Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective: The Case of the Tin Soldier
Developer Zojoi
Inspector Smythe from Scotland Yard has informed Watson and me of the murder of General Armstead, a Tontine ticket holder. Something about this case intrigues me. Perhaps it ís that the General was about to publish a scintillating addendum to his infamous book on treasure. From the Steam store page

The moonshot was licensed likenesses for actual 70s actors/actresses. I am the perfect person to write it. But I'm not sure I'm up to actually running the project. That's life

unlabelledView post →The idea is a combo of deduction and required evidence; My current design is inspired by a bunch of games but I really like Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective style, where it is possible to solve it in a perfect minimal number of steps/encounters/scenes but you can take longer and still solve it

unlabelledView post →will start off by saying that this game has very little to actually "do" in it, it is more of an interactive story almost, but not quite. The object of all three of the Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective mysteries is to gather clues by deciding on what people and places to visit. Once you have gotten enough information to solve the crime/s you will go before a judge and he will ask a few questions that you must answer correctly. Getting to the judge and answering questions using the fewest…

The only clue left behind is a tin soldier figurine that is facing the opposite direction than all the other soldiers in the collection. Is this figurine somehow linked with the identity of his murderer? The best way to look at these Sherlock Holmes cases of which their are three, this one being the best in my opinion is as interactive novels. The actual gameplay is minimal but the stories are interesting and you slowly read through the…

unlabelledView post →two recommendations from me: - Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective. brilliant genre-defining boardgame. somehow from the 80s?? - Her Story. originator of the modern FMV movement both just have that freedom to speculate on someone's motives, go: huh, i wonder... and have that immediately pay off

unlabelledView post →Last night we finally cracked into Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective after having it on our shelf for a few years. I dig it. It's basically a choose-your-own-adventure deduction game where getting more story is dependent on you figuring out the story so far. Clever format, great time-for-cost.

unlabelledView post →I think I'm going to break open Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective this weekend and do the first mystery. I've had it for a year and haven't done much with it.
unlabelledView post →Another weak case dragging down a good system. Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective is a sweet system for playing short one-shot murder mystery games but just like The Case of the Mystified Murderess, the case here doesn't do the system justice. There's not particularly any mystery to this case. No intuitive leaps needed. Just follow every lead to its conclusion and the culprit will all but be dropped into your hands by the end. It feels less like a mystery and more like a police procedural.…

If you've played (or Reviewed) one of these games then you have played them all; essentially the exact same game split up into (3) different mysteries. The meat of the game is sifting through newspapers to find clues which perpetuate you to navigate to…

unlabelledView post →In addition to the latest Detective Grimoire game and The Red Pearls of Borneo, we also have recently played a FMV (full motion video) Sherlock Holmes series from the early 90s called Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective. It reminds me of the VCR interactive games of that time. They're pretty fun.
