The Corporate Machine
Developer Stardock Entertainment
The Corporate Machine (known in Europe as Business Tycoon) is a business simulation computer game from Stardock in which the goal is to create a corporation in one of four industries (automobiles, aircraft, computers, or soft drinks) and eventually dominate rival companies. To win the player must dominate the chosen market (getting 55% to 65% of the market share depending on the number of opponents). The Corporate… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

60 of 72 · most liked firstdecent game, but a bit overpriced. i played one game to completion and found that theres not enough going on for the $10. id wait to pick this up on sale for around $5-7.00 unless you really like these type of game, i personally expected a bit more,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Corporate Machine is actually very interesting and well-done. Although the graphics are a little outdated, this game is great. Especially in 2001, if you were making a strategy game, it HAD to be based off war. But this one is like Risk, and still, instead of using your armies to conquer the world, you use competitvley low prices and monopolies to do so. One problem I have with the game is that there is no real in-game tutorial, like modt other PC games of the time. However, there is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think the mechanics arent working to be honest. So I decided to build the company store then upgrade it to the company mall where it promises that I will be able to cut costs of my employees by 15% each level. However, when I proceed to do it. nothing happens. My costs still remains the same. manufacturing costs and the rest are the same. is this game broken? And when i'm playing in the normal mode it seems that even if I had the 'researcher' specialised field, i'm always being overtaken.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first thing I need to say is READ THE MANUAL! If you're like me and tend to play a casual game or two to get the hang of things it's very easy to have no idea what you are doing and lose the game. A quick skiim of the manual will give you an idea of what is what and how the game runs. I very nearly wrote a bad review after my first game after giving up in just five minutes, I hadn't read the manual and had no clue what I was doing. The graphics and sound options on the game are not great,…

There's a small learning curve once you start a new game but as soon as you figure it out the game quickly becomes quite addicting and you'll likely find yourself sitting for hours trying to grow your operations to take over the world. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game. A very good waste of time. Kind of wish there were more options available, but oh well. Got it for $3.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is ok, but it lacks in any sort of guide to help new players out but is fairly simple in its gameplay. after playing a little bit i have to say i am slightly dissapointed with the game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some crashes and bugs. Really no excuse for a game that's been around this long - I would expect this from sandbox / pre-release. Got it for $5 - totally worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the idea of the game, but it just keeps on crashing for me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The devs forgot to update the game for modern systems. Still thumbs up since it was a good at game sometime
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've read that some people have issues getting this to run on Windows 10, but I got zero issues. Using Windows 10 Pro x64 it started without problems right out of the box after downloading, and without any glitches or issues I played my first game in ages (the last time I played this game it was on a Pentium II most likely). Its just as good as I remember it, and you still have to build a competitive business in a new market from the ground up. The research that is required to stay on the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. If you like Game Dev Tycoon, you will probably like this too. Unfortunately, it freezes up often which is annoying. If you can deal with that, you will have a good time playing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Back then, it was a very good game. Now, in 2019, TCM is barely playable. It cannot run in a window, it doesn't run smooth, it almost crashed my OS (windows 10). A good game, that feels much better just in our memories.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy, pixelly and not something I'd do for fun. I got it from a humble bundle but I wouldn't buy it seperately.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to love this game when i had it as a demo as a kid, but i really regret buying it now. The game randomly stops working after a period ingame so you play russian roulette with crashes to even be able to play it the game is a solid 7/10 the delivery though is a 2/10 definitly not worth the money in its current format
