60 of 87 · most liked firstI'm looking forward to digging into Pirate Yakuza action at some point, but tonight for a feature, I've been revisiting my first ever piratical game. One still as golden as all the rich stuff in One-Eyed Willy's hidden treasure. 📺: Sid Meier's Pirates, MicroProse, 1987/90 (Amiga version)

unlabelledView post →Hey @spritewrench.com, thanks for hosting #TurnBasedThursday this week and the lovely event art! Terra Randoma is not a pirate game, but in fact Sid Meier's Pirates! was one of the biggest inspirations behind it! Here is some combat on a shipwreck to prove it 😁
unlabelledView post →This game is basically a copy of Sid Meier's Pirates but set in the American Civil War. But it not only copies that, I wonder where I've seen this Ship Boy before.😂
unlabelledView post →You've heard of Civilization. You've maybe even played Colonization. Now get ready for Exploration! While the DOS game has a similar 4X strategy flair, it has more in common with Sid Meier's Pirates, with a focus on trade. Those 1994 PC graphics feel like a warm blanket to me~ #chosting 👇🧵
unlabelledView post →Who else LOVED playing Sid Meier's Pirates! created by Sid Meier for the Commodore 64 and published by MicroProse in 1987. The game is a simulation of the life of a pirate, a privateer, or a pirate hunter. It was widely ported to other systems. #C64 #Commodore64 #Commodore
unlabelledView post →Going to make this a thread for my #7drl progress. Game is pirate themed. Going to be all ascii and moderately traditional, but taking a lot of inspiration from FTL and Sid Meier's Pirates. Going to go weird and fantasy with it though, with ghost, monkey, shark, and crab crews. #gamedev
unlabelledView post →Sid Meier's Pirates (2004) is still, arguably, the best pirate game ever made--and if you want extra credit, go back and try the originals. It's delightful and terrifying seeing just how much the game... basically didn't change. They nailed it from the jump. store.steampowered.com/app/3920/Sid...

Due to its great success, the Gold Edition was released in 1993. #cralon #pithead #pitheadstudio #indiedev #gamedev #piratesgold

unlabelledView post →The fact that Sid Meier's Pirates doesn't have a meaningful successor is bonkers. There are multiplayer pirating games, and a few games featuring pirates without it being the specific purpose of the game (Black Flag is included here) but nothing really takes up the same niche.
unlabelledView post →Every time I play a pirate-themed game I start the exercise of designing my own pirate game and very quickly realize I'm just recreating Sid Meier's Pirates 😅

unlabelledView post →I finally got around to trying out Sid Meier's Pirates! Why haven't I done this before?! It's fabulous! I was intending on having it as a game to play with the kids, but I'll have to tell them it's not working any more cause I very much want to play in optimal ways they won't enjoy watching.

This game is 22 years old but somehow works perfectly Oh and did I mention NEW SUMMER MODEL? I set it up special so it won't interfere with the game (it uses Numpad controls 😤) See y'all in a couple hours!
unlabelledView post →Instead of remaking AC4 they should instead make a sequel to the far superior pirate game Sid Meier's Pirates!

unlabelledView post →Sid Meier's Pirates! (1987, Commodore 64) This is the first game I remember playing all the way through, although the sandbox nature of the game left that entirely up to you. I have happy memories of raiding coastal forts and replacing governors up and down the Spanish Main.
unlabelledView post →i like how you can tell i have autism because how the fuck does someone get a hundred hours in Sid Meier's Pirates. That isn't even like. The best sid meiers game. It isn't even CIV (WHICH I DO OWN I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY)
unlabelledView post →Sid Meier's Pirates!! is such a good game. It really does make you feel like a pirate. You make money by attacking ships and looting them. Then you get rewarded (or punished) for it by the four nations. The world of Pirates!! is so alive, and you have direct influence how it changes too.

unlabelledView post →Sid Meier's Pirates!! is such a good game. What if I just remade that but with anime girls in bikinis instead?
unlabelledView post →Sid Meier's Pirates! is a really good game. When you decompose it, it's basically a collection of pirate-themed mini games connected by an overworld sailing game. It's a really clever game.
unlabelledView post →Absolutely - I will go with Sid Meier's Pirates! on this one! A very fun and flexible game that was a sort of roguelite in an era where they weren't really popular. I really enjoyed all the different "minigames" that were included here and the sense of humor was wonderful
unlabelledView post →This is extra funny because my game got remakes in 1993 and 2003. I am playing Sid Meier's Pirates! again

Help your clan rise up to power and prestige in the Tokugawa era in Sword of the Samurai, a fun action strategy game! (The manual is also awesome!) #videogames #gaming #retrogames

unlabelledView post →45. Sid Meier's Pirates (2004) The first time I'd played a game with so many kinds of things to do. Open world done diff. My fav thing was dancing with ladies for smooches. Even if the game made a point of relating difficulty to their attractiveness. Wdym video games gave me body image issues???
unlabelledView post →I'd probably say Sid Meier's Pirates! on the C64. I'd played stuff since ~1980 or so and had fun, but I think Pirates! is the first game that really opened my imagination to what games could do.
unlabelledView post →Its not quite Sid Meier's Pirates in how the combat works, like you're not considering the wind etc and pressing X to shoot, it's more menus game than that, but thats not a bad thing
unlabelledView post →I remember *renting* Sid Meier's Pirates from a computer store a couple of times before buying it. I'd love to play that original game again.
