Claudia Jennings motorboating on the Bayou, me-o-my-o, Howie’s best work, and traumatic tales of Lincoln’s birthday. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched #FilmSky🎞

unlabelledView post →You think that's crazy, his first American movie, Hard Target was "I want Van Damme to play a guy from the Bayou who was raised by Wilfred Brimley. No we will not change his accent, we'll just say he's Cajun". Also an excellent movie, also many doves.

unlabelledView post →I ended up liking this more than I expected to, but it has the shittiest needle drops in the Vietnam movie game ("Brown Eyed Girl" to "American Pie" to "My Girl", then back to "American Pie", a bar band cover of "Born On The Bayou", a lot of George M. Cohan)

unlabelledView post →Good Times is of course a classic, but I recommend a low-budget action movie called "Bad Asses on the Bayou" starring Danny Trejo and Danny Glover. It's not *good* per se, but it's incredibly enjoyable, and it made me wish someone would have put John Amos and Richard Roundtree in a buddy cop movie.

I was thinking about how to make it a movie, actually, I just want the eords on the screen and a great voice reading them. Nicole Kidman? Nancy Leman? Michelle Obama (in a heaven somewhere)

unlabelledView post →This is probably better than it deserves I have seen Rogue. This is not Rogue. This is of a lower quality, and some of the stock-footage of the actual animals is annoying. Some of the cgi used for the animals is decent, way better than one might expect from a movie like this, which is a lovely surprise. The characters are distinct and likable enough, and the actors do a good job of portraying them, giving them all enough life so that you can engage with them without overstaying or overstating…

unlabelledView post →Bad Ass 3: Bad Asses on the Bayou is a solid ending to the Bad Ass trilogy, though admittedly I didn't enjoy this film quite as much as its predecessors. Still, this is one of those rare instances for me where the third film isn't complete garbage compared to the other entries. Go watch this movie!

She represents the neoliberal subject par excellence: impulsive, self-assertive, driven by the primacy of personal desire over collective responsibility. That the film positions such behaviour as not only tolerable but admirable signals a larger ideological failure #TheBayou https://boxd.it/bbl2fV

unlabelledView post →I recommend skipping this crocodile attack film. A group of drug fueled crocs pursue survivors of a plane crash in The Bayou. The characters are completely unlikable. I didn’t care what happened to any of them. The attack scenes are laughable… the ones you can actually see that is.
