The Exorcism of Emily Rose
When a young girl called Emily Rose dies, everyone puts blame on the exorcism which was performed on her by Father Moore prior to her death. The priest is arrested on suspicion of murder. The trial begins with lawyer Erin Bruner representing Moore, but it is not going to be easy, as no one wants to believe what Father Moore says is true. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE (2005) is one of the best possession films ever made. The fact that Jennifer Carpenter contorted her body the way she did is amazing. Carpenter and Laura Linney both deserved awards attention for their performances. This movie scares me. 🎥 #filmsky #horrorsky#NowWatching
unlabelledView post →A big happy 20th birthday to the Exorcism of Emily Rose, which hit theaters today in 2005! The mix of supernatural horror and legal drama was the breakout film for director Scott Derrickson of Sinister and The Black Phone fame. #Filmsky #ExorcismOfEmilyRose #Horrorsky

unlabelledView post →Most people would probably say their favorite exorcism horror is The Exorcist, because it's a classic and basically started the genre. For me though, it's The Exorcism of Emily Rose. I like the way it treads the line between skepticism and belief, because of how the movie is framed,

unlabelledView post →Reading a Wall Street Journal piece about The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Really wishy-washy and bad article in general, but the worst part is where they say Scott Derrickson has "directed several previous horror movies, including Hellraiser 5." He had directed ONE previous horror movie: Hellraiser 5.
unlabelledView post →Scott Derrickson has some interesting things to say, but among my problems with this quote: It's not true. The Exorcism of Emily Rose was an *extremely*. political film. (And a very problematic one.)

unlabelledView post →Very much so. Mostly psychological horror and ghost/demon/zombie type shit. The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, As Above So Below, Primal Fear, Se7en, The Resident Evil movies, etc. I don’t really care for traditional slashers. Except Scream 1, 5, and especially Scream 6. But yes, I love a good scary movie.

unlabelledView post →#DendensMovieDen. No. 76. The Exorcism of Emily Rose. I grew up watching quite a lot of courtroom dramas on television, as they made up a large part of the weekly drama movies on Dutch television. I’m a sucker for them now. But as with any movie genre, (1/10)

unlabelledView post →Yeah it's not bad, but very slow burn. You might be looking for The Exorcism of Emily Rose, which is about a girl who dies during an "exorcism" and the film follows the court case against the priest, arguing whether or not she was really possessed. Can't remember if the film treats it as real though

unlabelledView post →The most screaming I ever heard in the theater, was during the Exorcism of Emily Rose. I don’t even remember the exact scene, I just remember I ended up focusing on the audience more than the movie because there was like five rows of kids in the front that narrated pretty much every scare scene 💗
unlabelledView post →The second is a German film called Requiem. Both this and The Exorcism of Emily Rose are based on the same real-world story of Anneliese Michel, a mentally ill girl who died of malnutrition after being subjected to 67 'exorcisms' after her parents and priest mistook her illness for possession.
unlabelledView post →Ohhh, I didn't know that about the differences in the book & movie. That sounds so much scarier! This reminds me of the movie, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, which was loosely based on a real case. It was more of a horror-legal drama, bc it dealt w/ negligent homicide & mental health.

And I can't show my wife The Exorcism of Emily Rose after watching the new Exorcist, oops, I mean the new Mummy movie.
unlabelledView post →There's a good exception, the German film, Requiem. This is based on the same "case" as The Exorcism of Emily Rose but is not about demonic possession, rather it is about a woman with severe epilepsy, compounded by mad religious parents who consider exorcism the appropriate treatment.
