The Iron Claw
The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports. From TMDB

negative · AI labelView post →I just randomly thought about how funny it was when “The Iron Claw” came out and non wrestling people went to see a fun film and they all came out crying and then were told they took MORE deaths out because it was already so depressing.
neutral · AI labelView post →I keep thinking about that great movie The Iron Claw and how lifechanging that must have been to guys who watch like 3 movies a year. Serb talked about it for like a month.
positive · AI labelView post →Now that they have made The Iron Claw I’m gonna need A24 to make a nice expensive good movie about Bret Hart and the Hart family. I’ll even throw my hat in the ring to play Anvil
neutral · AI labelView post →Same energy as people thinking The Iron Claw was a “wrestling movie”
neutral · AI labelView post →The Iron Claw is a 2023 biographical sports drama film written and directed by Sean Durkin about the Von Grinchs, a family of professional wrestlers who are "cursed" by tragedy.
neutral · AI labelView post →Thursday movie: The Iron Claw (2023) ****
positive · AI labelView post →Remember the early days of YouTube when folks would make those fake trailers to make like, AUDITION look like a romcom? Anyway I just saw an ad on tv selling THE IRON CLAW as an uplifting family film perfect for the holiday season

positive · AI labelView post →All that chest-beating, rah-rah-rah, “win at all costs” sports baloney gets skewered in the excellent The Iron Claw, featuring a head-turning performance from Zac Efron. Here's my review
positive · AI labelView post →Tonight I returned to a White Bear Lake theater for the first time in 28 years for WAKE UP DEAD MAN. Last film there prior? STRANGE DAYS. This beats my previous record of 24 years between THE PHANTOM MENACE and THE IRON CLAW at Eagan. In answer to your next question: Not CLINICALLY diagnosed, no.
neutral · AI labelView post →My 2024 in film. (* denotes a rewatch.) New films I most enjoyed, in chrological order: Birdman, The Holdovers, The Iron Claw, Some Kind of Heaven, Megalopolis, Challengers, and Godzilla Minus One. What were your favorites?
positive · AI labelView post →it still baffles me how underrepresented pro wrestling is in film, TV, and especially anime it’s this widely popular sport with such a unique behind-the-scenes dynamic. The Wrestler & The Iron Claw alone are two of the most emotional movies I’ve ever seen. we need more wrestling stories!
positive · AI labelView post →THE IRON CLAW is such a damn good movie. Give me more tragedies!
positive · AI labelView post →I saw The Iron Claw two nights in a row. I love this movie—a beautiful examination of masculinity, grief, and the absence of grief—with my whole heart.
positive · AI labelView post →I cannot think of a movie better suited for Why Are Dads era @youaregood.bsky.social than The Iron Claw. What a beautiful, breathtaking film.
positive · AI labelView post →The Iron Claw is a movie about a cult but the cult just happens to be a biological family.
neutral · AI labelView post →Me: oh cool The Iron Claw is streaming James: what’s that Me, someone who’s talked to him about this movie at length AND we watched a documentary about the Von Erichs together: for the love of god
neutral · AI labelView post →More audience than movie. I loved an early screening of The Iron Claw, but there was a projection issue at the end. Some people were asked by a studio person what they thought of the film and they complained. She asked, "And if the problem hadn't happened?" and they said "BUT IT DID!" over and over.

