Shin Godzilla
When a massive, gilled monster emerges from the deep and tears through the city, the government scrambles to save its citizens. A rag-tag team of volunteers cuts through a web of red tape to uncover the monster's weakness and its mysterious ties to a foreign superpower. But time is not on their side - the greatest catastrophe to ever befall the world is about to evolve right before their very eyes. From TMDB

positive · AI labelView post →On this rewatch of Shin Godzilla, I came to appreciate how prominent a role director Shinya Tsukamoto (Tetsuo: The Iron Man) plays. Having the master of body horror ponder Godzilla's physical mutations and spiritual implications throughout the film adds tremendously to the bureaucratic ensemble.
positive · AI labelView post →when I saw Shin Godzilla in theaters, and Godzilla was introduced, a guy in my showing looked confused, took out his phone, and searched for “Godzilla.”
neutral · AI labelView post →If I was in charge of a Godzilla movie I'd make Shin Godzilla 2 but this time Godzilla shows up with Mothra and they are FUCKING (nasty style) and a bunch of politicians gotta call in experts to see if Godzilla and Mothra can procreate and
neutral · AI labelView post →SHIN GODZILLA is currently back in cinemas and you should go watch it. I wrote about how it stands apart from other Godzilla movies, and how its apocalyptic sensations feel troublesome and relevant. www.patreon.com/posts/137110...
positive · AI labelView post →Saw the 4K release of Shin Godzilla and it’s definitely in my pantheon of movies with really intense committee meetings (I’m being totally serious). It’s just, “What if Evangelion Episode 6 was a whole movie” and I’m ridiculously here for it. 10/10 youtu.be/eNox1a18qqw?...
positive · AI labelView post →Removed from the film itself and outside of the original, I really think that the scene in Shin Godzilla where he sets fire to Tokyo with the atomic breath is the most well-conceived image of Godzilla purely as a premise. It’s so scary, so romantic, and so immediate and uncanny.
positive · AI labelView post →Happy anniversary to the legendary SHIN GODZILLA! What a film. I still remember how unnerving the poster was and how it built up such a horrifying notion of what this take on Godzilla was going to be like. Still one of the most chilling final scenes in cinema in recent memory.
positive · AI labelView post →Saw Shin Godzilla in the theater again last night. Movie still rips. Shin is my boy.
positive · AI labelView post →On this week’s SCOTT HASN’T SEEN: Hollywood’s Good Boy Jack Quaid returns to discuss another movie about the big green guy — SHIN GODZILLA! neutral · AI labelView post →It's been TEN YEARS since #Godzilla returned to Japan as Shin Godzilla! So I made a lil poster to celebrate the big freak's anniversary. Still my favorite Godzilla film to this day (although -1.0 is very very close). #Gojira #ShinGodzilla #ゴジラ #シン・ゴジラ
positive · AI labelView post →Shin Godzilla. Extraordinary movie. I know we all know this but I think it’s worth writing out every now and again
positive · AI labelView post →Shin Godzilla is one of its decade’s paramount pieces of experimental digital filmmaking. Really taken for granted how visually exciting, dynamic, and instantly arresting this stuff is for newcomers and non-Toku movie buffs? We know the Jissoji link, but it’s a language all its own.
positive · AI labelView post →Finally watching Shin Godzilla. I have never ever thought Godzilla was gross, but this one, especially it's first few forms, is indeed gross. ☹️ Gills skeeve me out. 🤢
negative · AI labelView post →There are many monster films that I love. Shin Godzilla is still the most unique/politically layered creature film released in the past ten years. A constantly mutating creature that reflected Japan’s slow bureaucratic response to the escalating Fukushima disaster was a contemporary masterstroke.
positive · AI labelView post →The last frame of SHIN GODZILLA is probably one of the more indelible images from a film in the 21st century.
positive · AI labelView post →Finally saw Shin Godzilla, and even though Godzilla Minus One is a better movie, I think Shin Godzilla is the better movie
neutral · AI labelView post →Got this Shin Godzilla promo stuff from Japan when the movie was released. It's pretty cool.
neutral · AI labelView post →I've just come back from a 4DX screening of Shin Godzilla, making it my 3rd or 4th time seeing it in a theater. It remains my favorite Godzilla movie for a reason. The Letterboxd article I just wrote describes both the 4DX experience, and deeper thoughts on the political commentary of the film.
positive · AI labelView post →Finally saw Godzilla Minus One last night. Best Godzilla movie I have ever seen. Better than Shin Godzilla. Great nods to the original Gojira and even the newer Monsterverse movies.
neutral · AI labelView post →“Shin Godzilla” is back in cinemas, a film that returns the classic monster to both his full political potential and terrifying cinematic power, while also presenting a biting government satire. One of the best kaiju movies ever made. joysauce.com/shin-godzill...
neutral · AI labelView post →Regarding Godzilla Minus One: holy fucking shit. Like if Shin Godzilla, Das Boot, Downfall, and Jaws were all the same film. I’m sitting there in the theater crying over a goddamn Godzilla movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →now watching for the first time, Shin Godzilla (2016) by directors Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi. goddamn.

