She made a point of calling it "The Wall", and when Damon corrected her with "The Great Wall", she remarked that there was nothing great about it.

Co-directed by Tezuka, the film dramatized his meeting with Wan Laiming as taking place on the Great Wall. Hilariously, Wan looks like he got isekai'd from a different movie.

In a way, it reminded me of BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, where the movie's focused on *this* character, but the truth is he's just the real hero's sidekick.

positive · AI labelView post →I managed to infuriate both of my kids by sending the younger off on a trip with a camera inadvertently still loaded with film from the older one's Prom. Every print was a double exposure - teens in glam outfits juxtaposed with the Great Wall of China
neutral · AI labelView post →🎉 THE GREAT WALL turns 8-years old today Matt Damon shares a funny story about what his daughter calls the movie – youtube.com/shorts/sl78Z...
neutral · AI labelView post →I keep forgetting this one existed. "What if Temu Skullcrawlers threw themselves at the Great Wall of China like Attack on Titan, and also Matt Damon and is there" is such a bizarre premise for a movie and it had no right being as lame as it was. ...still better than Age of Extinction though.
negative · AI labelView post →In the original draft, the film opened with a motorbike chase scene along the Great Wall of China. It was scrapped when the Chinese government refused to grant permission to film there. Similarly, an airplane chase was cut from the script due to budget limitations. 19/50
neutral · AI labelView post →lol I just learned that Tony Gilroy had a hand in “The Great Wall,” you know that turd of a monster movie directed by Zhang Yimou that starred Matt Damon and Pedro Pascal?
negative · AI labelView post →Also it’s an incredibly minor issue relative to the whole mess that is Temple of Doom but it still peeves me when the film shows Indy’s plane flying over the Great Wall of China while the superimposed map depicts that they’re flying over *southern* China.

neutral · AI labelView post →True story: I was on the Great Wall of China and there was a film crew there. I asked them what they were working on. "America Unearthed," they said. On the Great Wall. Of China. It ran on the History Channel.

Produced by Daiei, Buddha 釈迦 is the first Japanese movie projected/produced in 70mm, using the Super Technirama 70 technology. As far as I know... /1
neutral · AI labelView post →Good luck making another historically accurate film about the Great Wall of China without Matt Damon!
neutral · AI labelView post →Watching the 2016 film The Great Wall, which features Chinese actor Andy Lau from 2002’s Infernal Affairs, and American actor Matt Damon, who plays (essentially) the same character in 2006’s Hollywood adaptation of 2002’s Infernal Affairs, 2006’s The Departed (2006)

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm so glad you said The Great Wall because that was literally the first one I could think of but couldn't remember any of the Proper Nouns in that movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Great Wall (2016) counts, I think, as a movie about bringing Matt Damon home

neutral · AI labelView post →Brad Pitt still owes me a written apology for that travesty of a film. It'd be so fucking good as a TV series. Especially if it ties in some of the cut stories from it like the Great Wall of China one and the "Closure, Inc." one
neutral · AI labelView post →Here are a few more great movie monsters I discovered over the past few years & documented in the movie section my junk movie journal - from Tao Tei & Grievers (in The Great Wall/Maze Runner) to Calvin & the Postehki demon (Life/The Old Ways). I wonder what creatures await discovery this year? 🥰

unlabelledView post →Same brother. - Hollywood casting David Carradine as a Chinese man in “King Fu” when Bruce Lee proposed the show. - Disney making a film about the Great Wall of China and not casting an Asian man as the lead. - George Clooney in “The Descendants” (How about The Rock?) - Whites as Hispanics.

Having ADHD i struggle to pay attention to films but i randomly put on The Great Wall last night to doom scroll too but ended up being hooked to it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=avF6...

unlabelledView post →The 2nd Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider film, The Cradle Of Life... supposed to be the Great Wall Of China, but filmed in a quarry in North Wales and in some areas in the mountains just above Barmouth. It looks it, too!
unlabelledView post →I love the work of Zhang Yimou and I was very excited to see him tackle a different kind of fantasy story with The Great Wall. Sadly the film is not my favourite, but I think about this incredible funeral scene often. youtu.be/u1warfdPpsE?...

unlabelledView post →So I decided to watch THE GREAT WALL (2016)... and that is definitely a lot of money going to a trio of Western actors. The over-the-top Chinese designs/actions make it feel like a very expensive Bollywood film set in a world where the Silk Routes were never invented.
unlabelledView post →My last 4 films watched. As I stated in my review for The Great Wall, Why was this movie made? Godawful! #Letterboxd
unlabelledView post →Watching 'The Great Wall' and 'Chinese movie made to appeal to westerners' is such a vibe
unlabelledView post →Last night I watched Matt Damon's movie The Great Wall on Netflix, and actually enjoyed it enough that I wish it were a film franchise. I liked how all the weapons and violence were directed at dangerous green monsters instead of other people.
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching The Great Wall (2017). Interesting movie. Not much on story, but it's certainly pretty to look at. #movies
unlabelledView post →I'm not here to play the "this movie is good, actually" game because THE GREAT WALL is legit great, and I'm not sorry I said it
unlabelledView post →So, while another "foreign" film gets a thick layer of white-wash, I can't help but think of a decade back when, in the middle of being scolded for making THE GREAT WALL with Western leads, Zhang Yimou quietly pointed out the increasingly scant distribution of his films in English-speaking markets.
unlabelledView post →I don't think it's a bad movie, but it's not my favorite Zhang Yimou film. That's going to have to be Shadow which is the movie he did AFTER The Great Wall.
unlabelledView post →Hot take. I enjoyed the movie The Great Wall with Matt Damon 🙂
unlabelledView post →Name your fav film shot in China. HARD BOILED (1992) when I’ve had some beers: THE GREAT WALL
unlabelledView post →I saw an interview with Damon once where he joked about his daughter keeping him humble and she kept saying "My dad was in The Wall" and he was like "Honey it's called The Great Wall" and she just stared him down and said "Dad, nothing was great about that movie" lol He seems a chill guy
unlabelledView post →Damon has a nice story about how his oldest daughter always referred to this movie as The Wall and when he finally corrected her that it was called The Great Wall she dropped "dad there is nothing great about that movie" kid roasts burn the hottest
unlabelledView post →As for The Great Wall, [Graham Chapman voice] it is a silly movie. (Also starring: Willem Dafoe, Pedro Pascal!)
unlabelledView post →I like the movie he starred in called: The Great Wall. Really great movie....... A MUST Watch. 🥰 .
unlabelledView post →Watching the 2016 movie – starring Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal, and Willam Defoe – The Great Wall, and woof. It's very not good.
unlabelledView post →It’s worth watching The Great Wall for Matt Damon’s accent alone. He worked with a dialogue coach to invent something novel and internally consistent from scratch and I was impressed that someone would do something so interesting and creative for such a terrible movie.
unlabelledView post →Maybe he would've beat Nuclear Man more easily if he had FOUR FISTS... And I still curse this movie out(#4) when they did that shitty effect with the Great Wall restack
unlabelledView post →Once again thinking about how The Great Wall got screwed by its marketing, which made it look like serious white savior epic shit instead of a fun monster movie that just happened to have Matt Damon in it
