60 of 64 · most liked firsteveryone calm down it's an adaptation of the books, the director of The Boxtrolls is working with the book's author to do this, it isn't an adaptation of the ghlibli movie, you're gonna be okay let's all just calm down

I also got a little matchbook sized pop-up thingy. I love the Boxtrolls so, so much and if you guys havent seen that Laika movie PLEASE do it asap
unlabelledView post →okay help me i just received my FOURTH ASK on Tumblr asking me what i think about Archibald Snatcher from The Boxtrolls. i haven't seen this movie yet. but with how many people keep recommending me this guy, i am AFRAID 🙈🙈🙈
unlabelledView post →"THE BOXTROLLS" is now streaming on HBO Max!
unlabelledView post →Nice to see that Eggs from The Boxtrolls, which is my personal favourite film from Laika, is being acknowledged in the recent book.
unlabelledView post →That review of The Boxtrolls was boosted on Tumblr for years, probably because I was the only critic horrified at the movie being torture porn for kids
unlabelledView post →Honestly, even though this is a movie I actually like, I would say Winnie’s Dad in The Boxtrolls is a worse Dad than Buck Cluck. And need I remind you all that Horrid Henry’s parents exist?
unlabelledView post →Also I wanna add that he says "nobody directors" despite the fact that the first post-Bay Transformers film was directed by Travis Knight, who prior had directed Kubo and the Two Strings....and animated ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls.....under Laika.....in which he and his brother are the founders.
unlabelledView post →Like, while the movie does touch on a lot of interesting stuff, it just feels like the mere existence of the Boxtrolls from a narrative perspective is a 'don't judge a book by its cover', or 'there is no difference between them and us'. All very good messages to convey, but I feel like I've seen it
unlabelledView post →We were just rewatching The Boxtrolls film and it occurred to me, that although its based on a completely separate author’s work, that it is the closest we’ll ever get to seeing Terry Pratchett’s Discworld on screen.
unlabelledView post →I'm feeling unbelievably lazy today so it's time for some Saturday morning "cartoons". Now watching The Boxtrolls #Filmsky 📽️

unlabelledView post →2024 Movie #182 THE BOXTROLLS - Dir: Graham Annable and Anthony Stacchi ⭐⭐⭐1/2 Well-made, cute animation from Laika about prejudice and class difference, as well as puns and the love of cheese, things I heartily endorse. 📽️
unlabelledView post →That's one thing I love about the movie Paranorman, everyone's simultaneously ugly and cute! 😆❤️ The Boxtrolls is pretty ugly-cute as well. Laika's pretty good at that 🤓
unlabelledView post →I have stated that The Boxtrolls is my personal favourite Laika film but what I have yet to tell is its wonderful art direction, especially those from both Michel Breton, who had previously worked on Coraline and Belleville Rendez-vous, and Mike Smith. I loved how the Red Hats were depicted here.

unlabelledView post →The Boxtrolls (which it was a summer movie club showing or whatever) just for the inappropriate trailers playing by accident and someone had to stop it during the behind the scenes trailer for Mission Impossible - Rouge Mission.
unlabelledView post →A grand adventure film full of amazing moments brought to vivid animated life with stop motion by Laika (Coraline, Paranorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Strings). www.youtube.com/watch?v=vM5V...
unlabelledView post →The poorly thought out ADVENT CALENDAR OF FILM RECOMMENDATIONS continues. Day Twelve: The Boxtrolls (2014). Available on ITVX.
unlabelledView post →I'm a decade behind on Laika movies (I saw Kubo in theaters but thats it) but The Boxtrolls was so fun! I was visually disgusted the whole time but it had some really delightful characters. I can't believe they ended the movie with a guy literally ********* *** **** * ***** ** ********
unlabelledView post →The one movie of theirs that I think didn't deserve to be nominated was The Boxtrolls. Other than that, all their other films were well deserved of being nominated and I think they have the big W coming real soon.

unlabelledView post →I have been waiting for this movie since it was first revealed. It had apparently been worked on since 2011, and Laika Studios are vastly underrated with their quality in films. I still need to watch The Boxtrolls and Missing Link, but everything has been amazing so far.
unlabelledView post →I think my first ever movie there was The Boxtrolls (2014) at the South Lamar location. It had a Shining theme with a little tricycle you could take pictures with. Blew my mind the idea you could order good food at the theater. Had a goat cheese pizza and queso fries! And a beer! Wild times.
unlabelledView post →You should read the article . The Boxtrolls director ( also an animated movie ) is working with the author on the adaptation
unlabelledView post →Been having a weird bit of nostalgia for the film The Boxtrolls over the last week and need to see if again 📦I haven't seen it for at least a decade and I need to have a watch over it and the other Laika films to prepare for when Wildwood comes out this year 😄
unlabelledView post →The Boxtrolls (2014) Honestly a film that dosent get enough praise, while this is another rewatch I really appreciated the designs and authentic of the film much more. The animation is of course peak, but the few non stop is a bit offlutting dosent detract from a great film.
unlabelledView post →The Boxtrolls is Laika’s most underrated movie. And it has the studio’s best villain. Yes, im serious.
unlabelledView post →I had just watched The Boxtrolls today and I was reminded of Michel Breton, who had previously worked on Coraline and Belleville Rendez-vous, who has done stellar and outstanding art for the film. The first art is my personal favourite because it pratically defines the film.
unlabelledView post →I love him!!! And I adore the Boxtrolls. I still talk about that movie!!
unlabelledView post →Today I watched The Boxtrolls. A cute, fun movie with some baby's first progressive politics stuff in it. Dr. Seuss plotting with Coraline style animation.
unlabelledView post →The Boxtrolls is the best Laika movie🖤
unlabelledView post →Stop-Motion Film #04 of 25 The Boxtrolls This film was a great case study exhibiting that distinct story-telling style I am trying to dissect. It is clear the magic is born in imagery and absurdity. Even better, my four-year-old niece had some very amusing commentary! #25stopmotionfilms

unlabelledView post →Week 34 of "A new movie every week - 2026" "The Boxtrolls" The story didn't really grab me as much as previous Laika movies I've seen, but that being said the stop-motion animation is sublime and a treat to watch.
unlabelledView post →The last Laika film I saw in theaters was The Boxtrolls, but you bet I am going to watch Wildwood.

unlabelledView post →I remember it not being my fave Laika film, but I found it very fun, I loved the aesthetic and designs (especially the Boxtrolls themselves), Archibald was a VERY effective villain and Winnie was my fave character as she's hilarious 😁But I'm NOT looking forward to seeing Lord Portley Rind again 😬

unlabelledView post →Rare promo item for the The Boxtrolls. I remain very proud of the work the model crew did on this movie. As head of the Model Shop for it, I oversaw the creation of over 20,000 individual pieces for the movies stop-motion sets. A record that has yet to be broken. #theboxtrolls #laika #stopmotion

unlabelledView post →I literally don’t care what you think a “real movie” is, The Boxtrolls is the best piece of cinema ever made PERIOD.
unlabelledView post →I’m finally watching The Boxtrolls and I’m so confused why people didn’t like this movie Maybe it’s cause I love everything LAIKA puts out but this movie is actually really fun
unlabelledView post →So I'm watching The Boxtrolls again, only the second time ever, and I forgot that this movie is 1) bad and gross and 2) entirely overstimulating. Like I'm 36 minutes in and have suffered through like 8 scenes already.