positive · AI labelView post →Even though The Iron Claw had Zac Efren’s best performance to date, it was a fucking nightmare. Saddest movie I’ve seen in a long time. Can you tell I’d been bawling for an hour?
negative · AI labelView post →World's collide as #WWE legend #JohnCena shakes hands with #AEW World Champion #MJF on the carpet of The Iron Claw movie premiere.
neutral · AI labelView post →I *just* realized same kid who played Kerry Von Erich in The Iron Claw is playing Springsteen in this Nebraska movie, like he's catering specifically to my interests So next either he'll play a trans girl and fuck it all up or he'll be MCU Cyclops, I think that's the ends of the spectrum here
neutral · AI labelView post →Mom was shocked to learn everyone in The Iron Claw was a real person and the events of the movie are, if anything, slightly less dire than reality I told her "Fritz Von Erich was a legitimate monster, and if there's a hell, he's in it" 🤼
neutral · AI labelView post →It's reviews day at THE REVEAL. Read me on ALL OF US STRANGERS and @scotttobias.bsky.social on THE IRON CLAW:
neutral · AI labelView post →The Iron Claw looks great. Amazing cast. Also apparently MJF is in the movie! Pretty excited to see this overall. 🤼
positive · AI labelView post →Decided I’m not sad enough, so it’s time for a rewatch of The Iron Claw (2023). This would be a perfect movie if it wasn’t for the fucking wigs. Where are the great wig makers of Hollywood? 📽️
neutral · AI labelView post →The Wrestling Movie that BROKE ME (first time watching The Iron Claw) youtu.be/ppXwCTLXg8A?...
neutral · AI labelView post →The Iron Claw deserved better treatment during award season. Sorry, just thinking about the sad wrestling movie again.
positive · AI labelView post →I expended 2,500 words on The Iron Claw, and didn't even mention the "Tom Sawyer" montage, my favorite sequence in the film (largely because it's the one filled with the most joy in process). Opens at the Uptown on Thurs, 12/21; wide on 12/22. @seattlecritics.bsky.social More: tinyurl.com/47f2eczz

unlabelledView post →124. The Iron Claw The performances in this movie are phenomenal and the pacing is incredible. Just when you think you're on solid ground you WILL have the rug pulled out from under you and your stomach will DROP and you'll just feel despair.

unlabelledView post →If you want to cry, watch The Iron Claw. #filmsky 🎥🎬
unlabelledView post →The Iron Claw: Zac Efron heads up a strong cast in this telling of the Von Erich curse, conveyed as a tragedy of toxic masculinity and patriarchal pressure (Holt McCallany is terrific) that is so devastatingly sad it almost struggles to fit it in. Possibly the best film made about wrestling to date?

The Iron Claw was an experience I wasn’t expecting. Beautiful performances led this to be one of my favorites in this end of the year rush.

unlabelledView post →Just watched "The Iron Claw". The scene I'd heard about, the heartaching one? Truly well done, not a heart string left unplucked. Put this film up there with Aronofsky's The Wrestler. 🤼♂️
unlabelledView post →In the Venn diagram of “film critic” and “wrestling fan,” there is literally only one person on the planet I’d want to write about the Von Erichs, and kudos to TIME for getting her. Great piece! You should read Sarah’s review even if you don’t want to see The Iron Claw. (I don’t think I do.)
unlabelledView post →They were cursed in SO MANY WAYS. I refuse to watch the movie (The Iron Claw) because it's a guaranteed bummer.
unlabelledView post →****SPOILERS The Iron Claw**** Just watched this patriarchy-critical film & enjoyed it. I felt that a movie with a plot so unlikely that ended up so watchable is testament to the entire crew/cast. But turns out it's a real story & they left out the death of another brother entirely? WTAF?

unlabelledView post →Today's film was The Iron Claw (2023). A stock standard biopic that goes precisely how you know it'll go at every step. And like a standard biopic, if you know the real story, it's frustrating what they cut to make it more palatable. The story of the Von Erich family is so much more tragic.
unlabelledView post →One film that I think is a good corrective to this is 'The Iron Claw' which showcases how toxic masculinity hurts men as well. It's also a strikingly empathetic well acted movie based on true events. Really well worth your time.
unlabelledView post →The Iron Claw (2023) A heartfelt family film about a mysterious curse threatening a generation of wrestlers, featuring High School Musical hearthrob Zac Efron, and from the producer who brought us Billy Elliot (2000)
unlabelledView post →13. The Iron Claw I'm relatively easy to make cry and this movie nearly killed me at points. It's just this incredibly emotional tale that's told almost perfectly. Something that's bittersweet and beautiful.
