60 of 113 · most liked firston the occasion of Robert Redford’s passing I’d like to recommend a movie-ass movie that @jonbois.bsky.social and I talk about roughly once a week: THE LAST CASTLE
unlabelledView post →There was a move in '01 called The Last Castle who's movie poster featured an upside down flag that was actually relevant to the plot and these dorks made a fuss and made the studio change it so I find all this a bit rich.
unlabelledView post →You think the ultimate weekend rewatch movie is Shawshank but it’s actually The Last Castle with Robert Redford, James Gandolfini and Mark Ruffalo
unlabelledView post →We lost a man today that actually contributed great work to American culture. I’d love it if we could just shift to talking about All the Presidents Men or The Natural or The Last Castle. What’s your favorite Robert Redford film? www.nytimes.com/2025/09/16/m...
unlabelledView post →For tonight's sad cake and movie time, I've chosen Escape Plan. I'm pleasantly surprised by it. But I do wonder how much weight was collectively pumped by this cast in the making of the movie. Definitely more than The Last Castle or Shawshank Redemption but way less than the Expendables movies.
unlabelledView post →THE LAST CASTLE is a movie that complicates our relationship to patriotism. Feels like the right movie for right now. Listen to our episode this week featuring friend of the show @jasondashbailey.com! diehardonablank.com
unlabelledView post →I love seeing all the Redford memories and movies clog my timeline. You know which one I have NOT seen? The Last Castle! Not a great movie, to be sure, but a solid prison thriller where Redford's charisma is well-matched by James Gandolfini as a thin-lipped sadist.
unlabelledView post →Watched P STORM (2019) the 7️⃣1️⃣5️⃣th film I've seen with an exploding helicopter. 🚁💥📽️ One of a surprising number of prison movies to feature a chopper fireball. Others include The Last Castle, Half Past Dead 1&2, and - the subject of our next podcast episode - Wedlock.
unlabelledView post →movie subgenre where only one woman ever appears on screen, includes The Last Castle, Crimson Tide, The Hunt for Red October, Cool Hand Luke
unlabelledView post →My favorite Robert Redford movie is The Last Castle. It's a good movie with a strong cast. It deals with foreign concepts such as honor and integrity.
unlabelledView post →robert redford was such a dream. the first movie i ever saw him in was The Last Castle, which i watched obsessively as a teenager. it radicalized me as a prison abolitionist and also gave me a bit of a daddy kink
unlabelledView post →The Last Castle. Great movie. It was a flop at the box office which is unfortunate. His last role is probably his best movie though. youtu.be/R09EnVNGnio?...
unlabelledView post →For the people who were confused during the Warfare discourse about what constitutes military propaganda... The Last Castle is actually a propaganda film.
unlabelledView post →My Top Top Ten Robert Redford movies in no particular order: Three Days of the Condor Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Sneakers Spy Game All the President's Men Captain America: The Winter Soldier The Last Castle Legal Eagles The Electric Horseman The Sting
unlabelledView post →The Last Castle is such an underrated film. Redford vs Gandolfini.
unlabelledView post →#JulyMovieChallenge Day 12 - riot in a movie The Last Castle #filmsky #moviesky
unlabelledView post →Although Redford was indeed in a Marvel film, I love that most of the tributes I've seen so far are highlighting The Sting, The Natural, Three Days of the Condor, Butch Cassidy, Ordinary People, The Last Castle, All the President's Men, and many more classic films.
unlabelledView post →"When I started watching, I was like, ‘Oh, it’s a Dad-fernoon movie.’ No, this is a straight-up geezer-pleaser. It is for the oldest men to sit around and jaw about how you really make a good knot or something." -The Last Castle
unlabelledView post →I'm sorry, but any time someone does the upside down flag thing, all I can think of is the Robert Redford movie "The Last Castle". Just silly silly shit.
unlabelledView post →Actually, RELATED. The Last Castle is a dudes suck movie with one great element, which is not itself great.
unlabelledView post →Unpopular opinion: I think my favorite RR movie is The Last Castle. There.... I said it.
unlabelledView post →Saw The Last Castle not too long ago. Great film. I'm still trying to wrap my head around a world without Robert Redford.

unlabelledView post →Movie with a mediocre plot but absolutely insane performances from Reford, Gandolfini, and Ruffalo: The Last Castle.
unlabelledView post →Hi massive brain fart. The Last Castle was what I was thinking of. Wrong prison movie.
unlabelledView post →"The Last Castle" is not a particularly good movie, but it's worth watching for the ending. Seeing Robert Redford righteously and methodically destroy James Gandolini's corrupt prison is 20 minutes you will not regret. Two acting titans giving 110%. #MovieSky
unlabelledView post →Deterrence was clunky and I need to see it again but it at least provoked thought The Contender belongs up there with the best political dramas of all time And The Last Castle was just flat out doomed opening 5 weeks after 9/11, but it’s a great rebellion movie
unlabelledView post →Random late afternoon flick today is The Last Castle! I've dug it since saw in theater when first released! Such a good film all around! @joshcrewsreally.bsky.social @tonygregori.bsky.social @ramonvillalobos.bsky.social youtu.be/5yOyXG9rheM?...
unlabelledView post →So THE LAST CASTLE was not a commercial success - primarily because it had the misfortune of being released like a month after 9/11. “The first poster for the movie was an upside-down American flag on fire,” Lurie told me. “The trailer had two towers on fire with Redford in between them..."
unlabelledView post →dude I just watched The Last Castle recently where he plays like the opposite kind of person as Tony, love that movie
unlabelledView post →The Last Castle. Good movie.
unlabelledView post →junofilm.blogspot.com/2026/09/the-... #filmsky "The Last Castle" (2001): Too much of an homage to patriotic America, but James Gandolfino is brilliant.

unlabelledView post →I used to go regularly to a “mystery movie” about 25 years ago. Movies we saw included Crossroads, The Ring, Daredevil, Hart’s War, The Last Castle, and Steven Seagal’s Half-Past Dead (we left that one). Bit of a random mix but all fairly generic as it was at a ”normal” cinema.

unlabelledView post →RIP. It's hard to name a favorite Robert Redford movie, but The Last Castle has always been one of mine.
unlabelledView post →I watched The Last Castle a little while back. Not a great film, but it had James Gandolfini in fine form as a petulant antagonist and was generally enjoyable. My main takeaway from it though, was just how naturally magnetic and cool Robert Redford was as the lead. He was part of a dying breed.
unlabelledView post →Robert Renford best film is The Last Castle and Captain America The Winter Soldier
unlabelledView post →Its not a great movie, but THE LAST CASTLE is one i always end up watching when it pops up

unlabelledView post →We are going to talk about masterpiece The Last Castle on here and frankly I think that’s a nice reprieve. the premise and setting of the film is an amazing platform for clearly laying out circumstances of injustice and power, it’s an ingenious artistic device
unlabelledView post →The Last Castle was the last movie my late mom and I watched of his movies. We had to watch 'The Sting' right after. We both loved him so much. We used to do marathons (on VHS and DVD) - Mom gave me my love of cinema. 🥰
