unlabelledView post →Slo-mo in the Judge Dredd movie is such a dope way to justify cool shots but in no way would a drug that slows down time ever become that popular. I can't think of any drug addict that'd come off of a dose like "Oh only 5mins of my awful life passed by? But it felt like an hour? Sick"

That led to him assisting Stanley Kubrick, directing music videos for Bjork, Madonna & Aphex Twin, working with Grace Jones & Gil-Scott Heron!

unlabelledView post →Third film goes off the rails cause they tried to do the Judge Death thing and it feels a bit too Marvel-chasing. Second film gets overlooked cause it cops Fury Road for a semi-Cursed Earth kinda vibe that ends up being sick as hell. Missing the tightness of the first but landing the expansiveness
unlabelledView post →This is true. I've seen the Judge Dredd movie multiple times and also sometimes I have it on while I work.
unlabelledView post →The Judge Dredd movie starring Sly Stallone. All of it. "I never broke the law! I AM the law!"
unlabelledView post →Exactly. The world needs a Dredd v Death multi-movie arc showdown. And don't get me started on the Judge Anderson TV series.

unlabelledView post →I sent that to my wife and I think she came up with the appropriate response for the Judge in this case. Quote: Are you fucking serious?? The judge should film themselves setting it on fire while saying "try again" and send that as a response.
unlabelledView post →Jeffrey Combs is great in everything, but he really did something special in "The Frighteners". The film overall is so good and has so many great actors doing great work. Shout out as well to John Astin's scene-stealing performance as "The Judge"

unlabelledView post →It's wild really, the Judge Dredd film isn't as bad as its reputation (it's quite fun on its own terms), but Robocop and Demolition Man (with the same lead!) get the satirical tone of 2000AD so much more and show it could have been done perfectly at the time.

unlabelledView post →Okay, thanks to @chrismcfeely.bsky.social's Quint Basics, here's CONSISTENT screen caps of the Judge faces in the Movie, with ER toy again for comparison:
unlabelledView post →The Dredd movie is simple but it remembers to include 2000 AD's satire. Joe is the most loyal soldier of the Judge system and fervently propping it up but the system itself is irredeemable. The corrupt judges, only 5% crime response, and Anderson recognizing not all criminals are monsters show this.
unlabelledView post →Agreed! If folks think about it, when cameras ARE allowed in the courtroom, the cameras are REQUIRED to be stationary to a single vantage point. They are NEVER ALLOWED TO FILM OR PHOTOGRAPH THE JURY. These glasses are NOT stationary & the Judge has no way of restricting what they view. Ban them!

unlabelledView post →The Judge (2014). A film that's very middle of the road. I felt like it could definitely be more. The cast is full of stars (Robert Downey Jr, Robert Duvall, Denis O'Hare, Vera Farmiga, Jeremy Strong) but they're not used to their fullest. It's good, just not great #ReelRank #FilmSky

unlabelledView post →Here we are then: CITY OF THE DAMNED, a very big deal, paying off subplots going back to The Judge Child Saga, and it gets off to a grand start, drawn by Steve Dillon and a breathtaking centerspread movie poster. Look at that. Dillon is The Man through all of this, and really sets a dark tone.

unlabelledView post →At the Judge Dredd movie in '95 we all got these nice promos. It was at the now demolished Odeon Marble Arch, which had the then biggest non IMAX screen in the UK. It was a rude awakening after the hype, but it still successfully delivered a lot that the recent Dredd film doesn't. #DayofDredd
