It started as a project part of 'Unreal Fellowship' program by Epic Games, with only 3 weeks deadline! The dev is planning to make this a full-fledged game!

unlabelledView post →The Last Blade 2 came to Dreamcast 24 years ago (8/7/01) Needing no introduction, TLB2 is one of SNK's finest games, and a seminal Fighting-Game, in general - featuring technical footsie-based gameplay, and 2 Grooves; the console port adds a 3rd Groove, plus an unlockable Hanafuda Card minigame!
unlabelledView post →I'm not sure what it says about my brain that the two fighting games I've played so far where I don't feel *completely* useless (just, like, 60% useless) are Soul Calibur, and now The Last Blade. Maybe the more deliberate pace and weapons focus. Idk.

I tell folks that Legends is the only consistently good Mega Man subseries lol I love the gameplay and vibes of those games As for SamSho, I think The Last Blade is the better samurai fighting game but I think V Special and VI are fun!

Spent all my quarters playing Super Sidekicks, The Last Blade 2, Samurai Showdown II, & Metal Slug. @3mill.bsky.social helped me customize a broken one when he was younger. unlabelledView post →Putting my chips on The Last Blade. I feel like its a game where if you just frankly discuss what these games are (even if you're not a hater about it) it will kind of break the illusion some people have in their heads.
unlabelledView post →The Last Blade is a 2D weapon fighting game that takes place during the Bakumatsu era. In addition to being able to deflect attacks, players can also select between Speed and Power types for the game's character roster, enabling different combo opportunities.
unlabelledView post →Okay, I think this is finally ready to go. I'm still working on additional things to add (like the drama CD), but here's my retranslation of ALL in-game text in The Last Blade. Please have a look and let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary.
unlabelledView post →76. The Last Blade 2 Currently my favorite SNK fighting game, this one did extremely well with my friend group, second only to 3rd Strike! Stunningly gorgeous and mechanically deep, yet also easy to grasp even if you're new. The high damage, parry option, and large hitboxes make every match tense!

It's a decent alternative to Samurai Shodown and The Last Blade and quite underrated. You can both brawl empty hand & use weapons. #gaming #videogames
unlabelledView post →I adore The Last Blade series 😻 It doesn't need a remake or a new game or anything like that. Just those two on the Neo Geo, and the NGPC version are perfect little games that will remain all time classics <3
unlabelledView post →Game: The Last Blade Kaede defeats Shikyoh Kaede: "こっちの話を聞こうとしないからだ" The official English is "I'm not interested in this conversation." Most of this game ain't that bad, but wow. Should be something like "This happened because you wouldn't listen to me." Ah, 90s SNK. Such dweebenheimers.

unlabelledView post →Well here’s my first @ you. Thank you for the incredible blog series! I found it through your post on The Last Blade NGPC which I was researching at the time. Such a cool game!
unlabelledView post →Love The Last Blade, especially 2! Closest I’ve come to wanting to master a fighting game
unlabelledView post →This is why Samurai Shodown is still the game that clicks hardest for me. I don't really think games ever needed to be more combo-centric than KOF98 or The Last Blade (Power mode, specifically).
unlabelledView post →For like five years I thought Daisuke Ishiwatari had to have something to do with The Last Blade 2 (no connection AFAICT) just because The Last Blade 2 feels to me just like what an Arc System Works game would if it was made by SNK. I am too casual to tell you why that is, but it does.

unlabelledView post →Same. I had a friend in martial arts who explained that this was actually a far more realistic samurai fighting game than Samurai Shodown or The Last Blade and to give it another chance. Once I understood that, I liked it. I also got interested in the Way of the Samurai games for the same reason!

Ninja Master's (1996) This Neo Geo fighter stands apart from Samurai Shodown and The Last Blade by allowing players to switch between empty hand and weapons-based attacks. It's a good-looking game, too, and definitely one of ADK's best.

unlabelledView post →Ah, please excuse the audio in the video. 💦 That was some work music from a game called The Last Blade II. A wonderful SNK title; you should play it.
unlabelledView post →THE LAST BLADE 2 is on sale on Steam, and I bought it! It’s gotta be one of the all-time peaks of retro fighting game pixel art, right🥰
unlabelledView post →I'll gladly define the slow frame rate of the first Metal Slug as "cinematic", but Metal Slug 2 might be in "feels busted" territory. Hey, at least The Last Blade 2 still feels like one of the best weapon fighters of all time. LET'S RANK (almost) EVERY NEO GEO GAME (Part 4) youtu.be/hCYtpVcWmzc

unlabelledView post →I was going to get upset because of Neo Turf Masters (top five game of all time) but then I remembered that Nazca made that before they were a part of SNK. The Last Blade is fun tho. I'd say SNK's best work was actually on the NGPC

unlabelledView post →The Last Blade 2 another fighting game I forgot to put here while I was actually playing it, and it's not bad I guess, the mechanics are neat but I just wasn't really taken by the roster and was under the weather when I was giving it a try so maybe I'll give it another go in the future
unlabelledView post →The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny I can only say "Cute novelty conversion of [game]" so many times. The effort is commendable at least.
unlabelledView post →The Last Blade 2 Maybe the most underrated fighting game in my opinion. Would love to spend more time on it. Genuinely feels fantastic to play (and again the presentation is amazing cannot understate that). Please play this game it's so fucking good.
unlabelledView post →The Last Blade This game and it's sequel may honestly be some of the best games for the "video games as art" argument, the presentation is phenomenal in both of these games. Shoutouts to the lava stage. Moriya is also the hardest I've clicked with a new FG character in a while. Love this game.
unlabelledView post →37. The Last Blade 2. After playing CVS2 and falling in love with Hibiki, I decided to try the series she came from. Specifically, I played the Dreamcast port of Last Blade 2, and I have to say this game rules. Great sprite art, interesting mechanics, and Hibiki is once again super cool to play as.
unlabelledView post →Looking more into things, and I would've expected for DP to be Swery's maybe second game or so, and from some angles, it is. But this dude actually did design on fucking Kizuna Encounter and The Last Blade 1-2, that's insane.
unlabelledView post →Today is the 27 year anniversary of The Last Blade 2 Released November 25, 1998 on arcades in Japan! Not a well known game but in my opinion a very solid fighting game. My first time playing it was on the Vita, I wish for a newer LB game.
unlabelledView post →Game #27: The Last Blade 2 (Neo Geo) (Played on Switch) I beat this right at the end of May. That's how far behind I am here. Cool game and better than the original.
unlabelledView post →Game #18: The Last Blade (Neo Geo) (Played on Switch) Was not expecting to like this as much as I did. This felt quite cinematic for a 90s fighter, and if I liked this as much as I did, I can't wait to see how the second game is like.
unlabelledView post →The few game genres where BGM is absolutely essential are Shmups, JRPGs, and arcade racers. I would have said fighting games too, but The Last Blade 2 is making me hold their beer.
unlabelledView post →I played The Last Blade for the first time a couple nights ago. I was super impressed with the sprite work and animated intro. Def check this game out it’s a hidden SNK gem.
