The Client
A street-wise kid, Mark Sway, sees the suicide of Jerome Clifford, a prominent Louisiana lawyer, whose current client is Barry 'The Blade' Muldano, a Mafia hit-man. Before Jerome shoots himself, he tells Mark where the body of a Senator is buried. Clifford shoots himself and Mark is found at the scene, and both the FBI and the Mafia quickly realize that Mark probably knows more than he says. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →#NowWatching THE CLIENT (1994). Director: Joel Schumacher. Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones. Oscar-nominated Sarandon goes all mama bear as an attorney protecting a youth from both a ruthless D.A. & the mob. Rewatch. Brad Renfro's debut, whose life tragically ended at age 25. #filmsky 📽

unlabelledView post →the fourth one was technically untitled but we call it 4. yes, I am quoting the 1994 film The Client.

unlabelledView post →i have been on a little streak of lawyer movies which means i am watching John Grisham movies - so far i've seen The Firm, The Client, and Runaway Jury unrelated i also watched Disclosure (kind of a lawyer movie?) which i thought was incredibly weird and bizarre for a mainstream Hollywood type film

unlabelledView post →The Client (1994) This is a great movie and you should watch it, not just because of the formidable glass block wall that embodies the inflexible, cold professionalism of the FBI, but because you get to see Tommy Lee Jones drink from a tiny milk carton.
unlabelledView post →Watching THE CLIENT (1994) for my Movie Club and it’s pretty bad but almost worth it just for Anthony LaPaglia’s wardrobe. The nipples … no one tells you about the mesh tank, the mobster-at-a-rave aesthetic. Not in the trailer.

unlabelledView post →Joel Schumacher's John Grisham adaptation THE CLIENT (1994) is kind of a head-scratcher if it's supposed to be a message movie, but it looks good and has great performances from Susan Sarandon and 11-year-old Brad Renfro.
unlabelledView post →Is there anything thematically rich enough or funny enough in the VO that: a. isn't expressed already in Fassbender's performance and b. compensates for how much better the scenes with the Lawyer, Dolores, the Expert, and the Client would be if they were essentially the only voices in the film?

unlabelledView post →Tons of great recs. A couple more that I haven’t seen mentioned… Not a thriller, but The Life of David Gale was one helluva movie. Also Sleepers. The Client. The Insider. Murder in the First. When They See Us was a miniseries that was great. About the Central Park Five.
unlabelledView post →There is a feeling when you watch a movie from before say 2000 where you go 'Oh this looks like a movie!' Like I watched the Client, a middling 1994 John Grisham legal drama and i was blown away by how good it looks!
unlabelledView post →Today's "watch it now before it leaves streaming" recommendation is 1994's The Client, an outstanding John Grisham adaptation featuring great performances all around, in particular that of the 11-year old first-time actor Brad Renfro, who paid a sad tragic price for his overwhelming early celebrity.

unlabelledView post →As Kat says, you do this even just watching a movie. I came out of The Client talking like Susan Sarandon. I don’t pick up Irish or Welsh accents, but I’ll pick up the rhythms. And sometimes awful people have accents my brain thinks would be fun, and I end up enunciating everything to avoid that.

unlabelledView post →I don't know if The Client is a good film, but it might have the strongest cast I have ever seen in my life.
unlabelledView post →My fave Harrison Ford movie is probably The Fugitive - am also a Tommy Lee Jones fan (The Client is also fab). Didn’t like Star Wars even as a child, but Star Trek TNG and DS9 are in my bones and veins (even wrote about them in my latest book). Taste whimsical!

Great cast, awesome performances. Superb.
unlabelledView post →We played the ever living shit out of The Client. Well over 100. Ran the VHS tape thin. My audiobook sister worked at the movie store at the age of 13 or 14 We got screeners!! We were reeling in the perks. Living large baby. We didnt even need money for it. Brad Rebfro stole the show in that movie

unlabelledView post →At home? Not sure what’s on Disney or Netflix, sometimes it’s good to go back to an older film, just noticed The Client is on Netflix at the moment, really good. Maybe something like The Bourne movies. If you get the chance, the Bob Dylan Biopic is really good, Black Bag, the Elvis biopic. Good luck

unlabelledView post →The Client is my fave Grisham movie. Brad 😭😭😭😭😭

unlabelledView post →I live about 80 miles northeast of Memphis, so that's always been the nearest 'big city'. Saw The Client at the theater, though oddly enough that may be the only Grisham film on the big screen. The Rainmaker is my favorite, but The Firm and anything else that's set in Memphis always hits home.
