.
unlabelledView post →The basic issue with Ridley Scott is that he only makes a good film every 5-7 years and everything else is garbage (we're due one soon as the last good one was The Last Duel) but damn if he doesn't often still fail with a bit of style.
unlabelledView post →Dariusz Wolski previously served as the director of photography for Prometheus and The Last Duel
unlabelledView post →I have an essay in here about the women in Ridley Scott's three most recent films 📽️, HOUSE OF GUCCI, THE LAST DUEL and NAPOLEON, and what that might mean for GLADIATOR II filmhounds.bigcartel.com
unlabelledView post →speaking of Scott have you seen The Last Duel? Basically a film noir set in the 1300s with one of the few honest depictions of what Knights where like (rich jocks)
unlabelledView post →The man's last well received movie was The Last Duel, admittedly excellent but mostly an Affleck/Damon joint. Before that, the last well received project was The Martian, mostly Weir/Goddard and would've been directed by the latter if Cabin in the Woods hadn't flopped. Ridley, *retire*.

unlabelledView post →NAPOLEON and THE LAST DUEL feel like companion films. This is a good thing.
unlabelledView post →My shifted impression of Ridley Scott into "oh, this man has no commentary here, he's just himself a horrendous misogynist in his old age" was reinforced by watching The Last Duel. A film that *could* have been so good but instead wallowed in taking seriously a "he said/she said" dynamic on rape.
unlabelledView post →I am not an expert, I just took the chance to promote “The Last Duel,” a feminist cri de couer disguised as a knights in armor movie
unlabelledView post →Oh yeah, The Last Duel is his best film since Gladiator imo
unlabelledView post →I know I'm in the minority, but I really liked his Moses movie, and the Last Duel, and Kingdom of Heaven director's is a miscast but otherwise very solid flick, but outside of those he hasn't made anything I've liked since 1991
unlabelledView post →I showed my friend Leafy "The Last Duel" - www.imdb.com/title/tt4244... Still as upsetting and stressful as it was in 2021. Love this movie, and my friend loved it even more. 9/10 #Movie #Review #TheLastDuel

unlabelledView post →I legitimately forgot I still had this sealed! After my rewatch of Gladiator, and my first watch of The Last Duel (a GREAT film), I find myself finally wanting to rewatch another Ridley Scott swords and sandals style epic! I am all open to the idea this is an unofficial trilogy 😅
unlabelledView post →i am still mad The Last Duel was so snubbed. that was a Movie
unlabelledView post →Oh I loved The Last Duel but it’s his only good-to-great movie since The Martian, which would be an unfairly high standard for anyone who didn’t also do Thelma and Louise, Alien, Gladiator and Blade Runner
unlabelledView post →If y’all loved Napoleon you should really watch The Last Duel. Incredibly underrated movie. Book is also fascinating.

unlabelledView post →remember when they marketed The Last Duel as “the medieval rape movie” and somehow that did not resonate with audiences
unlabelledView post →I'd put off watching The Last Duel for ages because the first time, I found the opening scenes and dialogue awkward. Sticking with it last night, it turned out to be better than I expected. It still took a while, mostly 'cause Jodie Comer's character is little more than scenery for the first half.
unlabelledView post →THE DOG STARS is Ridley Scott's best film since THE LAST DUEL. It feels minor key but also understated and hopeful in a way that feels disarmingly reflective about existing in a changed world where trust and community feel foreign.
unlabelledView post →THE LAST DUEL is an interesting movie but I wouldn't call it a good one
unlabelledView post →The Last Duel Is on RTE 2 right now. Mostly filmed in Ireland, during Covid - Remember when Matt Damon was in Ireland bc of lockdown during Covid, thats the movie he was filming! Plus, it also gives a glue to how good he is in - The Odyssey #Speirgorm
unlabelledView post →If you liked Ridley Scott’s THE LAST DUEL, I highly recommend Eric Jager’s nonfiction book of the same name. It’s short and very readable. Also, the movie is not a straightforward adaptation so the book doesn’t feel like you’re just reading a novelization or something.
