unlabelledView post →5⭐ Rye Lane Oh boy did I love this movie. It was sweet and joyful. I feel like I know the heart of South London and I'm in love. I do love some good angst, but this was romance that makes you smile and honestly, how I hope to give and receive love. With the realism included it is a lovely film.
unlabelledView post →So I'm in the process of updating the syllabus for my romance class, and I so want to teach the film Rye Lane. It's charming, and my students would love it. It also has a run time under 90 minutes (so many syllabus decisions are driven by length). But I cannot purchase this movie.
unlabelledView post →The actual problem with the Baftas continues to be 'what's the point of them?' What's the point of a British film awards that in recent years hasn't noticed that e.g. Rye Lane *existed*, Scrapper exists, in which there are only two British directors on the shortlist, etc. etc.
unlabelledView post →I already knew David Jonsson was incredible after seeing him in the fantastic RYE LANE, but seriously…why is he not in every single movie? I know he’s in THE LONG WALK, which I’m going to see as soon as I can, but the world needs more. Cast David Jonsson in everything, please.

unlabelledView post →RYE LANE is a wonderful south London film and I was quoted in the Evening Standard saying how great and relatable I think it is (there's also an all-timer uncredited cameo) www.criticsnotebook.com/2023/02/rye-...
unlabelledView post →It is also just peak cultural cringe to look at a *BRITISH* film award that overlooks Rye Lane and shunts it into 'Best British film' and to go 'what about the film about an American doll that is a complete conceptual mess when you think about it?'
unlabelledView post →The director of RYE LANE (!) is in post on her next movie (!!) which apparently is heist film (!!!) starring Jessica Henwick (!!!!).
unlabelledView post →David Jonsson won over our hearts here at BGN when we first interviewed him for the rom-com Rye Lane, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival a few years ago. He’s appeared in a number of projects, most notably HBO’s Industry, Alien Romulus and coming soon Lionsgate’s The Long Walk.
unlabelledView post →Rye Lane is an absolutely bloody lovely film. Slightly reminds me of Before Sunrise, but in south London and more fun and not trying to impress you with how clever it is. On iPlayer for a couple more weeks I think
unlabelledView post →I adored Rye Lane - need to rewatch, such a special film especially as someone who grew up and still lives in SE London!
unlabelledView post →I realized that I do like some romantic movies and tv shows…when they’re dramas. Where I keep running into problems are romcoms. I don’t think I’ve loved a romcom since Rye Lane. That’s kinda wild since the film came out 3 years ago. And most of my fave romcoms are from the 1990s.
unlabelledView post →man, the movie news today is so good, i love Rye Lane

unlabelledView post →A great week for films. After Yang was amazing and Aisha kind of made me angry as it hits hard. Not on this list as it was a big film week were Black Panther and Rye Lane. Both good but I loved Rye Lane. #letterboxd #lastfourwatched
unlabelledView post →You know what I did after seeing this movie? I went on a binge. I found every good indie I could. I saw Past Lives. Rye Lane. Sometimes I Think About Dying. Riddle of Fire. I fell back in love with film because I made myself see great movies.

unlabelledView post →It's so fun to watch Rye Lane (2023) with @devilligan.bsky.social's movie club 🐀❣️ It's a rom-com that easily immerses you into something more adventurous and funny than your usual meet-cute. With snappy cinematography that draws you in and a beautiful lived-in chemistry I'd easily watch this again.
unlabelledView post →I normally don't do rom-coms, but Rye Lane is a beautiful and bright movie that is sweet without being syrupy and funny without being forced. My favorite bit was the karaoke scene. IYKYK. Always lovely evening with the Minkies in the Light Fantastic thanks to @devilligan.bsky.social!

unlabelledView post →Rye Lane What a gorgeous little gem of a film. A sort of Before Sunrise set in Peckham, Brixton and roundabout as two strangers both having suffered bad breakups meet-cute, walk, talk, and get to know each other. Easy to make this cheesy or schmaltzy, but it avoids that nicely. Top performances..
unlabelledView post →This is mainly to tell you you should watch ‘Rye Lane’ this holiday season. Probably my favourite movie of the last five years. youtu.be/FJUyvr6Wiak

unlabelledView post →> Since the beginning of our history, our capital city has been continually shaped and reshaped by the diverse communities that have called it home. If some people think we would be better off without jerk chicken or jollof rice, without Rye Lane or China Town, Ramadan or St Patrick’s Day, without the films of Sir Steve McQueen or the songs of Little Simz, without Yotam Ottolenghi’s food or Emma Raducanu’s backhand – I don’t think they’ll find many Londoners who will agree. > In fact, the…

unlabelledView post →Just watched Rye Lane (I missed seeing it at the cinema) and I absolutely loved it, a great movie and all filmed around south London ❤️
unlabelledView post →After decades upon decades of racism, colourism & whitewashing in romcoms, RYE LANE surfaced with a breath of fresh air. Obvs it was the film I chose when asked along to the Made In England podcast. Listen up! 💖 www.holdfastnetwork.com/madeinenglan...
unlabelledView post →Third movie for #RomComBracket Rye Lane Watched this last year, and just deleted my initial review. I'd said maybe I was just in a bad mood then, and yes, because on rewatch, this is delightful! It's a love letter to so much, and a real rom-com: I laughed, smiled, and rooted for the romance! Watch!

unlabelledView post →Big strong recommend for Rye Lane, which is the film you need if you want to have a nice time watching a film about two people on a date, that feels as manic and odd as a night out in London should.

unlabelledView post →And it’s not helped by baffling distribution choices. This vacation movie went to theaters where it was called fine. The utterly electric Rye Lane which was so great I needed the script in print was shoved on Hulu.