neutral · AI labelView post →just watched Shin Godzilla A friend described this movie as "logistics porn." They were 100% right and it kicks ass
positive · AI labelView post →Shin Godzilla in black and white is finally available in the US, and this is a film that greatly benefits from that. Whether as a love letter to classic films, or just the usage of older music and sound effects throughout, this is the definite way to watch this film. share.google/YYdiSruJxlyx...
positive · AI labelView post →We saw Shin Godzilla for the third time tonight and the first time in a theatre. There are so many reasons to love this film, but googly eye Godzilla ranks pretty high on our list.
positive · AI labelView post →We know that Godzilla Minus One writer-director Takashi Yamazaki is developing a follow-up for as soon as next year, but that’s not the only Godzilla film on the table in Japan. A sequel to SHIN GODZILLA might also be on the table:
neutral · AI labelView post →Almost ten years after the film’s original release, Toho’s SHIN GODZILLA is stomping into U.S. theaters with a brand new 4K remaster courtesy of Gkids beginning TODAY, August 14! The 4K remaster will also make its streaming debut on HBO Max sometime later this year or early 2026:
neutral · AI labelView post →A reissue of Shin Godzilla releases in theaters today at an interesting moment: The movie is primarily about the halting bureaucratic response to the monster in Tokyo Bay. Yet after DOGE, a working civic ecosystem looks pretty good. We got A.A.Dowd to write about it:
neutral · AI labelView post →First 30 minutes of Shin Godzilla is still unmatched. Funny ass movie
positive · AI labelView post →Minus One is the new darling, and for good reason. But, to my monster-addled mind, Shin Godzilla was the first since the original 1954 film to successfully capture and build upon the horror of the creature, to make Gojira not just devastating but inscrutable. You can’t look away from the monster.
positive · AI labelView post →Just watched Shin Godzilla. Friends, this is the movie that Don’t Look Up failed miserably at being.
positive · AI labelView post →GKIDS' rerelease of the Shin Godzilla film in U․S. theaters earned about US$2․4 million in its first 4 days.
neutral · AI labelView post →fourth(?) rewatch of Shin Godzilla, I'm calling that a 5 star film. hope a colossal radioactive lizard disintegrates our impotent gerontocracy one day
positive · AI labelView post →Watched Shin Godzilla with friends that is a super good movie.
positive · AI labelView post →Shin Godzilla co-director and early Gainax member Shinji Higuchi is directing The Bullet Train remake starring Tsuyoshi Kusanagi for Netflix!
neutral · AI labelView post →Saw Shin Godzilla last night and I loved how it was a modern film that also adopted the filmmaking techniques of classic films. Like how they used peanut butter to make the American actors look like they were talking
positive · AI labelView post →Watched my very first Godzilla movie yesterday. Shin Godzilla fucks and now I'm big monster as environmental catastrophe pilled

neutral · AI labelView post →Okay, so Godzilla Minus One is now my favourite Godzilla movie, right up there with Shin Godzilla, Godzilla (1954) and Godzilla (2014).
positive · AI labelView post →Watched Shin Godzilla at my local movie theatre! A bumbling monstrosity wreaking senseless havoc across the nation as bureaucrats argue decorum and dodge accountability but at least I was able to keep my mind off all that by watching a Godzilla movie
positive · AI labelView post →Check out what arrived today for the collection! - A Nightmare on Elm Street: 7 Film Collection 4K - Ballerina: From the World of John Wick 4K - Shin Godzilla 4K
neutral · AI labelView post →SO FREAKING AMAZING. If you have time for only, I dunno, say, three Godzilla films, go for the OG '54 film (the Japanese cut rather than the Americanized "oh, hey, there's Raymond Burr" cut), Shin Godzilla, and Godzilla Minus One. That shot of the aviary birds freaking out over Godzilla? MAGIC.
positive · AI labelView post →My promise to you: if the characters in a manga I'm editing get all excited watching Shin Godzilla and try to reenact scenes from it, I will re-watch Shin Godzilla to get all the terminology right

neutral · AI labelView post →So excited to see Shin Godzilla in theaters!!!. I didn't become a Godzilla fan till 2020 so I missed the original release of this. Making up for that on Saturday though!!!
positive · AI labelView post →16. Godzilla needs a silly little face to be Godzilla. SHIN GODZILLA is the only modern Godzilla film to understand this.

Had a lovely family movie night with it and then watched Shin Godzilla last night. He loved both, as did we all. Minus is probably the "better" film but the Shin design 👀
positive · AI labelView post →Picking a random film from my collection to show off for no real reason! Year 2, Day #96 "Shin Godzilla" (Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi/2016) A divisive entry in the Godzilla franchise but one I firmly enjoy. Go check it out for yourself and see which side you fall on!
positive · AI labelView post →Watching Shin Godzilla, a movie about government emergency response.
neutral · AI labelView post →Shin Godzilla is now on HBO Max. Pretty good stuff: big, stomping monster movie that's also a mix of political satire and political theory, as well as an homage to the old Godzilla films. This review by Simon Abrams does it justice: www.rogerebert.com/reviews/shin...
