Headed by ex-Namco game designer Masanobu Endō (best known for Xevious and Tower of Dauaga) Game Studio Inc is still going strong today, recently working with Bandai Namco to develop and release Sword Art Online: Echoes of Aincrad!

It's unique in the sense that it combines anime and JRPG elements with the looter shooter genre, I haven't played a lot of games like it! It's also a really fun game and a good time overall 😊
unlabelledView post →Edit: The game is a fake mmo, the reason why me and my gf bought this was to have some kind of anime Remnant or dark souls with guns but the co-op is unavailable in story missions and areas, it is stricly only selected "dungeons" who has 2-3 rooms and a boss to fight, and late-game content has "hardcore" co-op which includes hordes of enemies... THIS SUCKS! The solo content is okay, portrayed as a mmo, kinda plays like a simplistic low budget mmo with obvious meta builds with many questionable…

unlabelledView post →You spend hours customizing your own character and picking your guns just for the game to remind you, every five minutes, that Kirito is still handsomer, stronger, has a bigger harem, and is the actual protagonist of your life. Recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is super messed up to me because it has Akira Yuki from Virtua Fighter and Selvaria Bles from Valkyria Chronicles and the stages are based on various Sega games, and I think, this could've been a 2D Sega fighting game. Instead I gotta see Sword Art Online characters.

unlabelledView post →This is the best Sword Art Online game made to date. And after the release of Echoes of Aincrad, I'm starting to realize it's likely going to be the best SAO game ever made. I don't think we're going to get anything better. And it's not even set in Aincrad. It's set in GGO. It's still the best SAO game.

unlabelledView post →Echoes of Aincrad was not a very good game, but it got me thinking about the many attempts to make Sword Art Online games over the years and how trying to make a video game out of hit novel "Don't make the video game that kills you" is a futile effort raiderking.com/the-futility...
unlabelledView post →DLC content unlocks partway through the game, I figured I'd wait until I finish the main story to start DLC content which seems pretty standard, but turns out when you finish the game you can only continue playing by restarting in ng+ and getting back to the dlc unlock part in the MS. Terrible game design.

unlabelledView post →Man what the actual fuck. And this maniac admits he got the idea from the anime Sword Art Online. In the show players log into a vr game only to find out they’re stuck unless they win and die if they lose. Why would any sane individual want to recreate that?!

unlabelledView post →If you are a fan of the Sword Art Online series, specifically the Gun Gale Online arc, this is easily the most fleshed out game in the franchise. From what I've read about the other SAO titles, they tend to be incredibly buggy and barebones. Fatal Bullet actually has a highly competent mechanical foundation. The gunplay is solid, and the build variety is surprisingly deep. I've been running a high evasion glass cannon build, it feels genuinely rewarding and really smooth. Playing this with a…

unlabelledView post →Its a bit of a mess when it comes to the story, some mechanics, maps, but its still a pretty good time on sale. Feels like an anime-esk Division. Must note that this is currently one of the only games that allow you to make your own character and not play as *hurk* Kirito, Honestly, him and his gang are the biggest detractor from this game. They didn't need to be in it. I'll take just Lin and her gang any day. Don't need harem-kun mixing up with my group, Keep your nasty ass away!

unlabelledView post →This is by far the best SAO game ever made and unfortunately the last of the good ones before they changed the formula into a chapter based hack'n slash and got greedy putting microtransactions. It would have been so much better if they turned this game into live service and kept releasing new DLCs instead of releasing Alicization because since then SAO games were only going downhill.

The good: -Actual viable builds and slightly varying playstyles based on how you want to play -The AI isn't entirely dumb and will help you -Gun upgrades feel actually strong instead of always hitting with a toothpick -It doesn't need 90 billion different buffs for you to deal good damage -The main character isn't kirito The bad: -Towards end…

unlabelledView post →Really the only worthy sword art online game based off the GGO season. It’s good, but its definitely a $20 game you’ll get about 30 hours all DLC included. Here’s hoping echoes of aincrad is good and they fixed the items dropping rather than teleporting them to inventory on kill.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No wonder Bandai Namco gave CyberConnect2 permission to make their own new .hack game... they already had a new Sword Art Online game in development ("so who needs .hack?").
unlabelledView post →Unpopular opinion: Fatal Bullet is the only SAO game that’s actually playable, but it’s still far from a masterpiece. Let’s be real for a second—the bar for SAO games is basically on the floor, and this only looks good because it’s not another generic sword-fighting simulator. Letting us create our own character was a massive W, but the AI is brain-dead and the grind becomes a second job after 20 hours. If you’re a GGO fan, you’ll have fun for a bit, but stop coping and calling this a "hidden…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easily the best Sword Art Online game. Super fun, fast, and faced paced just like GGO is in SAO II. It feels little grindy at times, but I just put on some music and go at it. If you are concerned with the price, simply pick it up off of CDKeys, you can get it for like 8 dollars with all the DLC. If you are a fan of the show, This is the SAO game you want to play.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet had me the second I realized it was built around Gun Gale Online. GGO was easily one of my favorite arcs from the anime, so when this game came out, I jumped on it immediately. I wanted the guns, the outfits, the sci-fi chaos, the weird MMO energy, the dramatic anime nonsense, all of it. And honestly, Fatal Bullet scratched that itch. I love that it lets you make your own character and actually exist in that world instead of just watching the usual cast do…
