unlabelledView post →okay we are all tired of the debate over whether "Die Hard" is a Christmas movie. But have you considered "The Bourne Identity"? Jason Bourne is a Christlike figure who is resurrected and must atone for his sinful past. Also: There is a Christmas tree.

unlabelledView post →We appreciate Michael trying to get movie discussions going on this site, and must say, people sleep on just how good Matt Damon is in The Bourne Identity. That role is close to disastrous - or boringly impersonal - on paper; it only works because of his skill with playing confusion and desperation

The novel is a Cold War espionage centered on Carlos the Jackal whereas the film shifts to a CIA assassin program. The film becomes a critique of authority & deep state. 🕵️♂️🚗💨 #filmsky #booksky

unlabelledView post →The Bourne Identity is a good movie I think! But its sequels, Supremacy and Ultimatum, popularized shaky-cam action scenes. For this crime, I condemn it into the fires of Mount Hollydoom 😔
unlabelledView post →Here to remind you all that The Bourne Identity is a Christmas film even if no one actually mentions that. (Trying to move the discourse on from Die Hard which, duh, is a Christmas film too.)

Scarface, Omega Man, The Bird Cage, Thomas Crown Affair, Ocean's 11, Fist Full of Dollars, Vanilla Sky, Wizard of Oz, The Bourne Identity: all remakes. Arguably, the new Dune movies might be considered remakes of a relatively mid original movie, though the new ones are far more tied to the book. So taking the 1993 mid kids' movie *Rookie of the Year* and adapting it to a modem take where the lead is 19 and plays soccer for…

unlabelledView post →Offhand I can only think of one movie (and sequels) where “didn’t read the book” made the movie significantly better: *The Bourne Identity*. Those books really were awful!
unlabelledView post →re-watching The Bourne Identity - this film and its sequels are really the best action hero movies of recent times, slight diminishing returns as it went on but not much really and no capes or pretentious Bond rubbish :)
unlabelledView post →I’ve been wanting to rewatch The Bourne Identity for a few months now, and boy that movie fucking rips. Simultaneous “They don’t make em like this anymore.” and “Oh no this ruined movies (for a while)”
unlabelledView post →reading the Bourne Identity and my hat is absolutely off to the people who made a cool fun movie out of this. you’re the real heroes.

There's a very, very good chance that the years of classification are entirely related to intelligence collection methods, specifically humint, that are basic techniques that remain in place today. And which will seem like nothing because so much had been leaked or dramatized, that these are not real secrets anymore for the average person who has seen a movie like the Bourne Identity. I'll bet you $5 that the…

unlabelledView post →I tried reading the Bourne Identity because I liked the movie and that book is SO casually racist (written in 1979) I gave up. Also a whole unnecessary rape plot. The movie improved the plot of the book a lot.

That's why no one thinks The Thin Man is a Christmas movie.
unlabelledView post →I mean, ROBOCOP is the best Judge Dredd movie, but I'd also argue that THE BOURNE IDENTITY is a pretty good Wolverine movie if you squint.
unlabelledView post →Do you say that too whenever a movie goes to film in Paris ? « Oh no ! Mission Impossible 6 is reeking of corporate desperation by sharing locations with The Bourne Identity ! »
unlabelledView post →Similarly, whereas the next Mission Impossible film involves stealing top secret files from a golf club toilet, the Bourne Identity reboot starts with the hero's lost memories being triggered by someone accidentally sending him invasion plans on whatsapp.
unlabelledView post →Maybe if this were, like, 2020-ish, you could make it a parody of the modern dark & gritty action thriller kind of spy movie (see: The Bourne Identity, Craig-era Bond, et al.) but tbh that kind of movie has lost most of its cultural dominance as well. There's just nothing to parody right now.
unlabelledView post →I watched a youtube a while back that posited a version of the Bourne Identity where we see the whole thing from Jason's perspective only, learning things as he learns them, going on that journey with him. And it honestly feels like the version of the movie that should have been, but never was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdcSFsQRsnc

unlabelledView post →Craig was after The Bourne Identity and it's many sequels. I think that's the key difference. Maybe Craig sells the brutality a little better than Dalton. Got more physicality to him. And if you don't count Quantum of Solace, he also had *much* better movies. Dalton just felt like the Andrew Garfield of Bonds. Let down by the movies not really knowing what they wanted to be, rather than his performance. He's superb in Hot Fuzz, to the point I now think of him as a local supermarché owner than…

unlabelledView post →I blame The Bourne Identity--a brilliant film, and Liman was trying to break away from the crisp, almost sterile combat of Bond films, but too many people went with his style rather than the purpose. Plus I suspect it's a lot easier/cheaper to shoot and cut a blurry, confusing fight scene.
unlabelledView post →There’s a lovely insight into the times to be gained from who thought “this is fucked.” They almost pulled The Bourne Identity from the scheduled release, because of a conviction nobody would want an escapist spy film.