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this off of a Humble Bundle. I can't imagine someone actually buying this at full price (9.99 atm). It's a fun game once you learn what everything means. The UI has no rollover text so it doesn't really explain things fully. It looks dated, even for a game that supposedly came out in 2001 (it is on par with the original Civilization, if you guys were fortunate enough to play that). And no, there is no play-in-window mode. You could get used to the quirks, but the real problem is the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a business simulator, it does very very well educationally. As a video game, its mediocre at best with so many demographics and color schemes that you'll more than likely will need glasses or go blind when you're done playing it. It has its moments where I have fun with the silly names and overall domination factor when you completely make your product a standard on just one continent let alone the whole world. I bought this on sale @ 3.29 USD and worth its price. 9.99 USD is a bit much for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →surprisingly complex game with an easy interface. Great AI and a real eye opening commentary on modern consumer economics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Compibility: So far only able to run in windows 10 using comapibility mode (set for windows 95) without applying compatiblity mode through application settings the game is pretty much useless on most all systems (xp, vista, win 7 , win 10)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game breaking bugs, look for the free ver online dont waste your money on this buggy game. (Game breaking bug is the freeze issue, where the game pauses all progress and even saving and loading back up dose not recover progress also happens so consistantly that the game might as well be called fight the freeze.)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best LAN party game ever. Expect to get owned consistantly by that one friend that has made all the right career choices in life ... until you undercut him and slander his business by stockpiling resources.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A real time strategy game that is not about destroying your opponents through war and carnage. But rather wolrd domination by getting everyone to use your products instead of your competitors. The game gives you many tools to get your product to be desired more than your opponents in a region. targeted marketing campaigns that highlight desired traits of your product over your opponent. Shady politics and smear campaigns to reduc public opinion of your opponents in a region. You will move…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you get over the graphics, of which you get use to within a few minutes, this is a godamn GEM. I've never played it before this day in 2017 but godamn, it reminds me of why old games were so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing. So many graphs and information that modern games just lack or don't care about. A word of caution to the young folks, there's no tutorial other than the 50 or so words in the bottom left at the start. But foranyone lost; Basically HQ's and Salesmanagers have a 1square aoe increasing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played a demo of this game in my childhood, and seeked a full version for a long time... Thanks to Stardock! Great works!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not good. Not entertaining. Terrible graphics. Just bad. 2/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the graphics are a bit outdated (it being 15 years old) TCM is a very entertaining and enjoyable game. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Picked this up in some bundle. It crashed, and I'd seen enough not to really want to re-open it. Might spark some nostalgia for someone that played it back when it released, but not really captivating to me as a newcomer.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent for a game that i had got from the bundle. Be sure you play in compatability mode as always with these kind of games. Obviously it takes some trail and error but hey, that was how it was in the early 2000. Simcity 2k didn't come with an ingame tutorial, nope you had a 137 pages booklet to go trough. Fortunatly we have the power of let's play now at hand so we can take a peek at that. Wouldn't advice to buy it for the 10 euro it costs in store tough.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing, and it surprisingly has aged fairly well. I never encountered any bugs during my gameplay, but the gameplay itself can be pretty tricky to learn (you really just have to teach yourself). I completed a game on easy mode with a few struggles, but it looks like there's still more to the game that I haven't discovered yet (nor am I inclined to read the terrible manual to find out). This game isn't for everyone, but if you can get past its issues, you will definitely have a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this with stardock legends pack, so it was so cheap. It works on my win 10, and I don't update it unless it asks me so it works perfectly on win10. First with the cons, the training isn't working as it shows when you press f2 ( it's been showed in help, f1) so I played a game at beginner than "difficult in pain". After few lose I managed to own the world. So there should be some ways to endure the others. Ok you will say me to use cards and lucki but cards require too much resources for a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game sucks!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →keeps crashing on windows 10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my all time favourites! It even has all the bugs that were never patched; random freezes, building graphics that dont upgrade, Multiple lockups! Oh the memories.... Highly recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game. I have the crashes that everyone else describes but if you reopen game and press continue, it restarts where you left off. Its like the crash is associated with an autosave.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After all these years The Corporate Machine still holds up as being one of the best business RTS game. Here is hoping for a remaster.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Capitalism is just better. Corporate Machine lacks a tutorial and the interface is clunky by modern standards.