unlabelledView post →In 2008 there was a movie called "The Forbidden Kingdom" starring Jet Li and Jackie Chan. It was about a white kid from Boston who gets transported to a Wuxia fantasy story during a robbery gone wrong and ends up becoming the chosen one. Jet Li doubles as Sun Wukong. It's wild and incoherent.

It's one of those sci-fi or fantasy based films, in which a kid or younger person is cast as a hero or cohort, that just appeals to me, much like: #EndersGame (2013) #TheLastAirBender (2011) #SorcerersApprentice (2010) #BulletProofMonk (2003) #TheForbiddenKingdom (2008) None of which are great movies from a film making POV but are movies that I find very entertaining nonetheless.

unlabelledView post →...it to determine whether or not this kid was on Nickelodeon or in a movie called 'The Forbidden Kingdom' is not something I care to do nowadays. It's the kind of sleight-of-hand nonsense designed to be a time suck & that wastes time which is the whole point." /2

unlabelledView post →The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) was an Event. Jet Li and Jackie Chan were so prominent and popular, but they never had a movie together. Until then. It was Superman vs Batman, Captain America vs Iron Man levels of hype. Jet Li also got to play legendary Monkey King. Masterpiece.