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is worth playing if you are into corporate style games. It has multiple flaws, even as it fixed a few issues from the original "Entrepreneur" game. In my opinion the original has more longevity, but is sadly not available anymore due to a lawsuit. If you can't find the original, this is fine, just don't focus too hard on research as the technilogy tree system won't last very long before there is nothing left to do to improve your product.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic title that holds a lot of wonderful nostalgia for me. I don't think it held up too well, but still I appreciate that this title has come back.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really old and yet it costs so much. The price of this game is just freaking ridiculous. Everything is outdated and nothing is improved. The main problem with this release is the prices. It would be disappointing even if it was for free. Someone might enjoy it, but I will definitely not. And I really can't recommend buying this trash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game! Simple and fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Soooo Old, Soooo Good. Buy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game crashed almost immediately upon playing. Many of the buttons in the game appear to not work, or their clickbox is misplaced.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Corporate Machine is a badly updated version of the game of the same name from 2001, it's a global strategy/simulation game. Run a global corporation and take over the world! The game has aged very badly and doesn't display properly, looks back, and plays worse. It's very clunky. Stardock has been extra greedy on this one and are charging a whopping $14.50 for a nostalgia trip, but you'll only find disappointment here. Can't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very very fun, despite how old and outdated it is. Really enjoy playing, but don't expect something slick. It's a classic game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The basic gameplay involves reaching revenue targets to attract new salespeople, who are used to dominate new regions. Eventually competing companies try to acquire your regions and you theirs, and research plays a factor in product superiority. I like the tension created by reallocating salespeople to take over areas. Then there are cards to play which aren't immediately accessible until requisite resources from certain regions are built up. I bought this on sale for about $5. No…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you like management games, it can be fun for a session or two the game is ancient, i had to watch a let's play to understand how it worked(i am lazy, wont read ingame tutorial) i will probably not touch it again (get it when under 4-5$ if you are curious)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If this game is free and you wanna piss 30-60 minutes away, go for it. However, there is no instructions on how to play the game at all and the menus look super rough (even by early video game standards)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What even is this game?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Relic from the past. While some games are kind of ageless (minus the graphics), others don't age that good. Resolution and UI are too awkward for nowadays. Maybe a remastered version could work, but I can't recommend it as it is.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple and fun. The only thing its missing is there is no steam mod options. If this game added steam mod support so that adding mods would be as simple as searching steam and clicking a button this would be perfect.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know Risk.... One of those ancient relics called a "board game". Well meet the basic version of that same board game... with no armies. Just a single product. That you sell. Realistically, this isn't even a reflection of a real world producting team and I'm sure in its day it was great. But I never played it until it came onto steam yesturda, and I can say this game has had its day.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This video game while very old, is exceptionally fun u see. it reminds me of back in the old days on my climb up the to the very TOP of the corporate FOODCHAIN 10/10 i would recommend you play this video game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the original business tycoon game(which this remasters I guess) I don't know why you felt the need to change the GUI or what the sales representatives say(they are very sycophantic now). I bought it on sale for 4$, and I played it to bits as a kid. So I'll give the thumbs up. Also, as someone else mentioned, the ingame mall is not giving the reduced cost effect it advertises. It also was broken in the original(I still have the original)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before we know it, the Corporate Machine will sponsor our mealtime & sleep modes! This, on the heels of every move in sports. E.g., “State Farm post game report”🤮

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best "Capitalism" SImulator out there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun 4x games. Defintely worth it to pick it up on a sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great, easy to play time waster
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Took some learning as there is no tutorial in game, but it's fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game once you get the hang of it. Learning it all was fun, so you might want to skip the following except for the last line. The reason you have few statistics is, because you need to build something for them :) The card actions appeared like bad jokes to me at first, but they're usable if you have resources top right on the screen. Can confirm the crashes (Win7). Average every 25 mins, I estimate. So save often.
